Chapter 188 Do You Think I’m as Easy to Fool as I Was Six Years Ago?
"You think I'm stupid?"
Madison looked at Alexander, whose expression was clearly off, and let out a cold laugh.
She'd never seen Alexander completely wasted before. He always knew his limits when it came to drinking.
Savannah saw Madison about to get involved and gritted her teeth, sneering, "Done pretending? Weren't you saying you weren't back to steal him from me? Now you're all over him again."
Madison knew Savannah was being nasty on purpose to drive her away. Instead of falling for it, she raised her hand and slapped Savannah hard across the face.
Then, under Savannah's shocked stare, she grabbed Alexander and pulled him to her side.
"You... you actually hit me!"
Savannah glared at Madison, eyes burning with rage.
Madison checked on Alexander while throwing out a sarcastic remark. "Savannah, you really think I'm as easy to fool as I was six years ago?"
Savannah froze, frowning at her.
Madison looked up, her voice icy. "Remember how you tricked me into getting rid of the baby back then?"
Just thinking about how Savannah almost fooled her into losing both babies made Madison's blood run cold. She wanted to tear her apart.
Six years later, she was still trying the same old tricks.
Savannah's face went pale then flushed, looking completely humiliated.
She watched Alexander, now tucked against Madison with his cheeks turning red, and felt like she was losing her mind.
The drug was kicking in. If this dragged on, she wouldn't be able to take him with her.
"I don't know what you're talking about. Give him to me!"
She reached out desperately to grab Alexander, but Madison slapped her hand away.
Savannah tried to push forward again, but two figures suddenly stepped in front of her.
Seeing who they were, Savannah's face darkened. She hadn't expected Madison to bring backup.
"Madison, take him and go. We've got this," Claire said, blocking Savannah.
Madison nodded at Claire and Marcus. "Thanks. Something's wrong with him. I'm taking him to the hospital."
With that, she struggled to help Alexander out.
Savannah could only watch, stomping her feet in frustration. "Who the hell are you? Mind your own business. That's my boyfriend!"
"Your boyfriend?" Claire scoffed, glancing at Marcus. "Did you know your cousin had a girlfriend like this?"
Marcus smiled calmly. "My cousin only sees Madison as his wife."
Savannah's face twisted.
Claire smirked again. "You know what happens when you drug someone? I'm taking you to the cops today."
Savannah's expression faltered. "What are you talking about? When did you see me drug him?"
"Both eyes saw it." Claire laughed coldly.
She'd seen everything clearly from upstairs. That's why she called Madison.
"Psychos!" Savannah tried to slip away, but Marcus blocked her.
She started acting shameless. "What are you doing? I'll scream!"
Claire sneered. "Go ahead. I'll make sure everyone hears about what you did."
Seeing they weren't budging, Savannah dropped the act. "The drug Alexander took isn't something a hospital can fix. Madison can't handle him alone. If you don't help and something happens, don't regret it."
Claire frowned at her confident tone and looked at Marcus.
"Could something actually go wrong?"
While they hesitated, Savannah shoved past them and bolted.
Madison's phone rang as she stopped at a red light.
Claire's voice came through, panicked. "Madison, the hospital won't help with the drug Alexander took!"
Madison frowned and glanced at the man in the backseat.
He was already in bad shape. Still not fully awake, he kept muttering about being hot and yanking at his clothes.
"What do I do?"
"You'll have to deal with it yourself."
"No way!"
She'd finally put distance between her and Alexander. Getting tangled up again would make things impossible to explain once he woke up.
"Too late. He's your problem now." Claire hung up.
Madison called out a few times, but the line was dead.
She bit her lip and checked the rearview mirror at Alexander, then gritted her teeth and decided to take him to her place.
The two kids were at school, so the house was empty.
She helped him from the underground parking lot upstairs without anyone noticing.
After laying him on the bed, she went to the kitchen, filled a bowl with ice water, and splashed it on his face.
"Alexander, snap out of it!" She patted his cheek.
The man slowly opened his eyes. When he saw who was next to him, his gaze darkened. "Am I... dreaming?"
His voice was hoarse, and he was breathing hard.
Madison frowned. "Stay with me. I'll take you to the bathroom for a cold soak. It might help."
A little cold water had already woken him up, so maybe a cold bath would work.
Alexander had some awareness now. The heat in his body was unbearable, so he nodded and reached for her. "I don't have the strength. Help me."
Madison thought he looked dangerous right now and hesitated. "How about... you walk on your own?"
She really didn't want to touch him. The way he was staring at her felt like he wanted to devour her.
Alexander saw how she was treating him like a threat and gave a helpless smile. He tried to sit up on his own.
But his body wouldn't cooperate. He barely got up before collapsing back down.
Madison bit her lip and reached out to help him.
The moment she touched him, the heat radiating off his skin burned her.
She swallowed and warned quietly, "Control yourself while I help you to the bathroom."
Their relationship couldn't cross any lines.
Alexander couldn't answer. His mind was already slipping.
Once she got him into the tub, Madison turned on the cold water and let it pour over his head.
The chill gave Alexander a brief moment of relief, and he let out a soft sigh.
Madison saw his face turning pale from the water and leaned in, worried. "Feeling any better?"
Before she could finish, he yanked her into the tub. The freezing water made her scream.
"Just let me hold you. Just once." Alexander forced the words out.
His body was completely out of control now. His hands locked around her waist, pulling her tight against him.
They were both in thin clothes, bodies pressed together.
Madison could barely breathe from how hard he was holding her. She gasped, "Let... let go. You're squeezing me to death."
Hearing her stumbling words, Alexander regained a bit of control and loosened his grip.
He looked down at her, voice rough. "Madison... can I?"
