Chapter 8: Part 4

Chapter 8: Part 4

Mara’s POV

The thought of Silas filling me, a punishing stretch that would have burned away the grief, but he removed his tensed, cold body from mine,my hand now cold from the loss of his throbbing cock, the knowing sigh that released from his lips, was the horrific shock back to reality I needed, not of what he had done but of where we were, the altar creaking beneath us, as he rolled over, metal groaning with relief from the loss of our weight. I looked over at him, the frustration on his face, mangled with guilt and fear, fear! He was worried, was it the cult? The fear of losing me? The thoughts invaded my mind like poisonous vines seeping into every memory

“Fuck you,” I spat, my voice breaking, tears spilling as I leaned over and kissed him once more unknowingly, knowing what was awaiting us, biting his lip, tasting blood—his, mine, ours—and he growled, his hands bruising my thighs, I pulled back knowing I had to pull myself together, I had to get through the unknown threat waiting before us, before I could even fathom what I would do with him this “monster”, the word still felt like venom in my mind, a part that did not feel that the word was right, as furious as I was with him, the word did not fit him, even after what I had discovered.

I pushed myself up, composing what little self control I had and became serious, the ominous gaping maw loomed heavy over us like a dark, deceiving cloud, shrouded in danger and disparity, would we overcome this, would we make it out alive, doubt clouded me and my heart began to pick up the pace, Silas placed his cold hard hand on my shoulder, soothing the feverish fear bubbling up.

Silas’s POV

Her words echoed in my ears, all I could muster up was a weak nod and a feeble “I’m sorry,” I whispered, the words scraping his throat, raw with a guilt I’d carry for centuries.

I’d killed Jake, a sin I couldn’t undo, but she was here, alive, her fire unbroken, and I’d spend eternity making it right—protecting her, loving her, even if she never forgave me.

I tried to get up my body now filled with the silver coursing through me, as I stood up, my knees buckled under my weight, my body going limp, I went crashing to the ground, I was succumbing to the effects of the silver and not having fed in a few day’s, the spots started to dance around my eyes, as I began to feel the world go black, I heard Mara’s voice screaming , was that panic? Was she worried I was about to die, some part of me hoped this was true, hope that she still despite everything she had discovered wanted me, maybe even loved me a little, but I feel that thought was reaching, I heard her voice stern, over my own loud consuming thoughts “ Silas, Silas” she screamed “what is happening get up” was she mad I tried to pull myself to say something , all I managed was “blood”, before the blackness had consumed me, finally some peace I thought, four hundred years and now death has come, at the most inopportune moment, yet finally come. At least I got to see her, me her, feel her and for once in this cursed life feel love.

Mara’s POV

The rage ebbed, leaving a hollow ache. As I watched him fall to the ground like a dead body, he went limp and crashed into the ground. I was screaming his name , begging him to get up, but with nothing but a gentle smile on his face, could he hear me? What was happening! Fear coursed through me like a wildfire, I had to get him up, get him back to me, a sob began to break from my lip as I called out to him and shook him fervently, “come back to me” I sobbed into his chest.

Pull your fucken self back together Mara, “fuck” I spat out and called his name sternly “Silas, Silas” I began to slap his face, but her was unmoving, “what is happening get up” I continued to shake him, he let out a feeble sound, small, breathless, I could barely make it out “blood”, I released him as I realised he hadn’t fed since we had met, he had silver coursing through him, a pang of guilt hit me, I was part of the reason he had silver, small yes, but I played my part. He needed blood to survive, to get up, to finish this fight. Here I was at a crossroads, would I leave him, let him die for what he had done, collect my bounty and move on, could I , could I live with myself if I make that choice, or do I give him my blood, let him feed on me, the thought sent a ripple through my body into the pit of my stomach, was I turned on at the thought of him drinking my blood, I hesitated, slightly shocked at the thoughts and the reaction my treacherous body had towards this man.

“Ah fuck man” I knew what I had to do, I took a few short breaths and bent down digging through the duffle looking for a sharp object with no silver, “shit” I mumbled there was nothing, I began to frantically look around and found a rusted sharp piece of metal “I am seriously going to regret this later” I said and sliced into my wrist, I clenched my jaw and hissed at the sting of the rusted metal tearing into my flesh, this better fucken work, I don’t want to die from fucken tetanus.

I held out my bleeding wrist by Silas’s mouth praying to whatever gods may be out there that this worked. “Please work” I whispered a single tear dripped from my lashes.

Silas POV

I felt warmth against my cold lips, and suddenly a hot thick liquid filled the lining of my lips, a texture I’d recognise anywhere, blood! it began to pool in my mouth and slide down the back of my throat, I began to feel my body come back to life, my arms shot up to grab the source of the life sustaining liquid, and sucked at it fervently,my eyes shot open, blood red as the always changed when drinking and I came face to face with my rescuer, Mara’s eyes stared back at me filled with fear, shock and desire, desire? No I must be mistaken, I watched as the colour started to drain from her face, fuck stop Silas stop, her blood was tangy, sweet, and intoxicating. Allowing the fear in her eyes to be my strength I pulled away, taking in a breath as though it was my first, “thank you” I said sitting up fully now “you didn’t have to save me like this” I paused realising what the scene must have done to her already fragile emotions, I could hear your heartbeat, rapidly rising. She cleared her throat and spoke authoritatively. “You good now?” she raised an I brow, and tore a piece of her already tattered shirt and wrapped it around her wrist “you better be, because I did not just cut myself open for nothing did I?” she questioned, a smirk played across my face, feeling the strength regain in my body, more than any other blood had caused before. “I’m perfect” I pulled her into my chest, embracing her, I would never let her get away from me again.
