Chapter 87: Human Nature!
Author's POV
"King, they both were locked in the store room for a good time"
The guard informed Rafael.
Rafael couldn't control his laugh.
"Good, separation is working the way it should... They would have fought and hurt each other if they were staying together now."
Meanwhile Damon was talking to Yang in the office.
"No update?"
"Nothing, Thakur's really closed the case to save their reputation. I don't think they know anything about what Mira did, they all think it was an accident."
Yang informed.
"Who made the divorce papers?"
Damon questioned.
"That advocate must know the reason behind it, right?... I want to know who initiated the divorce."
"Damon, it was___"
Yang cleared his throat.
"It was Neel!"
"What?"
He scowled.
"Yeah, it was Neel who helped Mira to get the divorce papers..."
He informed.
"I talked to that advocate but he works for Neel so he didn't tell me much but there were problems between Mira and Kabir and she wanted to divorce him..."
Damon was in deep thoughts by now, not understanding what he must have done that Mira decided to divorce him and why that divorce turned into murder.
"Not just this but their friends were also noticing the changes between Kabir and Mira... Mira had worked on the big project and her organisation threw a party for her success but Kabir didn't attend it, Neel was there but Kabir wasn't... Everyone was surprised by it... I inquired with some of their common friends but no one is really aware of the problems between them."
"Neel!"
Damon gritted.
"He is playing an important role in this scandal, Yang... Dig deeper, I want everything about this Neel... Why was he always around Mira even after her marriage?"
"Working on it!"
Yang assured.
Damon looked at the thing which he found in the burnt house under his feet. It was Mira's broken mangalsutra. He caressed the golden pendant in his hand. It was obvious that it was snatched from her neck and got shattered on the floor.
His heart sank while imagining how it must have snatched away from her.
"What happened that day?"
He sighed.
He decided to go to the office to see her, but he saw Marona when he walked out. Something crossed his mind and he stopped.
"Hii!"
Marona looked at him and smiled.
"Hi, Damon..."
"Can I?"
He asked for the permission to sit beside her and she nodded.
"You look bothered!"
She asked while keeping her book away.
"Yeah, I had one doubt... We all know that Mira killed Kabir in the fire but when I was in the forest with her once and she saw wildfire, she got panic attacks and was literally going to jump into the fire.. It wasn't fake, I saw that pain in her eyes."
He asked her confused.
"Why? When she killed him then why the pain?"
Marona nodded in understanding.
"Mira is really devoted to her emotions, Damon... She was in love with Kabir to the extent where she left everything behind for him so you can understand the level of devotion... It's not easy to leave luxury for anything but she did... I don't know the reason but Kabir must have done something to hurt her devotion and when that happens then the person breaks... Devotion is like a pure sacrifice for someone and when it's hurt then it becomes difficult for the person to handle it. The same must have happened with Mira, Kabir must have done something to hurt her deeply which made her angry and she killed him... After killing him the anger got satisfied but what about the devotion she was living with, she was still struggling to fight against it. Sometimes it becomes difficult for the person to accept the reality and the same must have happened with her. Mira is young, her mind will play with her. Sometimes she will be happy that she killed him and sometimes she will regret doing it because she loved him once. The guilt is normal. She might think that she should have used a less brutal way or she shouldn't have killed him at all, or maybe she should have forgiven him... All kinds of thoughts can cross her mind... If she has spent some memorable moments with him then she will remember those too, while drowning herself in guilt... Her mind was not strong enough to take that trauma the way she thought she could handle it, that's why whenever she sees a huge fire, her mind takes her back to the day where she burnt Kabir, but this time she might try to stop the fire which she didn't do that day because she is not feeling that rage at the moment... Next time she sees fire then she might want to make it worse for him because she feels hurt... It's on how your mind plays with you... She loved him and she will feel guilty, there is no solution for that. It's human nature."
Damon sighed and rubbed his face.
"Right! Thanks... But why do you think that she took such a drastic step? Is it related to human nature?"
Marona nodded.
"Sometimes!.. Humans can only tolerate something to the extent, if it becomes unbearable then anyone can take drastic steps to stop it... As much as I know Mira, she looks like a sorted girl. She knows how to think and plan. She knows whom to treat in a specific way, you must have noticed that she fights with Patricia but on the other hand she has made Rafael her brother. She doesn't fight with everyone because she knows who can be useful to her and who isn't... So we can't say that she took these steps stupidly, it was properly planned... It wasn't out of anger, Mira planned Kabir's death and then executed it... Kabir must have done something to build that frustration and anger within her because of which she decided to kill him... And like you said, her family wasn't in her support so there is a possibility that Mira tried to solve the matter but didn't get the support so she would have felt helpless and took the matter in her own hands."
"You are right, she only hurts people when they hurt her..."
He agreed.
"And she hurts the person exactly to the extent which she herself has endured."
"Then Kabir must have done something to deserve the brutal death."
Marona assured .
Damon nodded.
"Thanks"
He reached Mariana's office and took his place. He noticed Mira working with her team and everyone was happy, she was a good lead and he could notice that people are comfortable around her.
"Mira?"
One of her team members called her.
"Yes, Genie..."
Mira answered while typing on her laptop.
"We need to take the approval from Damon Sir for the cost..."
She informed.
Mira checked it and smiled.
"Perfect, go and show him... I am sure he will approve, we have done a good job."
"But I am scared. He is so rude!"
She was nervous.
"You are a girl, he won't do anything to you."
Mira assured.
Genie gulped and went to Damon's office.
"Sir, I wanted to show the cost for approval."
Damon smirked at her, he knows that Mira is trying to avoid him.
"Rejected!"
Genie looked at him shocked, he rejected it without looking at them. She didn't dare to question him and went back.
"He rejected it..."
She sat beside Mira sadly.
"He didn't even see it... Arrogant jerk!"
Mira hissed when she cursed Damon.
"Okay, calm down. Rowena, you go and show him after some time. He might be in a bad mood right now!"
Rowena went to his office after sometime and Damon rejected her without even looking at her.
"Oh god! Is he crazy?... How are we going to work like this?"
Rowena came back while fuming in anger.
Mira felt really bad when they cursed Damon not knowing that Mira is his wife.
"Sam, take the old estimate and show him."
Mira instructed the boy, knowing he was too gentle to reject the girls but he was going to roast boys.
Sam was confused but went to Wolf's den with an old estimation.
Damon asked him to present and he did.
"Is this your negotiation?"
He asked sharply.
"Bring it fifty percent down and then come to me for approval."
Sam nodded and went out of his cabin.
"You knew he would say that, right? That's why you showed him the old estimate... You are so smart!"
Mira smirked.
"I know how his mind works"
She sent the fourth member of the team with fifty percent cost reductions.
"If you can bring it down to fifty then you still have scope... Bring it down a bit more."
Damon ordered.
"And tell your lead that sending her minions won't work..."
"He wants us to bring it down more..."
Leh huffed.
"He is so demanding."
"Wait!"
Mira grabbed the original estimate and decided to show him by herself.
"He is not going to hear you out... He is a jerk."
Rowena scowled.
Mira chuckled.
"Trust me!"
She took a deep breath and knocked on the door. Damon smirked when she entered inside.
"Rejected!"
He declared.
Mira slapped the paper on his desk and grabbed his collar.
"Listen, Mr. Husband..."
She challenged him.
"Stop bothering me and my team with your childish games and sign the fucking approval."
Damon raised his eyebrows amused at her delicate hold on his collar.
"I can put a POSH on you for this behaviour."
Mira smirked.
"I would love to see you complaining about me... Imagine a mafia boss complaining to people that he got harassed by his wife."
She slapped the pen on his chest.
"Sign it!"
Damon bit back his amused laugh and sighed the approval.
Mira smirked and grabbed the paper.
"Thanks"
Damon pulled her on his lap before she could walk away.
"Nothing comes without compromise, little fire!"
Mira looked at him challengingly.
"This is highly inappropriate behaviour, Mr. Delgado... It's called harassment in the corporate language."
Damon travelled his hand under her skirt and she gulped.
"Not when you liked it."
She gasped when he teased her wetness.
Mira leaned closer and he captured her lips in a passionate kiss. She moaned in his mouth when he pushed aside her panty and inserted two fingers inside her.
"Fuck, you are so wet."
He bit on her lips.
Mira looked into his eyes as heat travelled in her body under his touch.
"Ride my fingers like a good girl!"
He massaged her boobs over her shirt.
It was driving her crazy, Damon enjoyed the sight as she rode him passionately. Her red face was a bliss to his eyes.
Her each movement satisfied him.
Mira's mouth dropped open when she released herself with a gasp and her eyes darkened when he licked his fingers.
"Sweet!"
He teased.
Mira was still in daze when they heard a knock on the door. It was her bodyguard.
"Shit!"
