Chapter 34

A week later:

Seher's POV

I was in my maternal home. Ashi ma fainted at the hospital due to a load of hospital work so I came here to check up on her.

Ashi ma came to dinner in Khurana mansion three days ago as per mom invited her. Ashi ma and mom became best friends, the whole family was happy and I was happy to see them happy.

In the morning I was helping mom in making breakfast when I got a call from my home. A butler called me and informed me that Ashi ma fainted at the hospital and she was not taking care of herself nowadays.

I was worried about her so I and Mayank came to visit her. Mayank left after some time as he has to go to the office and I thought to spend my day here with Ashi ma.

I cooked for her. She loves my handmade foods. "How can you be so careless about your health Ashi ma? I heard you are not taking care of yourself and taking too much stress about your work" I started scolding her and she was smiling at me. "Why are you smiling?" I asked with my frown brows.

"You are behaving like I am your daughter and you are my mother as you are scolding me," she said while laughing and I also joined her.

It's evening now and we are having our evening snacks with some chit chat while watching a movie. It's been so long since we watched a movie together.

"Seher?" Ashi ma called me. I hummed while my focus was on the movie.

"Did you talk with Mayank?" She asked skeptically and I started looking here and there. She sighed and gave my hand a gentle squeeze "dear, The longer you put in, the more problems will increase for you" she was trying to put some sense in me.

"He needs to believe me before telling him the truth, I don't want him to think that I am making any kind of excuse and just want him to forgive me," I said in a low voice. Yes, I want him to trust me completely. "But that was not your fault, that was your helplessness," she said and I looked at her.

"But still he was broken because of me, he left everything even after he left the country, I almost accepted that I could never meet him again, but destiny paired us again," I said, recalling the past.

"Okay as you want but I want you to be happy if your happiness lies with him then be happy, you have sacrificed a lot, but not anymore," she said the last part in a sad tone. "I am more than happy Ashi ma, don't take tension, he loves me as much as I love him" I assured her with a bright smile and she smiled back.

Then my phone started ringing. I picked up the phone and the caller ID flashed Mayank❤. A smile makes its way on my lips. He must be coming to pick me up.

She picks the call and the news she gets it snatched the earth from beneath her feet. The phone slid down from her hand. Tears pooled her eyes. All the air knocked on her chest and her heartbeat stopped that moment. Her body was shaking.

"The man to whom this phone belongs has had an accident and he has just been admitted to XYZ Hospital, he got injured badly," the person said from another side.

"What happened? Why are you shaking so badly, Seher?" Ashwini asked, being worried. "Ashi ma... Woh... Mayank... Accident...Hospital" she was stuttering badly and started sobbing. Ashwini understood that she was not in a state to talk about anything.

"Okay just calm down, let's go to the hospital," Ashwini said and she nodded, grabbing the car keys she ran out of the house.

Ashwini sat on the driving seat while Seher sat on the passenger seat and they drove to the hospital. All the way she was crying, being impatient she was just asking her Ashi ma to drive fast. She was praying to God that he would be fine.

"Ashi ma drives fast, please," she said,she was worried so much for him. "We will reach there in 10 minutes bacha, please calm down, he will be fine," Ashwini said to her, seeing her in this condition.

Soon they reached the hospital and she ran towards the reception. "Mayank Khurana is in which ward?" She asked the receptionist. She checked on the computer and told her to go ward number 207 which she nodded and walked as fast as she could.

As soon as she approached the ward she opened the door with a thud. She saw him laying on the bed with bandages around his head and right arm. A sob left her mouth which didn't go unnoticed by him. She walked towards the bed with her shaky legs and sat across from him.

He was half laying on the bed. She touched his injured head and tears fell down her cheeks. He sat up hastily and brought his hand in front of her face and wiped away her tears. "Relax, I am fine," he said softly, looking into her teary eyes.

She caressed the corner of his lips where the blood dried. He hissed a little and she instantly pulled back her hand. But he brought her hand back to his lips and caressed his wound with her hand softly smiling at her.

She wanted to say something but her lips were trembling so much and her tears were rolling down her cheeks continuously that the words could not come out of her mouth. Seeing her in this state he hugged her slightly with his fine hand.

"I am fine, stop crying," he said, breaking the hug and wiping her tears. "How did it all happen?" After some time she asked. "I was on my way coming to pick you up and was trying to call you when suddenly a car came in front and I lost my balance and hit the tree" he narrated the whole thing.

"I should have come home by myself, you got hurt because of me," she said in a low tone while weeping. " Stop blaming yourself, it's not your fault but mine," he said and wiped her flowing tears. "No, it's mine" she asserted while shaking his head. "Seher stop it, stop blaming yourself," he said firmly.

"No, it's.... " she cut off by him. He put his finger on her lips. "Shhh, One more word against my wife and I will kiss you hard, very hard," he whispered scarcely looking straight into her eyes and she smiled.

The doctor came into his ward and their trance broke he checked up on him. "You will be fine in two or three days, take some rest and you will be discharged from the hospital after 2 hours," the doctor said to them and Seher let out a breath which she was holding. I don't know how long.

" Okay doctor," she said and then the door opened and all the family members came in with Ashwini, she informed his family about him and they all came.

His mother came and sat on the stool beside the bed. Seeing her son injured like this, his mother's eyes filled with tears. "Relax mom, I am fine now," he said with a smile wiping her tears.

The doctor instructed Seher about his medicine and how to take care of him and after all the process they came home back.

"I want to go to my room," Mayank said and Seher helped him and took him to the room while everyone had their dinner and retired to their rooms. She sat him down on the bed "you stay here I will bring your dinner to the room" she said and was about to go when he held her arms and pulled her on the bed and her eyes widened.

"Mayank, your hand is injured," she reminded him. "Shhh, nothing will happen," he said softly tugging her hair strands behind her ear.

"Okay, now let me bring your dinner, you have to take medicine after that," she said and he nodded and left her. She came to the kitchen and served his dinner on a plate and went to their room.

She was feeding him silently. She took the morsel in front of him but he stopped her and took the morsel from her hand and held it in front of her mouth and gestured to her to eat.

She denied but he thrust the morsel in her mouth. They both fed each other lovingly and after dinner, she gave him the medicine he made faces but her one glare shut him up and he took the medicine without any tantrums.

She laid him down on the bed carefully and tugged him with the duvet. She went to the kitchen taking the used dishes and dumped them into the sink.

After sometimes she came to the room he was half laying on the bed pressing his head with his fingers. She sat beside him and caressed his hair. "Does it hurt?" She asked and he nodded.

She slowly started massaging his head. He put his head on her lap and gestured to her to continue. She gave him a nice massage which soothed his aches. And soon he drifted into slumber because of the heavy doses. She smiled looking at him and kissed his forehead and kept massaging until she fall asleep.

In the morning:

He stirred in his sleep and opened his eyes and found her beside him sleeping in a sitting position. Her one hand was intertwined with his while another hand was on his head. He sat up slowly and she opened her eyes.

"Good morning" he wished, kissing her forehead. She smiled and wished him back. "How are you feeling now?" she asked "much better" he replied with a smile.

She stood up to go to the washroom when she felt pain in her back. "Is it painful?" He asked, walking towards her. She smiled at him and nodded in no. "It will be fine after taking a shower" she replied and went inside the washroom.
