Chapter 420: Shocked Theron

Randy had noticed something off about Eric, as if his body was betraying him. But Randy knew better than to ask.

After leaving Eric, he began to think about his own future.

"People who know too much rarely live long. Whether it was Eric or Gerald, once their plans were done, they might decide to erase me. Should I gamble on their mercy, or find a way to survive?" he muttered under his breath, frowning.

He had long believed Jonathan was dead. If the man were still alive, he would have gone straight to him, playing the long game from the inside — a spy buried within another spy's circle.

Augustus was far too old, and William and his wife, cunning as they were, were not the kind of people he would ever stake his life on.

Throwing in with them would be as good as signing his own death warrant.

"Damn it... there has to be a way to stay alive and still get a piece of the family fortune."

He raked his fingers through his hair in frustration. A dark thought crossed his mind — wiping out the entire Berkeley Family in one strike. Then, as the last blood heir, he could inherit everything.

But reality crushed the fantasy. Not everyone would attend Harold's funeral, and if all the key figures conveniently died with only him left, the police would be on him in a heartbeat. He had no illusions about escaping that kind of investigation.

He was about to head into a café for a coffee when two familiar figures caught his eye through the glass.

"Kathie? And Jett? What the hell are they doing together? Wait... is he drinking from her cup? Oh, you've got to be kidding me."

Kathie had barely finalized her divorce, and Jett had only recently appeared. The speed of whatever this was made no sense. But when a third figure walked in, Randy's frown deepened.

"Theron? What is he doing here?"

Theron pushed through the café door, scanning the room until his eyes landed on Kathie and the man he didn't recognize — Jonathan in disguise. He made his way over.

"Kathie, what is this about? I don't have much time."

He looked exhausted but sat down anyway. His gaze slid past Jonathan without a second thought.

Kathie glanced around the café. "You made sure your assistant isn't following you?"

Theron nodded. "I kept Eirlys busy, just like you told me. I have ten minutes. What is so important?"

He was wound tight. Atlas was dead, Patricia had been arrested, and now the entire Stewart Family was his responsibility. On top of that, his mother had gone missing. He felt like his life had been swallowed by chaos. He was a doctor — how had he ended up in a storm like this?

Kathie's next words nearly made him jolt out of his seat.

"Your mother is with me."

Theron's eyes widened. Years of self-control kept his face composed, but his voice was sharp. "How is my mother with you?"

Kathie rolled her eyes at his suspicion. "Do you think I kidnapped her? You should be thanking me. I saved her."

She pulled a folded piece of paper from her pocket and slid it across the table. "This is a letter from her. You only have ten minutes, so read fast. And try not to let your jaw hit the floor."

Theron unfolded the letter. The handwriting was unmistakably his mother's. But the contents made his pulse stutter.

Kathie and Jonathan exchanged a glance, watching his mouth slowly fall open, his hands starting to tremble.

Yesterday, Kathie had joined Barnabas in rescuing Luna from danger. After learning of Daniel's death, Luna had broken down and revealed something — something she begged them to tell Theron.

Daniel had killed Atlas, then impersonated him. And Henry... Henry was Theron's half-brother.

Theron's voice was barely a whisper. "No wonder... no wonder after becoming head of the family, he never stepped into an operating room again. He said he was too busy, but it was because he couldn't operate at all."

The letter had shattered something inside him. His father — the man he thought was long gone — had been alive all along, watching from the shadows.

Jonathan gave Kathie a subtle nod, urging her to continue.

Kathie leaned forward. "I know this is a lot, but you need to keep your head clear. What comes next is even more important."

Theron looked up, his expression tight.

"Your father just died, and your mother was nearly killed. The one behind it could very well be Eric. My cousin said that when he left the villa, only Eric, Daniel, and Eirlys were inside. Daniel is dead, Eirlys is alive, and with her skills, there is no way Eric could have overpowered her unless they were working together."

"Eirlys works for Jonathan... but why? Why would he kill my fa—" Theron stopped, the word catching in his throat. "Why would he kill Daniel?"

"That is tied to my own family's affairs," Kathie said. "All you need to know is that Jonathan and Eirlys are your enemies now. Be careful."

She tapped her watch. Time was up.

Theron hesitated, but he knew she was right. Without another word, he left the café.

As soon as the door closed behind him, Kathie's face hardened. "Now it all makes sense. Why my mother had to die. It wasn't just Walter. Daniel wanted to wipe out everyone who knew the truth."
