Chapter 95: The Plan

Evie’s POV

My dad had outlined the plan for us. He already had 4 warriors, two in each SUV. They were going to be waiting outside Gracie’s house, keeping an eye out all the way around her home. Dad had even mindlinked Garrison at lunch to get two more teams together tonight. He did that when I told them that Gracie had changed her plans to come with us to the bridal shop. Dad had insisted that we needed to move fast on this, and I agree with him. Victoria is not going to wait to grab her, especially after we just cut her off. She is going to move forward quickly, to try to keep me from even attempting to stop her.

Even if it was just to allay my fears for the night. I really felt better that the warriors were going to be watching over her at night. I would never be able to forgive myself if something happened to her after knowing that Victoria was replacing my original spot, with Gracie. Both my father and Charles had come up with a game plan on our way back to Dark Marsh. It felt good knowing that they were not going to allow Gracie to be hurt. I was glad that they were going to do this not just for me, but because they liked her too.

They were going to discuss the plan with Jake and Beau after we got back home. They wanted their input on this as well, and I know that Beau has been looking for a way to stop them since they found that body that they left behind when they did it last time. I didn’t care what they did as long as Gracie was OK and they stopped Victoria from ever trying to do this again. I hate to think that she will be killed, but she has had no qualms about killing anyone else. I need to remember that when she gets dealt with. Every person out there when they tried to sacrifice me that night, was fine with me dying. Whatever reason they had for taking me, it was much more important to them, than my own life was.

Both my dad and Charles were both thinking that Victoria would be moving quickly on this. Dad could tell that Victoria had just said what she had to try to upset me in the moment. He could see from her expression after the fact that she had not intended to tell us like that. The best laid plans were always kept close to the vest. Her spilling it like she did, let us know what she was planning to do. She cannot afford to make another mistake. She had already lost me, she cannot take the risk of losing Gracie. They were going to be prepared to start the moment Gracie arrives on that land. So they will most likely send the men in to get her, after everyone has gone to bed. I pray this goes smoothly.

After all they were ready to use weapons on us, and hurt others just to get me back. I know that someone could be killed trying to stop them from taking her. They are taking this seriously this time around. I know that they will not allow anyone else to try to stop them. I worry that her parents, or her brother, could be killed in a home invasion. I have been praying about it all the way back. I almost wished that I could trade places with her, just to keep her safe. I wish we could warn her parents, but how are we going to explain it to her, and her family about what is about to happen. They would think that we are crazy.

I can see that conversation going over really well. ‘Mr. and Mrs. Holmes when a group of unknown men break into your home to take Gracie. Just let them. I will get her back to you soon.’ Yeah, why wouldn’t they be on board with that? I would be ashamed to even tell them how I knew what was going to happen. Or that it had happened to me, and I didn't warn them who was behind it. Gracie was getting that intership just for them to be able to get that dirty hands on her. Especially when she comes up missing after this. The finger would just point straight back to me. We didn’t need that happening.

All I could do was to pray that it all went down smoothly. That she was taken to the land. I wanted our group to rescue her while she was still blindfolded. Before she saw Victoria standing over her with a knife, wanting to kill her. I know from experience, that image will give you some horrible nightmares. I remember how helpless I felt. How they were treating me like I was not valuable. All because I wouldn’t have a family that was going to come and look for me, or cause a blow up with the police. It hurt to know that in their eyes, I was not worthy enough for the police to give it their all to find me. Victoria knew that after a few weeks, I would be considered a run-away and that would be that. I would be gone forever, and no one would know different.

The only reason that they knew that wasn’t the case, was because Helen was a light sleeper. She woke up and tried to stop them. Her being hurt showed that I didn’t leave by my own power. But if they had been successful in their attempt that night. If I hadn’t been rescued by my mate, that night would have ended very differently for me. I shuddered to think about it. I wish we could stop them before they even had the chance to take her. I wish we could just show up in their van, and deal with them then. But I remember Victoria speaking to them to make sure everything was OK. They had a code, and she needed to hear their voices.

We have no choice but to let them take her. We can follow them, and I had been told by my wolf Torren, that she woke me up. That the chloroform would work longer on Gracie. That was the goal that we have in mind. We were hoping that she would sleep through what we needed to do to Victoria's group. She doesn’t need to see anything having to do with how they get dealt with. I was going to slip in after they had it all contained and get her out.

My only request that I made was for the men who came in to rescued her, to be in their human form to do it. I don’t want her having a heart attack like I almost did, seeing Jake in his wolf form. I thought I was about to be killed and be ripped apart by him after I first saw him. I didn’t know that he was a werewolf. I just knew that he was just the biggest wolf that I have ever seen in my life. I couldn’t believe my luck that night, to survive being used as a human sacrifice, only to die as dinner for a wild beast.

They ended up going into the office to have a meeting. I was not included in it. I didn't mind, as I didn't think that I was thinking clearly anyway. I was so hung up on worrying about her being chosen because she was my best friend. It was making me sick with guilt. I wanted to just pick her up and bring her here, and I have mentioned that. But it had been pointed out that it wouldn't stop Victoria in the long run. They were right in shooting me down with my idea. She had to be stopped before who knows how many innocent people would be hurt by her.

I knew that it was going to cause Victoria a problem because I was still around. She knew that I was going to head straight to the police if she took Gracie. I bet she is thinking that I will disappear again for another month, but she is wrong. I am going to be in this with them, and Victoria is going to get a really nasty surprise tonight. She is all about letting people go and meet their ancestors, so she shouldn’t mind us doing to same thing to her. I will remind her of that if I get the chance. She hides how vicious she is under the guise of doing this for the others in the temple.

I know that she is not wanting to help anyone but herself. She may be letting them request whatever it is that they want to get from their Gods in the ceremony, but I am not fooled. She is so caught up in how her family appears to others. How they come across as a rich family, that helps others in need. She just wants to keep the money that her family has, and increase it as best she can. She is wanting to save her lifestyle, and in return, she is willing to kill an innocent person. It doesn’t seem like she is the salt of the earth with that mentality.

She cares about herself, and her family, that is all. She is never going to stop doing this. If killing Gracie didn’t work, she would just be finding another person to use as a sacrifice. She is going to do this over and over again. Why else would she purchase a property out here in the bayou? Otherwise she would just do a one and done, and not need a property. I bet she has her family eating out of her hand. Believing the nonsense she is spewing. I hope that Rhett got the message that I was sending him about gracie earlier today. His mother was about to get my best friend killed. I hope he knows just who she is now. I am not going to allow her a pass on wanting to kill Gracie.

I went to take a nap with Jake after dinner, but I couldn’t sleep. He managed to get my mind off all this very quickly. We were both able to get a few hours of sleep after that. I was awakened by a text from my father. Victoria had put her plan in motion and they had just left Gracie's home. I can only pray that her parents, and brother, were still safe as I got dressed again to be ready to go when they got here.

The warriors were to call dad, once Victoria's henchmen took Gracie. That way we could start getting ready. They were then going to follow them back to the land Victoria owned. We had to make sure that she hasn’t changed up the plan, and gone to a new location. We were prepared to go either way. We had two SUV’s loaded down, with the second SUV carrying Lee, and his team ready to go at a moment's notice.

I was not going to allow for any mistakes in this. Losing Gracie, in any way, was never an option for me. She was my best friend for the last 8 years of my life. Gracie is important to me. I refuse to allow a vicious woman who doesn’t appreciate the value of life, take her away from me.
