CHAPTER 4: My Secretary

I forced myself to wake up early because I have work. Until now, I still couldn't believe what was happening, even though I was tired from working all night. But I didn't feel any exhaustion.

I also couldn't believe that I've got to see Prince and talk to him. I wanted to introduce myself as Beauty Quevaz, his texting buddy, but I was still afraid of the outcome. I didn't want to see his reaction once he found out the truth. I was afraid he would be disgusted with me, just like Aunty Linda.

I still didn't know him well enough, even though I knew deep down that he was kind. But I couldn't shake off the feeling that he might find me repulsive or judge me because even my own blood could hurt, disdain, and judge me, so what more if he does? A CEO with his own company, who was not only wealthy but he also had a handsome face like an Adonis. Meanwhile, I had nothing to be proud of. Yes, I am ugly. No one likes me and I have nothing to boast about.

When I arrived at the company's office, I was immediately called by Prince to his private office. I bowed to show my respect because I knew he had Korean heritage.

"G-Good morning, Sir . . . what can I help you with?" I asked him with my head still bowed.

"Take a seat, join me for breakfast," he said calmly.

I looked up at him and saw Prince looking into my eyes. I noticed the food laid out on his table. I furrowed my brow and felt a slight tremor in my muscles. I think I went deaf for a moment.

"Pardon?"

"Join me," he said, looking deeply into my eyes.

"B-But why?" I asked, taken aback.

"Maybe you haven't eaten yet."

"I-I've already eaten, thank you."

As much as I wanted to join him for the meal, I was afraid that I wouldn't be able to digest anything. Besides, it would be difficult for me to eat because of his gaze.

I saw his Adam's apple bob as he swallowed due to my refusal to share the meal with him. I gulped in response, feeling nervous. I didn't know what to do next, whether to leave or stay inside his office while he stared at me.

"S-Sir . . . I should go, I still have work," I said, bowing again. I was about to turn around when I heard his hurried footsteps.

Suddenly, I felt his hand on my arm as he pulled me back, urging me to sit in the visitor's chair facing his desk.

"Let's eat," he said firmly.

I didn't say anything, even though my heart nearly stopped from the sudden of it all. My hand trembled as I picked up the disposable spoon and fork.

"Calm down," he said calmly.

I looked at him, and I saw him looking at my trembling hand before meeting my eyes with intensity.

He placed rice and pork on my paper plate, and I couldn't help but let him. I couldn't stop him.

"I'll do it," he insisted.

While we ate, I could feel his gaze on me. Every time I looked up, our eyes met. I didn't know why the food I was swallowing felt like it was stuck in my throat.

I suddenly choked, coughing uncontrollably. He seemed startled and quickly handed me some water, standing up to pat my back.

"Are you okay?" he asked, panicking.

I nodded and cleared my throat after taking a sip of water. He settled back into his swivel chair, and we continued eating in silence in his office. I could still feel his gaze, even though we were just sitting quietly. After we finished eating, we started working again, but I couldn't help but think about what happened earlier while we were having our meal.

I didn't know why he kept looking at me, but I was sure he had no idea that I was Beauty Quevaz, his text mate.

I went inside his office to have him sign some company documents. He had taught me everything yesterday, so I was exhausted from wondering if I could get everything right, once I started working or if it would be easy for me to be Prince's secretary.

But today, I didn't have much to do other than getting the papers signed by Prince. I also made a list of his daily meetings, so it wasn't hard for me to update him.

After finishing my work and getting ready to leave, Prince called me into his office again, so I quickly went in.

"Are you leaving?" he asked.

"Yes, Sir. I've finished my work. Why?" I politely replied.

"I'm thankful that you arrived early today."

"Well, it's normal to come early--"

"I mean, you should come even earlier, tomorrow."

"H-huh? Why?"

"Because you are my Secretary and you will go with me," he said proudly.

"And where do we go tomorrow, sir?"

"To . . . " he cleared his throat. "Um . . . you know that I have a meeting tomorrow, right? You should accompany your boss to the meeting. Isn't it?"

"But your meeting is at 8:30 AM tomorrow. So, why should we go earlier?"

"We'll have somewhere to go before we head to my meeting in Laguna."

"You have a meeting before Laguna, sir?" I said it in shock.

"Stop asking me, Beauty. Just come with me tomorrow," he said a bit irritably.

"Sorry, sir. Okay, um . . . may I leave now, sir?" I asked.

I was about to turn around when he called me again.

"Ms. Beauty!"

I turned back to face him.

"Yes, sir? Do you need anything else?"

He shook his head before getting up and he walk towards me. My muscles got tensed, and I could feel my heart racing with each step he took towards me. When I looked at him, his body was so perfectly shaped, and he looked even more handsome in his suit attire. While, I have no hint of attractiveness.

"I'll give you a ride," he said as he approached me.

"No, sir, it's not necessary. It's embarrassing for you, and I'm just your secretary. I don't have the right to ask for a ride or to be picked up," I nervously declined.

"I insist."

"No, Sir Prince. It's fine for me to take a taxi. It's really okay," I said.

But he didn't listen; instead, he pulled me out of his office. Some employees were staring at us, and others whispered among themselves as they packed their things.

I didn't know what they were whispering about, but from the way they looked at me, it seemed like they were judging me.

We reached the parking lot, and he guided me to the passenger seat, fastening my seatbelt. He then moved to the driver's seat and drove off.

I don't know why, but my heart was racing again. I couldn't speak, and I could hear the both of us breathing inside the car. He also didn't ask where I lived, and I was surprised when we were already in front of my house. It seemed he remembered my address from my resume.

I quickly removed the seatbelt because I was afraid that Aunty Linda was seeing me in someone's car to take me home and that someone who was carrying me was the CEO of Dhuean's company. It was Prince. I was about to exit the car when he suddenly stopped me.

"Wait," he said, stopping me.

"Sir?"

He seemed like he wanted to say something, but then he shook his head. "Good night, my . . . secretary," he smiled at me politely, so I returned the same politeness.

"Good night, sir."
