Chapter 31

**Susan's P.O.V**

God, did my body hurt.

It felt like I have been brutality hit by train followed by a battleship. My body felt heavy like tons of bowling balls pulling me down deeper into the earth. Every bone in my body ached. I moaned in pain as I tried shifting my body to be more comfortable. Silk surrounded my body and I moaned at the comfort. It was bliss, but soon it was short lived.

I opened my eyes, it was blurry for brief moment until my eyes came to focus. I took in my surroundings slowly. It was a beautiful room and it echoes a warm fuzzy feeling. I looked around until my eyes catches a movement by the door. Nick stood at the door with his arms folded a crossed his chest leaning against the door.

"Hey..." Nick said as he slowly walking into the middle of room as my eyes follow his movements.

"Hi...." I said as my voice cracks and I winced. My right hand moved up to my dehydrated throat.

"Oh...hold on a second."

He went to a small hidden refrigerator behind the door. He pulled out a plastic cup and poured water into it. He walked back to the side of the bed and sat on the edge.

"Sit up slow so you won't feel dizzy." Nick said as I sat up and waited for the blood to flow in my body. He held the cup to my lips and helped drink the cool water. I moaned as the water woke my senses and took away the dryness.

"Ahh...so much better." I said smiling to him as he grinned and shook his head.

"I would ask how you are, but I am not sure if it's the approach I want to go for...." Nick said blabbering. His hands are fisted in his lap and he bit his lip every now and then. He appeared so nervous. I really looked at him confused. He must have caught my attention and he stopped talking.

"What's wrong? Are you in pain? Hungry?" Nick kept asking asking questions until I started to laugh. Only to be stopped by my aching sides.

"Agr, just a little sore. What's with the twenty questions?"

"Just precautions." Nick said as sighs and rubbed hands on his face. Stressed, more like it.

"Oh.."

"Yeah, my pack doctor Mason has his cousin come to do regular check ups on you. He left earlier to find out who the rouges are." Nick said looking his window for a brief second before looking back at me.

"Oh, okay." I said nodding at him. But, before he could say anything, my stomach protested it's hunger.

I blushed and bit my lip. Nick chuckled and I caught his eyes for a second. The iris in his eyes widen and darken before he turn away. He stood and offer a hand out. I pushed the covers back and took his hand. My legs wobbled and my hold tighten on him.

He helped me walk down the stairs and led me to the kitchen. I sat down on a spinning chair because my jelly legs couldn't take my weight.

Nick began making an omelette and toast for what he quotes "weak stomach". He also gave me orange juice to take the bitter taste in my mouth. Just when he was about to sit, there was a knock on the door.

Nick sighed, "Stay and eat." I rolled my eyes and think to myself, As if I can walk right now.

I eat silently and waited till Nick came back.

"So, where is my patient?" The voice said.

Wait a second, that voice sounds familiar.

I turned around and my eyes widen in excitement.

"Aunty Kelly....!" I was shocked.

"Susan Darling, what are you doing here?" Aunty Kelly asked shocked as she came to hug me. I winced as she mumbled a sorry and kissed my forehead.

"You two know each other?" Nick asked both of us confused.

I nodded and Aunt Kelly explained, "Susan is my goddaughter. Her mother and I are best friends since forever. How in the world did she end up with you?" She gave him her "You better have a good reason face."

"Susan and Milly was attacked at the bakery..." Nick went on explaining and Aunty Kelly did the check ups as he spoke.

"When is Mason getting back?" Aunt Kelly asked as she packed her bag.

"He didn't say when."

"I am going to call your father, Susan Darling. And I hope you do the same?" Aunty Kelly said as she took out her phone and walked into the other room.

Nick sighed and took the dishes to the dishwasher.

"I should go freshen up before my dad gets here." I said walking to back to the room.

He hesitated and moved to follow me.

I shook my head, "I should go alone...to clear my head."

"Okay, only 5 minutes." Nick said sternly and turned walking away.

Great. I said in my head sighing.

Reaching my destination, I finally looked at my appearance. Jeez, I look like the walking dead. My face was pale and my hair sticking out all over the places. Fixing my hair and washing the sweat and grimy feeling on my face. I instantly felt refreshed. I fixed my clothes to look more presentable. Only thing, was the pain in my body.

I hear mutters coming from downstairs. I sighed and made my down slowly. My eyes caught my father's eyes. I ran to him forgetting about everything. His arms comforted me in warmth. Tears brimming my eyes and I took in his scent. He hugged me tighter to his broad chest.

"Daddy....I missed you." I sniffed and tears leaked from my eyes.

"Oh Darling, my princess. Don't cry, it's alright. I am here now." Dad said as he patted my back softly.

"Son, what's going on?" I hear another mans voice behind me.

I took a sneak peek and looked from under my fathers chin. The man was as tall as Nick, only by a few inches. His brown eyes was striking and hair dark as night. His jaw was tense and posture was straight. Build like his son, both was replicas of each other.

"Dad, this is my friend Susan, her father, Alpha Evan Collins and Aunty Kelly who's Mason's cousin. This is my father, Alpha Mick O' Connor. Susan was attacked along with Milly at the bakery by some strange creatures...." Nick explained and each men postures became frigid in shock and tensed. My fathers breathing changed and his jaw tighten. He frowned as Nick's father let out a sting of curses. My hold on my father shook in fear. I looked at him and he kissed my forehead.

What I also noticed was, Nick introduced me as a friend. I was his mate, was I not?

"What the hell are we going to do now?" Nick said to his father.

"We could hold a pack meeting, seem both of our packs are in danger." Alpha O'Conner said and my father agreed.

"What about relocation? We move to where my pack is." My father suggested, hoping for agreement.

"That's not a bad idea. With two packs, they would have a disadvantage." O'conner says as he looked at us.

"Dad, seriously? Like pack up and leave?" Nick said in disbelief.

"We have have to. There's no other way."

Nick growled and walked out of the kitchen. Not even looking back. His figure disappearing from my sight. I felt a slight feeling of rejection.

"When do you plan on leaving?" Aunty Kelly asked O'Conner with her arms at her side and eyes that harden.

"We leave today, later in the afternoon. Got to inform the rest of the pack. Follow me."

We all followed him through a series of doors before reaching the destination.

"Is Nick....." I asked silently. My voice quivering.

"He will be alright. He's going to get use to the change sooner or later." O'Conner said with a stern voice.

After that, I remained silent. Too afraid to say something that could ruin our friendship. I wanted to cry, but at what cost?

My father, Aunt Kelly and I helped with the pack. Alpha O'Conner explained that they were in danger and everyone frozen in fear. We promised them comfort and a home feeling when we conjoined our pack.

That night, Nick and I didn't spoke at all.

He didn't glance at me or made any conversations. I felt guilty. My Aunt Kelly offered her hugs but I still felt empty. He drove his car, while I stayed with my aunt and dad. His father drove with his mother. No one made much noise unless it was pit stop for bathroom or food.

When we arrived at our pack territory, some men and women help the other pack in welcoming. My mother was there to give hugs and smiles. I walked away from all that excitement. I just wanted to be alone.

Before leaving for our house, I searched Nick in the crowd. My eyes found his and his eyes darken but not from lust. From anger. He looked away and follows his father to help. I sighed and walked away without looking back.

Rejection. Rejection.

It echoed deep in my mind.
