Chapter 87
**POV
The room was lined with cages. It looked much like you would picture an animal shelter. Only the cages were a bit bigger. A single person in each one. No bed, toilet, sink, nothing but the floor. The room smelled horrible. The scent of death was definitely in the air. Moans of pain came from several of the fifteen cages. Growls came from others. The cages that were quiet you only hoped that there was still life in them.
“Animals, filthy animals.” A man said from just inside the entry way.
“What do you want? You can't seriously think that you will get away with taking so much Alpha blood? Entire packs will come looking for you!” yelled one of the Lycan prisoners at the man.
“That’s what I am counting on.” he replied with enough malice to drip an entire Lycan in. “Doc, any test you want to run, I would start with that one.” The man said to another one standing at the door with him.
The doctor which he addressed was short with oversized glassed and a lab coat that looked two sizes too big. Greasy hair and teeth that looked like they belonged on a ghoul on Halloween.
“Thank you, Sir. Thank you. There is so much to learn from the blood of a Lycan. All the possibilities.” The doctor was like a giddy school girl who was talking to her crush.
“Keep them alive at least for now. Dead Heirs do me no good at the moment. I am going to need them if my plans are to be complete. Study them all you like, but they must not be killed, yet.” The man turned to leave the doctor. As the door creaked shut behind him the fear in the eyes of those in cages had tripled. The trapped heirs knew that it was only a matter of time before they would be killed.
“Guards no one other than myself or that doctor is to come or leave that room. Anyone else, kill them on the sight.”
“Yes, Sir” the guard responded. Following their response, you could hear the scream of pain coming from behind the locked door. Torture had begun.
**Seth
We drove to the hotel to pick up a Jacob as Jasper had asked. This person must be important to him otherwise he would have been left and come back for later.
“We cannot mess this up. Jasper wants this man brought to him alive. No mistakes.” Seth told his pack members who he had brought with him.
“Yes Alpha.” was replied in unison.
A nurse met them outside the door of room 112.
“You must be Moon Branch?” she asked.
“Yes. I am Seth. How is Jacob? Can he walk?”
“Hello Seth. He is awake, but no he cannot yet walk. Please come inside, but only you the space is small and he is on edge.”
I nodded and motioned for my guards to stay outside the door.
“Jacob?” I addressed him. He looked like shit. His baby blue eyes were dull almost lifeless except with fear. I wasn't clear as to what had happened to him, but one thing was for sure, it scared him. “I am Seth, Alpha of the Moon Branch pack. I am here by Jasper. He has sent to get you.”
“Yes, I know. Thank you. Nurse won't let me stand, but I’d like to try.” his voice was rough. Like someone who hadn't spoken in weeks.
“He really shouldn’t, but I know as soon as he is out of my sight he will try. Might as well do it while I am here. See if he manages.” The young nurse rolled her eyes at him. He must have been a real heart breaker before all this.
“I can help you stand; I can handle your weight.” I offered. Jacob nodded and I stepped over to him. He was much smaller than Jasper and the rest, and his scent wasn't pure wolf. It puzzled me that Jasper was saving someone outside his pack with all that was going on. “Good.” I told him as he managed to get his legs to work, keeping him up right. “Let's get you in the car and to The Gentry House. Jasper will be happy to see you doing so well. There is no ramps so sadly I will need to carry you and the IV still attached to you until we get to the car.” Jacob groaned but agreed.
Once we had all his things together and made it to the car the air changed. It filled with the scent of rotting flesh. Our wolves went on high alert.
“We need to get the hell out of here.” My beta said. From the balcony which we just stood the nurse’s body was being held out. Blood dripping from her. A man stood there holding her up by the neck. With an evil grin he let he go and her lifeless body smashed onto the pavement. “Get in the cars now and get the fuck out of here.” I yelled at everyone. I was not going to fail Jasper on this. He had more than enough to deal with. I linked the rest of the pack that was in the city to help be guards and dialed Jasper.
“Seth?” he answered on the first ring.
“We have a problem. Someone is here. The nurse is dead. Jacob is alive and with me already, but I am not sure what this is.”
“Damn it. We are coming!” He said in a frantic tone.
“You can't Sir. This could be a trap. Moon Branch has members in the city. We will have enough to put up a good fight, just be ready for us at the house. We are on the way.” I tried to sound like I knew we would get there but I wasn't sure.
“Just get here, the entire street is covered.”
**Jasper
Seth call had everyone turned upside down. The
Wilder and Jinx went up the Northside of the street the other two went to the South. Samual and Chance overed the back while Jackson and I had the front. No one was getting close enough to the house to hurt anyone. Our link was set in place.
“Fuck we didn't have Seth in the link. What if he isn't Seth?” Jackson asked.
“You would be able to tell right? He knows something is gifted about you but he doesn't know what.” I hoped.
“Maybe, we have to get the fuck out of the city or it is going to take every one of us.” I knew he was right. We needed to be able to breathe. The war was no longer coming but was here and we could not loose anyone else.
With the streets being emptier than usual we could hear the squealing tires and the car chase through the street.
“Jackson, can you find them? See how far they are?”
“They are 5 blocks up but there is a trap. Jacob was being watched.” He spat. Of course he was. “Wait.” Something had change I could hear it in his voice. “Shea is there.” my mind raced. I thought that she was going to help us.
“She is. Seth’s SUV just came around the corner. She, she just took out the entire block of witches. Her element is fire. Seth’s whole team is going to be here in five minutes. Their path is now clear.” The aww of the power she had was undeniable in his voice and on his face. I was unsure of what he had actually just seen but from the sound of it was amazing.
Jackson was right; inside of the five minutes Seth had safely arrived at the house with Jacob.
“Boy are you a sight for these sore eyes my friend.” I was over joyed to see Jacob alive. He looked terrible to be honest but he was alive. One less ally we were going to lose. Now I needed to figure out how to get Marcus. TJ and Quinn were lost but Marcus may still be alive.
“Thank you, Sir.” Jacob said. “I heard we were going on a vacation?”
“We are getting out of the city for now.”
“Sounds like a plan to me.”
