Chapter 271: Epilogue (Fredrick and Muna)
Fredrick's POV
"All clear. Check again in thirty minutes to confirm." I said to Lorenzo Hale, one of my clients at Dominion National Bank.
He'd suspected that someone was trying to break into the bank system and steal their money, and he'd been right. They were some movement. Subtle, but still suspicious. Someone's testing doors, and from the look of things, they would have stolen a huge sum if I haven't intervened.
In the past few years, I had leaned into my computer skills and commercialized it, focusing more on cyber security. Muna was a big factor in this decision in many ways. She knew how good I was and she thought that I would do great if I go into it more. She was also a freaking hard worker, earning lots of money that I never let her spend in our home. She was mine to care for. In every way.
I took her suggestion, and I turned it into a career. Now everyone knew about me. I had my team, but some particularly stubborn people like Lorenzo Hale would rather bother me.
I let out a sigh of satisfaction when I felt smooth hands on my shoulders. My eyes snapped shut as I felt her press into my pressure points. I closed my palms over hers by instinct, but I didn't stop her.
"Feels good?" She asked, leaning in to kiss my cheek.
How on earth would that not feel good?
"Mmm."
I tipped my head back over the chair, and Muna took the opportunity to steal a kiss. My hand tightened on her wrist, and I pulled her to sit on my laps.
"Why do you get so beautiful each day?" I asked, brushing my knuckles over her cheek. And I truly meant that question. Even in just cornrows or whatever she called those swirly braids, she looked more beautiful than she was yesterday. And even more than the day before. I didn't understand how that was possible, but my mate made it work.
"Spectacular genes, I guess," she chuckled, her cheeks revealing those cute dimples that I could never get enough of. "Not from my father though."
We both laughed.
I had seen her father few times since our last encounter where I made sure he would never bother Muna again. He'd always freeze in place and stare at me like I was something out of his nightmare. And I preferred it that way. As long as it would keep him from bothering my mate.
There was a time Muna wanted closure with him. Unlike her sister, she just couldn't forget him even though he was a horrible father to her. She'd gone to see him, but he wasn't very receptive of her. He didn't try to extort money from her like before, but he didn't want her as his daughter anymore.
That wasn't the outcome Muna hoped for, but at least, she got the closure she sought. She was sad about it for a few days, but she got over it. Now she hardly mentions him unless she wants to throw shades at him. Like right now.
"Of course, sweetheart. Such an angelic face cannot come from him."
She giggled, straddling me and cradling my face in both hands. She then leaned in, and I readily opened my mouth for her as she captured my lips.
One hand went to the back of her head, and I placed the other on her back, standing up.
I didn't break the kiss as I led her to bed. Her legs wrapped around my waist, slowly grinding on me.
I pressed her to the bed and deepened the kiss, dominating her mouth until she could only sigh and moan into mine.
"Daddy!" Enzo's voice made me jump off her, falling beside her with a groan of frustration. I turned to her and let out another groan when I saw those sparkling brown eyes and plump lips.
I loved our son so fucking much. He was one of my favourite part of life. But at this moment, I considered giving him up for adoption.
"Daddy, I broke Superman!" He said as he finally entered the room, waving his toy Clark Kent to us, eyes shining innocently. "Can you fix it for me?"
Muna slapped my hand and glared at me. And just like that, the sexual tension had disappeared, and I was on one knee before my boy, helping him fix his toy.
"See? Good as new."
He lifted his chin to me, facial muscles tensed in disapproval. "You didn't fix it properly. It still looks broken at the side. See?" He turned the side to me, and I saw the part he was talking about.
I took it from him and quickly tightened the loosened knot. He then brought the toy close to his eyes, turning it around just to make sure it was perfect.
"You know, it will be nice if you say thank you to Daddy for helping out, instead of trying to find faults." Muna said behind me. I turned to see her in that classic 'mom stance'— weight leaning on a hip, hand supporting her hip, and brows furrowed in disapproval.
It was amusing as much as it was charming.
Muna was the best thing that happened to me. Just waking up every morning and seeing her beside me was enough to brighten up my day. Seeing her happy made everything else feel... complete.
"Thank you, Daddy."
I ruffled Enzo's hair as he finally nodded in approval, clutching Superman to his chest before running off, probably to test whether the toy could survive another crash.
I rose to my feet and turned to Muna. She was smiling at me now — soft, fond, full of that warmth that had changed my life in ways I never saw coming.
"You're a good dad," she said quietly.
I scoffed. "I'm trying."
She stepped closer, resting her forehead against my chest. "You're doing more than trying. Can't believe that I was once afraid that you'll be abandon me when I found out I was pregnant."
I brushed my hands along her arm. "I pretend not to be offended by that."
She let out a small giggle. "You won't blame me. We've only been together for a few months. You were still very young. Just twenty two. How many twenty two year old boys want to be fathers?"
My hands halted their movements. "Fair point. But that's not me. Not when it comes to you. I can never leave you. Whether I was ready or not."
A smile touched her lips. "I know."
I wrapped my arms around her, breathing her in, feeling the steady rhythm of our life all around us — the hum of work done right, the laughter of our child, the peace of a home built on love and choice.
"I love you, Fredrick."
"I leave you no choice."
She slapped my arm playfully. "Say it back before I dig a knife into your chest and twist."
"Damn!" I flinched. "That's graphic. I blame those books you're writing."
She chuckled. "Vampires are usually that way. Blame them."
Our laughter soon dissolved into shared look and sparks. Our faces moved on their own, and before we knew it, our lips were locked together. Nothing fiery. Just a sweet, simple kiss that conveyed all the peace and contentment I was feeling right now.
Once, I'd been surrounded by people but I always felt so alone. Until she came along, and my whole world shifted.
A human and a werewolf. Our paths were never meant to cross. Our worlds were never meant to meet. But here we were.
Two imperfect people, making it work.
It should have been difficult. But Muna made everything in my life easy. And it was even easier to love her. For the rest of my life.
I pulled away from the kiss, but still continuing leaning my forehead on hers. "I love you too."
