Chapter 120: Exchanges
I was dead, or at least my body was. Teddy had fucked me into oblivion, and I didn’t know I could be this sore. Well, I did know I could. It had been hours of our bodies coming relentlessly together. The sun was beginning to crest in the horizon; I could see it out the large windows that lead to our balcony. I was tired, neither of us slept.
Teddy was holding me close, his large fingers tracing my freckles. His grey eyes bore into mine. I could feel the weight of his black wing over top of me. “What are you thinking?” He asked gently. I smiled slightly “Teddy you can look into my head and know, why ask?” I felt him slip into my mind and he smirked deepened. “So fucking naughty.” I laughed.
“You did this to me; I think it is your fault for putting all that in there.” His free hand slid between us and touched the overly sensitive flesh between my legs. I moaned. “I believe I put myself in here too, love.” I flushed, both wanting more of him and not. I was so sore, so tired, so turned on. He laughed. “I will run us a bath.” I felt spoiled. “You should be, you are incredible.” Teddy said aloud once again having gone in my head.
The bath was more than relaxing, when we finally emerged from the tub I wondered if we should go down for Breakfast or go to actual bed. Neither of us had slept and it seemed that might be important, considering we were going to be searching at the Draycot estate later. “What about Malachar, don’t you have to see him today to practice?” Teddy asked, he was reading my thoughts as they came.
“Today is what day?” I asked. “Sunday?” He spoke. I shook my head,” nope tomorrow” I said, he had not told me to come in to make up time that I missed recovering from the ritual I performed. To my understanding that meant I was not needed until Monday. “Alright well we need blood to start if we are going there today.” Teddy said and we left for breakfast once I was dressed in a black dress.
We sat at the table; there was more vein bound this morning. “I went and got more, and I'll keep adding to our number.” Leia explained seeing my confusion, I didn’t respond knowing it was all my fault and not only that it took me biting three humans to get my fill. Teddy shared the first one with me, but two others stood by for me to drink from.
Was my new, larger appetite, the reason Leia was stock piling the vein bound? I was just finishing off my feeding on a fourth person when Teddy slipped into my head and said “Yes, she is making sure we have lots of blood in the house. We all know you need to drink more than the rest of us, and she didn’t want you to feel bad about it. Leia also knows you don’t like buying them, so she has been going every day to the market. Once we hit 120 vein bound, she will stop buying them. She also is making sure she is keeping families together.”
I looked at my husband. They really were the best doing this for me. Once the last vein bound left the room Aiden spoke. “She is still not in the paper.” He spoke. He was getting anxious about Ava. I tried to calm him by responding. “Aiden, I told you, she was taken at the end of the war, you need to be patient.” He stared at me.
“If I could just know she is being treated well, it would help, or if I could just see her, and Wes, I want to know he is okay too.” I didn’t know if I could find anything out. Malachar didn’t talk about those taken during the war, at least to me. But maybe Teddy could find something out. When I looked at him, he shook his head. He wouldn’t intervene. I was surprised when Baron spoke on the subject.
“Aiden, I can take a look and see what I can find out.” Since when he could get information like that? Then he made the announcement. “I took a job, and I may be able to find things out now.” A job when did that happen, and why, I always pictured him as doing nothing, though I know that wasn’t true. He was very active in the war. Leia was beaming at her spouse and took his hand.
“What kind of job?” Aiden asked. “I am going to be an enforcer, so like a cop I guess but for the new government.” I guess we needed those, but I didn’t think it was going to be positions filled with good people. Baron would be the exception to that, with fanatics that worshiped Malachar as their god, filling the rest of those positions. “I can see what I can find out about your friend and wife.” Baron said.
That pacified Adien. Leia then addressed me “I found a good fit for the woman in Paris.” I had no clue what she was talking about. “You know the one who helped us, but you had to get her a female Dhamir.” I didn’t like all this talk, it was so casual, like we were not talking about exchanging living beings. “How did you find one Leia?” I asked her. She smiled and explained.
“So, they release Dhamir's names every day, with brief descriptions on them. I found two young girls that would work. One is 15 and the other 22, there was a few that were much older but I think that younger would be better so she could learn the skills and do a better job, almost like an apprenticeship.” I could understand what she was saying, also I knew if the woman was younger, she would be less stubborn.
With the new regime for the world, I worried what would happen to those who opposed the new laws. “Okay so how do I get this 15-year-old, she doesn’t have family?” Leia nodded and then said I would have to go in person to petition for her, her age made her a commodity. I would have to wait until tomorrow I thought, today I had to go to the Draycot estate, ending Malachar needed to be my priority. The blood I had over breakfast had woken me up, but I still felt tired though the soreness of the night prior was gone.
“I will try to get her tomorrow either before work or after.” I spoke. Fuck, I thought, if I did get her, I would need to jump to Paris and last time that took it out of me. Teddy squeezed my thigh and, in my mind, said, “I will go with you to take the Dhamir.” I nodded saying thank you. The rest of the time around the table was formal plans for the upcoming week and even Lucy was mentioned on returning home for the summer.
