Chapter 82: THE FIRST STEP
LENA
I ignore her. She means nothing to me. All of them don’t. I just want this to be over so I can get the fuck out of here.
“You just want Dalia dead because she took the man you love from you.” She snickers. I know that she’s trying to get a reaction from me but I won’t give it to her.
Maybe the stupid Alpha who’s also hiding in this godforsaken place with me will kiss their ass but I won’t. He’s a greedy fool who betrayed his people because the witches promised him power. They promised to make him the Alpha king.
I wonder who he’s going to rule. Maybe the few weak people the witches won’t wipe out during the war if they have the chance to do so.
“Don’t worry, our plan will still work. Even if Dalia locks the gate of hell, she will still die.” I turn to her with a raised brow. She chuckles sarcastically. “Now you are interested.”
“How is she going to die? She probably has her full powers now making her a divine being.”
“Well, divine beings die too. To lock the gate or open it, a life is needed and that life is Dalia’s. That’s her destiny.”
I narrowed my eyes on her. “How do you know this?”
“There’s a lot in the prophecy book that you will need to dig deep before you know it.”
I don’t know if I should trust her words but she sounds sure of what she’s saying. But I wonder why she’s telling me all these. It’s not like we are friends.
“We found out a day before she stole the prophecy book. It’s funny how that has been there for years and we just found out about it. Guess we saw what we wanted and didn’t bother reading deep.”
“Why are you telling me this?”
“Because I don’t trust you. I know that the way we have our plans, you have yours too and that’s to kill Dalia. Everything else, including our own plan, doesn't concern you.” Her face suddenly turns serious as she moves into my space. “I’m warning you, Lena. Don’t do anything stupid. I know that Martha dots on you but none of us trust you. You haven’t fully proven yourself to us yet. And you need to work hard towards that.”
She’s glaring at me and I’m glaring back. I’m not scared of her. I’m not scared of any of them.
“Well, that’s a shame because I don’t plan on proving myself to you guys.”
She smirked coldly. “You know I somehow like you. You are defiant and I love that.”
I push her out of my space. “Stop acting cocky, Tabitha. We know that you can’t defeat me if we go into a fight. I was the one that made the decision to join you guys and yes I have my own motive. And whatever your plans are, I don’t fucking care.”
I turn and walk away. I know she’s seething behind me, but that’s all she can do. And she knows that.
Apparently there’s still a lot I don’t know. They act as if I’m one of them, but they still hide a lot from me. Well, I don’t want to know their plan because I don’t want to be part of it. They have gone crazy. They are ruining a lot of lives because of revenge and I won’t be part of it.
I wonder if Ezekiel knows that Dalia will die if she locks the gate. Suddenly I’m not excited about Dalia’s death. I don’t want her to die as a hero. I want her to be killed. Either by the witches or by me. Ezekiel will feel more pain if she’s killed rather than her dying while saving his kingdom.
The witches are already making a move. They are attacking the lower packs and it seems they have the upper hand in this war. They have a secret weapon. One I don’t know about. And they seem pretty confident in it.
Whatever happens in this war, I don’t care. As long as Dalia will die and Ezekiel will live in pain.
DALIA
Today, we will go to the realm between life and death. We are not sure if the witches will attack today, but we are prepared in case they do. We have created a lot of defense mechanisms. There are places where the children and old ones will be taken to safety once the war breaks out.
Craig and Aaron will protect the pack while Ezekiel and Nikolai will go with me to the realm. Sarah too.
“Are you sure you don’t want to tell him?” Owen whispers. He’s done with the final ritual and it’s time for us to move. I’ve been so good at hiding my broken heart for the past few days especially after Ezekiel marked me and we can feel each other's emotions.
I’m making sure to make every moment I spent with him special despite us being busy the past few days.
“This is my destiny, Owen and I must achieve it. He will stop me if he knows.” I mutter. I can see the pain in Owen's eyes. He cares about me. Not just him. Everyone in this pack. They treat me well. They love and respect me as their Luna and that’s why I will protect them.
The witches have suddenly gathered a lot of powers. We don’t know what they are capable of doing. Before it’s too late, we need to stop the devils and stop them too.
“Are you ready?” Ezekiel asks as he kisses my lips softly. I nodded and deepened the kiss. This might be the last time I will see him or kiss him. He kissed me back and I melted into his arms trying so hard not to be overwhelmed by my emotions.
We spent most of last night making out. I initiated it because I want to have him all to myself for the last time.
“We can do this…. Together.” I mumble into his mouth. “I love you.”
“I love you more.”
It was hard to leave his arms but I eventually did. I’m doing the right thing and he will understand me and forgive me.
We are all wearing the talisman made by Sarah. It’s what will keep us alive in the other realm, and it will help us return.
Sarah and I created an altar earlier. The four of us hold hands as we round the altar. Sarah looks at me and I give her a curt nod as we start chanting the spell we practiced beforehand.
