Chapter 34

The next day couldn’t come any faster, I was ready to leave the house and go on the planned date... outing! I corrected myself.

It wasn’t a date, it was a proposed outing that Tobias had promised.

I freshened up and wore a thick sweater since the weather was cold and then a pair of jeans. I looked good. The sweater was extra fluffy. I put in the gloves he had given me, the distinctive grey colour somehow fit perfectly into the outfit I wore.

♡♡ ready?” I texted him,

“Yeah, I’d meet you outside of the restaurant in a moment” he texted back. Somewhere in the night, I had randomly texted him, needing an avenue to escape the situation I was in.

We had texted back and forth, discussing like we have known each other our whole lives. It really was exciting .

I looked at myself in the mirror, making sure that I looked perfect before I stepped out of the room.

“Hey babe” Ben said making breakfast, or rather assisting Emily to fix breakfast, Elias looked at me with a look of apology. That was the best way to describe his look.

“Hi” I said smiling at him. I had cried the previous night, there was nothing that changed. The best thing to do was to keep my head high and not let it affect me.

“we made you a plate” he said putting a plate filled with food on the side of the table where I usually sat

“That won’t be necessary, i have somewhere to be.” I said to the shock of Ben.

He looked disappointed? Shocked? Confused? I couldn’t really place the look and honestly, I didn’t care. I was too excited about my da...outing with Tobias to care.

“ But I planned the day for us” my ears picked up at that, along with my happiness. I was seconds away from calling Tobias to cancel because of an emergency that was until he added “along with Emily and maybe Elias if he’s up for it” I felt as though someone had taken my hopes to the sky and dropped it from there.

“oh” I said trying to hide my disappointment. I cleared my throat so that I could continue to speak. “there is no need for that, maybe some other time.”

“Oh come on, don’t be like that, this is the last day for them here before they go back to Birmingham. We can sure make it a memorable one for them before they head back..

“I’m pretty sure it’s been memorable alright” I said and walked out. The longer I stayed the more irritated I got raising the chances of ruining my date, I mean outing.

I didn’t miss the way Emily’s eyes lit up when she discovered that I wasn’t going to be joining. Ben was looking straight at me so he couldn’t have seen it.

I walked to the restaurant just as Tobias messaged me that he was already waiting for me.

I increased my speed, wanting to catch up with him and not make him wait any longer than he needed to.

“hi” just said a little out of breathe as i saw him, I was using my whole face to smile at this point, I could actually have been mistaken for pennywise

“Hey” he smiled back, looking really nice with his smile looking nothing less than perfect.

“sorry I’m a little late, I had a bit of an issue” he shook his head, murmuring an ‘it’s okay’

“Have you had breakfast yet?” I shook my head no. Its not like I was willing to stay with Emily and Ben.

“Great” he smiled again, causing dimples to appear on his face “I know a place” he took me to a breakfast spot, the place was amazing, I could smell the pastries before i even walked in..

“this place looks amazing” I said, taking in the atmosphere of the place.

“Yeah” we went to take a seat the waiter coming to take our order.

“So what’s your favourite colour” it went from there, we had light conversations about everything we could think of.

He was gentle.

“what school do you go to?” he asked.

I paused for a moment

I didn’t know what to say. My mum didn’t give me the option to go to college not because they didn’t have the money, but she thought it was a waste of time to send me to school.

I shrugged, deciding to play it off.

“secondary school. That’s the highest I went “ he nodded his head, not noticing how my voice had changed, thankfully.

“You’re wearing my gloves”

He said, a smile on his face. He didn’t seem to stop smiling through out.

“yeah, wanted to think of you today, hope you don’t mind it” he shook his head immediately

“at all. I love it actually”

We time went by again and then we found ourselves just sitting there talking till the sun was high up.

“you know, I heard of this new place that opened. Care to go? They have a good arcade and stuff.

“sure.” Je could have told me to go to the moon or even jump into the pits of hell with that smile on his face and I would willingly do it, not even thinking twice about it.

“You don’t go out often do you?” he said still with a smile on his face

I could tell he didn’t mean it in a bad way.

“nope, I don’t stay around that much”

It wasn’t a lie. It was only a matter of time before Ben would say we should go back to Birmingham, and I wasn’t excited to leave.

“I would show you every good place there is”

We were half way through to the place when I realised that I had left my outer coat back at the breakfast place. And it was freezing cold

“What’s the matter?” he looked at me, realising that something was wrong.

“my coat, I left it there” I felt stupid saying it. How could I have left something so important?

It was his damned smile I swear..

“it’s fine, we could get back and get it on our way back. For now...” he shrugged off his coat and gave me, placing it on my shoulders and urging me to wear it.

My stomach did a backflip.

“but you’d be cold”

He shook his head no. “its no big deal, I brought you out, i should take care of you at least.
