Chapter 58

Nathaniel’s POV.

A week has passed. A week since I took Selene out on an official date. This past week has been incredible. Selene seemed to be glowing with happiness, her touches drove me wild. I had a hard time taking my eyes off her. Especially when she’d wear those cute sundresses when we’d meet up outside the office.

I had a great chance romanticizing my son’s mother and I wouldn’t let that chance go to waste. In fact, that chance hasn’t gone wasted at all. I made sure to send her flowers every day at the office. Selene loved every moment of it because the employee suspected it was someone else so we got away with secretly dating.

Only Kai and Anya were aware of us dating and we obviously wished to keep it that way. It wasn’t safe to bring this out to the public and if I had my way, I’d never let the world know about Selene and Roman. They are the last piece of happiness I got to keep completely to myself. It was the purest form of love and happiness, something straight from a dream of mine and I planned on cherishing both her and Roman for the rest of my life. I know how extremely lucky I was for this chance.

Roman came to work with us on some things, mostly on days when Selene didn’t have many meetings so we’d get to spend our time with Roman. Today I only had one meeting with Yaden and before the day would end, I had another meeting with a client in Germany.

Roman ran into my office with a big slushie in hand and a grin on his face. “Look what I’ve got!”

“That’s a big cup of slushie, buddy,” I pointed out, watching as he plopped down on my couch. This level of the place was restricted to some people and many don’t know that this child came to my office whenever he was here. He had some markers, a coloring book along with some toys in my office. There was even a kid’s blanket that was neatly folded on the couch. You could tell that there was a child presence in this room and I loved it. My office felt a lot warmer.

“Mhm! Mama said I had to share with you though,” Roman sighed dramatically and took a sip of the drink. His baby blue eyes were focused on me and I couldn’t help but smile. I bet he used those same pretty eyes to get what he wanted.

“Yeah? What flavors are those?” I asked, getting up and walking to my cabinet.

“Blue, red, grape!” he answered. I chuckled, of course he’d think blue and red were a flavor but I decided to leave him be.

“Sounds like a delicious combo, let me grab my glass,” I mentioned, taking a glass and walking back over to him.

“Here you go,” Roman handed me the drink and waited patiently for me to finish up what I was doing.

I poured some of the drink into my cup. I think the last time I had this was when I was a child. I couldn’t even remember but seeing how happy Roman was about it made me want to drink this sugary substance for him.

We drank our slush and began to play with some puzzles. When I had work to take care of, I turned on the TV for him and went to my computer. I was busy with the reports and would occasionally look at him. He’d smile at me, his tongue all purple and we’d talk about whatever was happening in the cartoon he was watching so attentively.

He even came to sit with me so we could ‘work’ together. I’m sure he was just pretending he understood these reports but I didn’t call him out on it once. We continued to work ‘together’ when the door suddenly opened. Roman and I both looked ahead.

“There’s my little guy,” Kai said as he entered the office.

“Uncle Kai!” Roman ran up to Kai.

“How are you, buddy? Did you show Nathaniel how to work?” Kai asked as he picked Roman up and kissed his cheeks.

“Mhm,” Roman hummed.

“Yeah? Did you make big money deals?” Kai tickled him and I just smiled, closing the programs on my computer.

“I got extra slushie!” Roman replied. Of course, he threw me under the bus, luckily it wasn’t Selene who heard this.

“I suppose that counts as the same,” Kai laughed and began to pick up Roman’s things, indicating it was time for them to go.

“Mhm, where are we going?” Roman frowned, his eyes moving to mine with a slight frown. It warmed my heart that he might want to stick here with me.

“We’re going to grab some stuff at Auntie Anya's shop then we’ll go to the shop,” Kai explained. Anya’s bakery had the best treats, I went there several times already and loved my pastries every time. I can imagine Roman being as crazy for it as I was.

“Oh! Yes!” Roman clapped his hands excitedly.

“Say goodbye to Nathaniel quickly,” Kai put him down and he ran straight to me, hugging me instantly.

“Goodbye, Mr. Sul,” he said ever so politely.

“Goodbye, buddy, I’ll see you at dinner,” I smiled and hugged him one last time before having to let go.

Roman ran back into Kai’s arm and Kai tipped his head at me as goodbye. I watched as the two exited my office and I just smiled at them. Kai got to take him out in public freely, Anya and Selene too. I’m sure that the moment I’d try there would be many photos circling around. Every public outing with him was carefully planned and I have to alert my PR team in case something pops up.

Selene stepped into the office, a teasing smile on her lips as she closed the door behind her. She sauntered to me slowly and I sat back, watching this graceful woman make her way to me.

“Hey you,” she greeted, taking a seat in my lap. Her arms wrapped around me and I placed mine on her waist, watching her with a smile.

“Hello, Selene,” I smiled, carefully tucking her hair out of her face.

“Roman’s out. I’m finished with work… I assume you are too?” Selene asked, trailing her finger over my beard. She wouldn’t be doing this if she wasn’t 100% sure no one would come here. I assume that that assistant of hers was sent home early today.

“I had a meeting but it was rescheduled, I see it was all intended,” I smirked and leaned over to kiss her.

“Not here, take me out for food first. Then you take me to your penthouse, Mr Sullivan,” Selene smirked, kissing my lips then winked at me.

Selene's POV.

It was now two weeks later…

Yes, a whole two weeks had passed. These past two weeks had been filled with so many little dates for us Nathaniel and I, trips with Roman. My goodness that man knew just how to make Roman excited.

Nathaniel took us to waterparks, he took us to fun kids' dinner I didn’t even know they had, and little dessert spots. He even had us make desserts together and I never even knew Roman loved baking.

Nathaniel found that out and it sorta became their thing. Mama makes dinner and those two whip up something for dessert. Child care was a lot easier now though, Roman would sometimes come to the office with me and Nathaniel would look after him when I had a meeting to get to. On other days Roman would be looked after by his aunt.

It was clear to me how much Nathaniel was enjoying every moment of this. Anything I offered, he took up right away. After some time I finally decided it was time. It was time that Roman learned the truth about Nathaniel. He had the right to officially know that this man was introduced to him as his father.

Nathaniel had dealt with every emotion of Roman already and I knew it was only three weeks but he could’ve run off but didn’t. Roman loved Nathaniel and loved how Nathaniel treated me. He could finally know that the man he loves so much is his daddy.

So, here goes nothing I guess. Roman was around us, running and I looked at Nathaniel for a moment and smiled at him.

“So Roman, we have something to tell you,” I told Roman and took his little hands in mine, pulling him over to us.

“What is it?” Roman asked, parting his hair in the middle and moving it out of his eyesight. He doesn’t want to cut his hair because of the characters he saw on TV, Thor, and Loki, more Thor to be specific, he wants to be just like him. He was already halfway there though, he had blue eyes and blond hair and would probably grow to be a tall guy.

“Well, uh remember how you once asked about your father?” I asked, helping him get his hair out of the way.

“Uhuh, my daddy?” Roman confirmed and sat up on the couch with the help of Nathaniel.

“Yes about your daddy, well I have some news for you,” I told him. I knew Roman was a smart boy and I didn’t exactly need to beat around the bush. He deserved to know everything however I knew for his age he’d have some questions and I would answer them as truthfully as I could without also hurting his feelings so if I had to lie a little, I’d lie.

“What is it, Mama?” He asked, those big baby blues focused on me and batting his lashes.
