Chapter 6 Chapter Six
Chapter 6 Chapter Six
The witches' fortress stood tall and impenetrable from where Briar and the others were staring at it from the surrounding woods. It was at the outskirts of Kaelindor and they had to fly many leagues to get here. They were on higher ground so the view was perfect. Even from this distance, she could see how manned it was–guards on every floor. She walked back to where Alaric and the other vampires were talking strategy. How was she going to explain to them that their plan, whatever it was, wasn't going to work?
“Getting past the force field is our biggest problem.” Tobias said.
“Now that we have the human in our midst, it shouldn't be so hard.” said one of the vampires.
“What's she going to do? She's just…”Azriel's words were cut off by the sound of blade cutting flesh.
“Briar!” Alaric rushed to her side with anger and a question in his eyes. She had given herself a deep cut on her side.
“What do you think the witches are going to do when they find an injured young woman in the woods?” she asked.
That shut them up.
“What if they don't help you? You'll bleed out and die.” said Azriel.
“That's why Alaric will be nearby watching. Once I'm inside and they've healed me, I'll find a way to let you guys in.”
“Impressive. So you do have a brain.”Kieran said, raising his brows. She gave him her dirtiest look.
“No. It's too dangerous.” Alaric said his hand going to where she held her bleeding side. She backed away.
“What other choice do we have? This is the best way. And will you stop worrying about me? I kill your kind for a living.”
“But you're not just any human. Your hair will give you away. And if the witches' found out who you are, they'll kill you.” Tobias chipped in.
“That's why you're going to glamour me.”
“I'm afraid it doesn't work like that sweetheart. Vampires can only glamour themselves.”
“What about a witch?”
“I'm not a witch.”
“But you know witch stuff.”
Tobias sighed and Kieran chuckled.
“Come on Tobias. You must know something.” She urged.
Tobias closed his eyes and muttered something indecipherable. Hushes of surprise rang around the group and Briar looked to see her hair turn as black as the night.
“ Seems like you've been spending a lot of time with those books haven't you?” Azriel said.
“Someone has to do it.”
“Perfect. I can go now.” Briar said and turned to leave but Alaric held her back.
“What is it?”she said with gritted teeth. She was already losing too much blood and here he was wasting her time.
“Be careful.”
Briar was ready to give a snide remark but the earnesty in his eyes gave her pause. It was like he really cared. She narrowed her eyes and nodded.
As Briar walked in the direction of the fortress, she could feel her strength weakening. Her vision blurred and her feet shook. She dropped to her knees, the pain unbearable. She screamed as loud as she could hoping to alert them. Briar lay on the forest floor, her blood seeping into the earth, feeling her life force leave her. Then, darkness.
Briar's eyes flickered open trying to adjust to the light. She felt weak and groggy trying to get her bearings. The ceiling looked like it was going to fall on her any moment. She groaned out loud. Her hand instinctively went to her side. It was bandaged and throbbed with pain.
An excited feminine gasp. “She's awake.”
Her vision adjusted enough for her to see a dark haired young girl about Brooke's age leaning over her.
“Hi. How are you feeling? My name's Hannah.”
“Stop disturbing my patient.” said an older feminine voice. Another woman that looked to be in her late forties came to view.
“How do you feel?”
She tried to speak but her throat was as dry as sandpaper. Only a gritty sound came out.
“Quick get her some water.”
The young girl dashed out of the small room they were in and came back with a glass of water a few seconds later. Briar drank greedily.
“What's your name?”
“Briar.”
“I’m Selene and this is Hannah.” She said and Hannah waved. “When we found you in the woods, Briar, you were near death. What happened to you?”
“I…I was…attacked. By vampires…they…. they raped me…” Briar broke down in tears and Hannah rubbed her back comfortingly. Selene looked at her pityingly.
“ You were lucky to escape with your life. Those creatures bring nothing but evil. Whenever you're ready to talk about it, we'll listen. You're safe here for however long you like. I've already informed the leader of our coven.”
“Coven?” Briar asked
Hannah gave a cheeky grin. “We're Witches.”
Hours later Briar was still in bed drinking hot soup and listening to Hannah yap. It was annoying but she had to admit she had gotten some useful information.Like how almost all the witches had left this realm and the ones in the fortress were planning on tearing it apart. How they were currently searching for the ‘hunter’ so they could kill her. A shiver went through her involuntarily when Hannah said that. She only hoped this glamour would hold.
Hannah might also have slipped the location of the moonstone. It was secure–in the matron's chambers. The only problem was that she didn't know how to get Alaric and the others in. The shield surrounding the immediate area around this fortress was strong. The only way someone could get in was if they came with the witches like she did. Briar gasped.
Lightbulb.
Hannah paused her incessant chatter, looking at her concerned. “What is it?”
“Oh nothing. Just a little pain in my side.”
“Oh that's right. Selene told me to change your dressing. Silly me.”
Kieran kicked a rock and watched, unamused as it plopped into the stream.
“I'm bored.” He said but Tobias paid him no mind, leaning against a tree, reading. He was always reading. What was taking the human so long? It has been nearly three days and no sign of her. Maybe she decided to ditch them and stay with the witches. Kieran wouldn't be surprised. He walked over and snatched the book from Tobias’ hand, throwing it to the ground.
All he got was a blank stare.
“You've been ignoring me ever since I got here.”
“There are more pressing matters at hand than catering to your every whim.”
Kieran growled, pining Tobias to the tree. “You know what I mean.”
Tobias’ eyes looked around wearingly. “Stop it.Someone might see.”
“I don't give a fuck. Haven't you missed me?” He said, licking Tobias' neck. He felt him shiver. Kieran tried to probe into Tobias' mind, to know what he was thinking but as always, his walls were high. Other Vampires knew to be careful around Kieran but he was still able to get snippets. But not Tobias. Never Tobias. His mind was an impenetrable wall.
Kieran slid to his knees working at Tobias' trousers. It had been so long since they'd done this.
“Kieran…. stop…”
He ignored him, bringing him out and taking him straight in his mouth. Tobias groaned, thrusting more into his mouth. Kieran licked his underside and sucked greedily. Tobias' thrusts became harder, deeper, his moans louder.
Kieran felt pleasure spike through him but he would deal with that later. He felt Tobias' hand weave through his hair and tugged at it, hard.
“Fuck Kieran, I'm close.” Tobias said
Kieran looked up at Tobias, tears streaming down his eyes as he felt Tobias down his throat suffocating him. His face was contorted in pleasure as he fucked Kieran's face.
“Ugh.” Tobias grunted and Kieran felt his cum slid down his throat. He pleasured Tobias through it, sucking and licking till he was through.
He quickly pulled out, tucking himself in looking like he just regretted what they had just done.
Kieran stood, wiping his mouth. He didn't have a chance to say anything though because Azriel appeared. He pursed his lips at the sight of them. Kieran wanted to snap his neck.
“Briar's come out of the fortress with a witch. It might be time.”
“We'll be right there,” said Tobias, picking up his book. Immediately Azriel was out of sight, Tobias turned to him, more malice in his eyes than Kieran had ever seen before. “Don’t y
ou ever do that again.”
Kieran smirked to mask the hurt he was feeling.
“No promises.”
