Conflicting emotions

Cadi's p o v

" I can't believe he had the audacity to come here and spout such rubbish, he sure has some guts, Egad should have had his legs broken to teach him a lesson." Megan says as we sit in the infirmary waiting for the healer. She's been chattering nonstop since we left my room half an hour ago, but I keep tuning her out. I'm a mess of emotions right now. I'm pretty sure I've run through every known emotion in existence in the last twenty four hours since Zita came to the palace. I've been angry, confused, agitated, and much more in turns.

Hearing Megan's voice go on and on isn't helping my emotional health in any way.

I haven't been in the same room with her since I heard her with Kavon in his office. I've tried to tell myself countless times that my pregnancy brain was just working over time, and that it wasn't her voice I heard, but hearing her voice right now is all the proof I need. I've been in shock since then. Megan is such a wonderful person, she's the last person I would suspect of having an affair, talk more of an affair with her mate's brother right under her mate's roof. I haven't dared telling anyone, not that I have anyone to tell, or that anyone would believe me, everyone loves and respects Megan.

Besides all I did was hear them, I didn't saw them in the act or anything, even if I had seen them fucking each other it would be my word against theirs, and who would believe an omega over the king's brother and his first mate.

I've not been able to look her in the face or be alone in a room with her, since then.

She does not suspect anything and does not even realize that I'm trying to avoid her, she blames my reluctance to leave my room on fatigue and stress from the pregnancy. I'm torn in different directions. I don't know whether to confront her or not. I try to delude myself that she may have a reasonable explanation. My subconscious glares at me whenever this thought crosses my mind. On the other hand, she may get angry and try to get me thrown out of the palace, since she has quite an influence on king Egad, it shouldn't be too hard for her to convince him to get rid of me.

Just when I was trying to calm the turbulence in my head, Zita had to come in with his silly self and demand that I be returned to him, like I was a ping pong ball to be passed from player to player. I still can't believe that Zita, my sweet and goofy lifelong friend, had the bravado to look King Egad in the eye and give him an ultimatum.

But then, he had rejected me for my sister, so I guess I didn't really know the young man I called my best friend.

King Egad has tried to stand his ground, but he's under a lot of pressure from the council, and as I sit here waiting for the healer, I fear that this might be my last time here.

Megan brings me back to the present with a tap on my shoulders.

" Huh?"

" Did you even hear a word of everything I said, you looked like you were a thousand miles away."

" I'm sorry Megan," I say. " I was lost in thought."

" There's no need to apologize," she smiled.

" I can't even imagine what you're going through, to be suddenly uprooted from your pack, the way you were, and just when you're starting to settle down here, this happens."

I smile wryly

The door opens and the healer comes in with another woman, I've only seen once, since I've been in the palace- at the mating ceremony. She had sat with her arms crossed glaring at me throughout the ceremony.

She must have been a very important wolf, perhaps even a member of the council, because Megan rises and bows to greet her. I try to follow suit, but Siegard, the healer puts her hand on my shoulder and gently pushes me back down.

" You lie back and relax. This is Wilmer, my trainer and our seer," she says nodding at the woman with her.I brought her with me to help me confirm my suspicions."

" Is anything wrong with my baby," I ask, my voice cracking with worry.

" No, nothing's wrong."

" Then what suspicions do you need to confirm?"

" Just relax and you'll know soon enough. Now lie back and let us examine you."

Megan pats my hand reassuringly. " Relax and let them do their job."

Wilmer comes to me, and gently pushes me down on the bed. She rolls up my shirt and runs her hands lightly across my belly.

She suddenly stills and staggers back, she falls into the chair Megan had been sitting on.

Siegard rushes to her and grabs her arm. " Are you alright?" She asked, concern evident in her voice.

Wilmer nods. " I can't believe the prophecy is coming to pass in my lifetime." She says sounding dazed

Siegard smiles. " The prophecy, I wasn't mistaken then."

" No you weren't," Wilmer looks at me in awe. "She carries destined ones."

" The destined ones?" Megan asked incredulously. " Are you sure?"

" I can still feel their aura, the prophecy is finally being fulfilled."

I'm confused.

" Can someone please explain to me what you mean? What prophecy? What are you all talking about."

Siegard takes my hand in her's.

" Long ago, the Lycan empire was not divided into different packs, there was one big pack called the Lycan pack, they all lived together in harmony and peace, the streets rang with laughter and there was joy in every house. Everything they had was shared equally, no one was more than his neighbor, everyone was equal. But five centuries ago, discord crept among them, a fight broke out between two young men on the hunting field, one of them was killed and his family sought revenge by kidnapping a member of the other one's family.

The fight spread out causing a blood bath in the pack, the park was torn apart and the different fragments went their different ways.

A prophecy however was made that someone from the Royal family would bear twin boys who would be called the destined ones. They would grow up to be Alphas and reunite the Lycan pack.

For five centuries, we have been waiting and our wait is soon to come to an end. Carry not only the first twin boys we have seen in five centuries, but also baby boys with auras so strong, they can't be anyone but the destined ones.
