Chapter 72 WHAT'S GOING ON

Chapter 72 WHAT'S GOING ON

Garrett's POV

Iris was going to be the end of me. I didn't even know what I was thinking as I rang the doorbell to her house.

One of the maids answered immediately, narrowing their eyes at me.

Oh, even the maids knew that Derek and I were nothing less than enemies.

“Sir Nashe is not around,” she said, and I held her back immediately.

Both Derek and and Iris were not at the pack. I didn't know where the both of them might have gone, but I wanted to find out like my life depended on it.

They hadn't been at school, and I had to talk to Owen nicely for the first time in my life. Even he didn't know anything about the both of them.

I could see the worry that he had on his face for her, and I couldn't help but confirm the reason why she was his mate to begin with. She just wasn't ready to recognize it.

“And Senior Nashe?” I asked, and she gave me the nod of her head.

“He's inside. Do you want to see him?” she asked, like she was waiting for me to say no so that she could bang the door in my face.

If only she knew just how desperate I was.

I sighed.

“Yes,” I muttered under my breath. “I want to see him.”

She gave me a small nod, and went inside. I couldn't help but imagine that Mr. Nashe was going to ask me to leave.

He and my father hated each other's guts.

The maid was at the door again, and she finally gave me a small smile.

“Come with me,” she said calmly, and I gave her the small nod of my head as I followed her inside.

The house looked like it was newly refurbished, and I had to give it to him for the way he spent money.

“Garrett,” he said in a clipped tone, and I gave him a small smile that didn't even reach my eyes.

“Mr. Nashe,” I said calmly, and he gestured for me to sit, before sitting down himself. He cocked his head to the side, before speaking again.

“To what do I owe this visit?” He asked calmly, and I pressed lips into a thin line.

“Iris and Derek. I haven't seen them at school. I wanted to ask about their whereabouts.”

He narrowed his eyes at me, and I could tell that he didn't even have the answers.

“I don't know what's going on,” he said, pressing his lips into a thin line.

“I'm sure you know, sir. We can't just act like they don't matter.”

“Fine,” he finally said. “Something happened between Derek and I. I ended up laying a hand on him, and Iris dragged him away.”

My head was already hurting from everything he was saying.

I should have known right from the start, that Derek was from an abusive home. That explained his character towards people that he wasn't too close to.

“Do you know where they both are?” I asked, and he shrugged.

“Probably somewhere safe.”

That man didn't know where his only child and future daughter-in-law were. Yeah, that said a lot about him.

I quickly got to my feet, with a fake smile on my face.

“I should be on my way now,” I said calmly.

He gave a small nod, getting to shift weight as well. He gave me a small handshake.

“You should be careful about the things you're getting your hands into, Garrett,” he said calmly. “So that you don't end up like your dad.”

His hold on my hand tightened at that point, like he was waiting for me to lose my mind. I was more than willing to disappoint him at that point.

“It'll be fine,” I said calmly. “Thank you for your concern.”

With that, I headed out of the house.

I was already racking my brain as I tried to think about just where Iris might go to, to keep herself and Derek safe.

She wouldn't go to her father. The last time I checked, she was still angry at her father because he literally sold her off.

She wouldn't go there for any reason at all.

Her pack,” I immediately thought, and I climbed back on my motorcycle, heading out of the Nashe compound.

I immediately rode there and what I saw from the gate was enough to make me turn back.

There were eloteral warriors with shields and swords, trying to fight the guards of the pack.

Ragner was there, and he was swooping as many as he could, out of the pack.

Oh, goddess.

“Where is she?” I muttered to myself, as I headed deeper into the pack. It was hard for me to breathe at that point.

I didn't want to believe that Iris had done something that would cause all this. I understood that she was more than curious about everything, but this was getting out of hand.

I ran a hand through my hair as I headed into the palace, and right into the throne room.

Pack members were running around, already panicking.

I grabbed one of the maids by the shoulder, strong enough to stop her from shaking.

“Where is Iris?” I asked immediately, and she licked her lips, trying so hard to catch her breath.

“She's…” she started, and I understood that she was panicking, but I was losing my patience by the second.

“Where is she?” I asked again, and she swallowed hard, before pointing to a door.

“In the chamber. I don't know what's happening there, but Marcus asked no one to go in.”

I gently pushed her to the side, and she called out to me like she was scared for me.

The last time I checked, I didn't listen to Marcus to begin with. It would be a pleasure to disobey him one more time.

Ask I walked in, I saw Iris first, standing like a statue. And then, a creature with a dark presence.

“What's happening?” I asked in a whisper, and all eyes were immediately turned in my direction.
