Chapter 19

I sat in the kitchen as I ate ice cream wondering if Sean was purposely avoiding me. I had not seen him all day, but Jason said he was around the house, and for some reason, I could not find him, most likely because he did not want me to find him.

"Hey, Izzy. Did you do something to your mate?" I looked up at Eric and shook my head. "Are you sure? Because he's really out of it, and when I tried to speak to him, all he said was he thought you were beginning to like him, and then he spaced out and began ignoring me again when I tried to ask what he meant," he said.

I tilted my head. I didn't want to admit it but – "I was. I am. But now I think he's avoiding me and I don't know why. I don't know what I did to him." I said. We had not even gotten into any fights, not even small ones.

"Whatever you did, it must be pretty bad because Sean usually talks. And when he doesn't, he’s really upset." Jason said walking in and grabbing my tub of ice-cream. I hissed at him and he laughed keeping the tub out of my reach, “See what happens when you steal my chips?” I pouted, "Since when do werewolves hiss?" He laughed.

"Shut up and give my ice cream." I snapped at him.

"No." He smirked eating a spoon of it. I was about to attack him when someone walked in that made all three of us go silent.

"Uh... We'll be upstairs." Eric said.

"What? But we –” Jason was cut off by Eric punching his arm lightly before dragging him out of the kitchen.

I played with my fingers nervously as I wondered what to say because, by the look of it, he had no intention of speaking to me as he opened the fridge and went rampaging through it.

"Are… you avoiding me?" I spoke finally. He ignored me to drink out of the water bottle he had just pulled out of the fridge before he turned to stare at me.

"Do you like Trent?" The question made me choke on air.

"What?" I coughed.

"I mean, I'm your mate. He's just some wolf you met literally a few days ago... You barely know him." He went on.

"What?" I croaked, still trying to breathe properly.

"Don't pretend you don't. I saw you last night, sleeping with him –” He was saying.

"Oh, Sean, don't exaggerate. She was using his lap as a headrest and anyway, they look like a pretty cute couple if you ask me." Hayley said.

"No one asked you." Sean spat venomously. It actually made Hayley step back where she had just entered the kitchen.

"Excuse me, but what the hell are you two on about?" I asked.

"They're both being stupid. You and Trent fell asleep in the gaming room. He's just being jealous and over-thinking it like any mated wolf would." Tyler said.

"Where are you all coming from?" I asked.

"The house isn't sound-proof, Izzy." Kaden was seated next to me, appearing with no prior warning. I rolled my eyes. I still wasn't completely used to Amarelo speed.

"Sean," Sean frowned looking towards the kitchen entrance, Trent chuckled, "I have no intention of getting with your mate and taking her from you, alright? She's my friend. That's all she is. That's all I am to her. So we cool?" Trent smiled as he held out his hand for Sean to shake.

"Yeah, calm your testosterone," Alexis said. Sean looked down sheepishly and chuckled.

"Uh... I'm sorry. Just kinda..." He mumbled as he shook Trent's hand.

"Saw them," Tyler said, he sounded like he knew what Sean was talking about. Sean nodded.

"And this, my friends, is all the more reason to stay out of my mate's way for as long as I possibly can," Corey said. We laughed.

I looked at Trent, and he smiled winking at me before walking out. Our friends followed without having to be told, leaving Sean and me alone. I blushed remembering what he had said about Sean yesterday.

"So... Um... That drive to school tomorrow... Can I still say yes to it?" I asked.

"No." He said. I was a little shocked by his answer. He didn't want to drive me? "You didn't have a choice to begin with." He smirked. I laughed.

"You think so?" I asked.

"I know so... You doing anything today?" He asked glancing down at his watch before looking back at me. I shook my head, no. "Then be ready in an hour and fifteen minutes." He said walking out.

"Wait, where – Sean?!" I called. I heard laughing but it was distant. That idiot.

-----

"What are you going to wear?" Alexis asked.

"I'm already dressed, changing clothes would be stupid," I said not looking up from the book I currently had my nose stuck in. I didn’t need to change. Sean had not said where exactly we were going and I did not exactly have to impress him by dressing fancily. When she didn't respond I was forced to rip my eyes from the pages and I gasped. "What are you doing?!" I hissed seeing Alexis and Hayley rampaging through my wardrobe.

"I like this, it's cute." Alexis held a dress I never even knew I had up for Hayley to see. Was it something they had made me buy at the mall?

"Nah, what if he takes her to a theme park or something?" Hayley asked.

"Mmm... Yeah." Alexis tossed the dress on the pile of clothing that already messed up my once perfectly tidy room.

"Stop! I'm not changing!" I said.

"Ooo, how about this?" They completely ignored me.

"Oh, I like that. With this?" Hayley said.

"Yeah, it would look so cute," Alexis said.

"I don't want to look cute. Stop messing up my room!" I almost yelled.

"This jacket, and those shoes," Alexis said. Was I dead? Could they really not hear me?

"Curly hair, rose pink eye shadow?" Hayley asked.

"I think curly would look great, how about –” I groaned falling back onto my bed. I was never going to hang out with the two of them at the same time again! On the plus side, I guess Hayley finally found someone to help her match outfits and things, since Corey and I were always completely uninterested when it came to that.

"Iz, come try it on," Alexis said. I rolled over onto my stomach and buried my face in my pillow.

"Izabella! Get up or I'm calling Corey to make you." I sat up immediately and glared at Hayley as she smirked.

Once when we had a sleepover, Corey, being stronger than I was, had something wrong in his brain that made him think it was okay to drag me out of bed and throw me into a bath full of freaking ice-cold water. It even had ice cubes in it! I was never going to forgive him for that, I was so traumatized it still made me shiver thinking about it.

"I'm not wearing that," I said before I even saw what they had picked out.

"COR –!”

"Fine!" I cut Hayley off grabbing the clothing from her and Alexis as they laughed before I stomped off to the bathroom. Why did I have to get stuck with friends like these?

I quickly changed into the clothing muttering a few not-so-nice words under my breath because I knew they could hear me. I didn't bother looking into the mirror as I went back to the room. I knew I was in high-shorts and a chiffon button-up shirt over a vest.

"Ooo! You look great!" Hayley said.

"Great. Go away." I mumbled reaching for my book.

"No, hair –” Alexis pulled me back and pushed me into the seat beside my dresser.

"I'll do her make up!" I didn't bother arguing and soon I felt like I was getting punched in the face. Okay, maybe I was exaggerating. I could barely feel either of them working on me, but I could hear them…

"Tah-dah!" Hayley said. I opened my eyes and my frown fell.

I didn't look bad. I actually looked good. My hair was curly, my eyes didn't have too much makeup on, just some mascara and glittery traces of pink eye shadow. It went well with the simple outfit I was wearing.

“Thank you.” I looked and at them and they grinned before I slid on a pair of boots

"Izabella, do I always have to force you –” my head spun to see Sean at the door, he stared back at me shocked, his mouth slightly agape as his eyes ran over me and I felt my face heat.

"She looks good, doesn’t she?" Alexis smiled looking proud of herself, as did Hayley.

"Uh... She looks... Uh... You look... um… Nice." He said. I turned to look into the mirror again. Nice? I laughed seeing Alexis and Hayley glaring at Sean behind me before I turned back to face all of them.

“We should go.” I grabbed my phone, "You two might wanna put that back." I said looking at my entire wardrobe that now lay in the center of my room. They looked at it and groaned. I smirked. Serves them right.

"Come on," Sean chuckled.

-----

"When is this going to end?" I groaned. Sean laughed. "Why did you bring me on here?" I glared at him.

"Wait about five more seconds. This would have been incredibly romantic if you would have shut your mouth and stared at the sky with me." He said. I rolled my eyes. We were on a ride that was going up, very slowly. 3... 2... 1... I looked up as we reached the top and we could see half the city.

"Hold on!" Sean yelled as the ride tipped over the top and we literally went plummeting to the ground. We both screamed enjoying the adrenaline rush of feeling like we were falling. The wind would have knocked me out of the seat if I wasn't strapped in securely.

The ride did an almost 90-degree angle turn at the bottom making me feel like we had almost smashed into the ground before it slowed and came to a halt. I jumped out of the seat as soon as it unlocked and hopped up and down; the fact that my once perfectly curly hair was now a mess didn't even phase me.

"Let's go again!" I yelled. Sean laughed getting up. I stepped back when he reached for me.

“Stay still.” He frowned, I glared up at him but felt him pat my hair to fix it as well as he probably could. I actually liked feeling him touch my hair. I watched him and felt my heart flutter seeing his eyes as he focused on my hair… he looked… really happy. It made me feel quite warm. He smiled at me once he finished, "In a while, Izzy. Come on, I'm hungry." He said grabbing my hand. I paused for a moment glancing down at our hands, the sparks were more now. Why? Because I didn't hate him anymore?

"No, if you eat we can't go on any more rides until you can't puke it out," I said frowning. He laughed.

"Yeah? So you're telling me you don't want free food, paid for by me?" He asked. I opened my mouth but stopped. Well... "Dessert included." He sang lightly. Damn. How could I say no to that?

"Fine, let's eat," I said.

-----

After we ate we went to see a movie because anything else would have ruined our lunch.

We decided on some action movie because Sean basically begged even though I wanted to watch something funnier, but once we were in the theatre I could not keep my eyes off the screen. I had practically forgotten Sean was there with me.

"Izzy –” he began.

"Shh." I interrupted. He chuckled.

"Izabella, we need to get home." He said, sounding weird. I looked at him.

"Why? Did my dad call you?” I asked softly. He shook his head, “Can't we just watch it finished first?" I asked. He frowned, "Please?" I whined which made him chuckle.

"Fine. But we go straight afterward." He sounded worried.

“What’s wrong?” I asked.

“Nothing, just tired.” I furrowed my brows at him but he shifted his eyes back to the screen. I had only been watching for a few more minutes something warm brushing against my neck made me cry out lightly. I gasped when Sean placed a light kiss on my neck.

"Sean, wh –” I began lifting my hands to his shoulders.

"It's alright, Izabella. I'm just going to –” I shoved him feeling his teeth brush my neck. He slammed back in his seat and I saw his eyes flash black before he looked at me shocked. "Izzy –” He began.

"You tried to bite me!" I hissed rubbing my neck, "I told you I don't want you marking me yet, and you still tried to mark me!" I hissed.

"I-I tried to mark you?" He looked confused like he had no idea about what I was talking about before fear flooded his face but he covered it up quickly, "I-I mean, I-I'm sorry. Got caught in the moment." He said casually shrugging as he gave me a smirk that seemed fake.

"What moment?" I asked, "Sean, what's wrong with you?" I added suddenly feeling like something was wrong with him. He was acting so weird.

"Nothing - nothing's wrong with me. I'm great, I-I'm going to go home, I’ll call a taxi. You can take my car," his keys fell onto my lap as he disappeared. What just happened? What was that? And why did he give me his keys? He knew I was a terrible driver!
