Chapter 85: Embracing a New Life

Emily and James got ready in a flash, and the three of them headed out together. They decided to hit up a popular breakfast joint nearby, famous for its almond milk and churros.

As they strolled down the morning streets, sunlight peeked through the trees, casting a warm glow. Shops were just starting to open, signaling the start of a new day.

At the breakfast spot, they grabbed a small table loaded with mouth-watering goodies.

The almond milk was subtly sweet, with a hint of vanilla. Leaning over, Joseph took a small sip. The smooth milk spread across his tongue, and the warmth slid down his throat, warming his stomach.

The churros were a sight to behold. Golden and crispy on the outside, they were generously dusted with cinnamon sugar, making them look irresistibly appetizing.

The owner also brought over a small pot of thick, velvety chocolate sauce.

Joseph couldn't wait to take a bite of the churros. The taste made him close his eyes to savor the simple yet exquisite flavor.

Seeing Joseph's delighted expression, Emily and James smiled. Emily said, "Looks like you really love the churros here." Joseph opened his eyes and nodded. "Yeah, these are the best churros I've ever had. The almond milk is also super rich, and the combo is just perfect."

James agreed. "This place has been around forever. Emily and I have been coming here since we were kids."

Emily added, "And the owner is great. Every time we come, he gives us some sauce. It really adds a unique flavor to the churros.."

Hearing this, Joseph dipped his churro into the rich chocolate, savoring the indulgent flavor. The contrast between the hot churro and the cool almond milk was refreshing, creating a perfect balance of textures and tastes. He smiled, "Indeed. The combo is simply perfect."

James smiled. "Absolutely. Our area might be old, but there's plenty of good food. Once you settle in, I'll take you to try other local specialties."

"That sounds awesome. I can't resist good food," Joseph said with a grin.

They enjoyed their meal, chatting and laughing. Sunlight streamed through the breakfast spot's clear windows, filling the place with warmth and happiness.

Other diners were also enjoying their food. Some office workers were quickly eating breakfast before a busy day; some elderly folks were leisurely savoring the quiet morning. The staff bustled around, serving delicious food to everyone.

After finishing their breakfast, the three of them stood up to leave. Joseph quickly paid the bill before Emily and James could.

As the breakfast ended, Joseph felt like he had fully integrated into this small group. Emily and James' acceptance and friendliness made him feel incredibly at ease and comfortable. For Joseph, this morning was more than just a meal. It marked a beautiful beginning to his new life, symbolizing their friendship and the warmth of home.

Walking down the street, Joseph felt like a whole new person compared to the nervous wreck he was when he first showed up at Emily's door. Now, he was brimming with happiness and excitement, looking forward to the future. He knew that no matter what life threw at him, he had friends, a home, and love.

Meanwhile, Ella had heard from a nurse in her department about a breakfast spot in the old town that was supposed to be insanely good. The almond milk and freshly made churros combo was apparently out of this world.

Being a total foodie, Ella wasn't about to miss out on this!

After wrapping up a long night shift, Ella finally had a half-day off in the morning. Without wasting a second, she drove straight to the breakfast spot, eager to see if the hype was real. Of course, she didn't forget her best friend, Sophia. As soon as she got off work, she called Sophia, urging her to get up. Ella knew Sophia would totally get her love for food, especially after a grueling night.

When the call connected, Ella's excited voice came through loud and clear. "Sophia, wake up! My colleague told me about this amazing breakfast spot in the old town with incredible milk. I'm heading there now, and I'll bring some over so we can eat together!"

Still half-asleep, Sophia didn't quite catch what Ella was saying and didn't respond right away. Not hearing a response, Ella quickly added, "Sophia, wake up! Don't sleep in. Make me some oatmeal."

On the other end, Sophia, though woken up early by Ella's call, wasn't mad. As her best friend since forever, Sophia knew how tough Ella's job was and understood her love for good food.

After gathering her thoughts, Sophia smiled gently. This time, she clearly heard Ella's request and was willing to do anything for her, even getting up early to make oatmeal.

Sophia's tone had a mix of indulgence and helplessness. She knew about Ella's food obsession but was happy to fulfill her small wishes. "I can't believe you still have the energy to drive so far for breakfast after a night shift. Alright, I'll get up now and make you some oatmeal."

"And I want a vegetable salad too, but no carrots because you make it the best," Ella added, pushing her luck.

"Got it, but the carrots stay. As a doctor, you should know that not eating carrots isn't good for you!" Sophia's tone had a hint of insistence and care. She wanted Ella to have a balanced diet. After all, health was super important for a doctor.

"No problem. Thanks, Sophia. I'll bring you some delicious food!" Without needing to say more, the mutual understanding between them made Ella fully grasp Sophia's intentions.

Ella drove towards the old town with great anticipation. Along the way, she felt particularly cheerful, as if she had already tasted the delicious breakfast.

Finally, Ella found the breakfast spot. There was a long line at the entrance, but Ella didn't mind one bit. Her eyes sparkled with excitement, convinced that the food here would be worth the wait.

Ella eagerly took out her phone and snapped a photo of the spot, then sent it to Sophia.
