Chapter 10
"You bastard...! Let me go...! Hey, let me go...!"
Layla was starting to lose her voice because she kept screaming at whoever she hoped had the authority to free her from this dungeon.
"Miss Layla, you should rest and save your energy. They won't release you until Master Lucien comes home." Kerry said. Both she and her two friends, they just sat quietly. In contrast to Layla who continues to scream to be freed.
"I hate this place. What if he doesn't come home?"
"Master will definitely come home."
"Why can you act so calm? I thought you were quite scared when he scolded the three of you."
"We just don't want to waste energy."
"You mean surrender, right?"
"It's not like that, it's just that we-" Kerry stopped her words. For some reason, she seemed hesitant to tell Layla anything.
"Just what?"
"It's okay, we know our mistakes so there's no point in avoiding and not admitting mistakes."
"It's not your fault, honestly it was me. If only I had followed your advice, this would definitely not have happened. The three of you would have gone unpunished and been held in this underground prison. It's crazy, how could they be allowed to build a prison like this? Isn't this cruel? What's the purpose?"
Layla kept asking question after question which for her really disturbed her mind. A luxurious mansion in a remote place, dozens of guards in all black clothes, someone who freely carries a rifle and bullies others with gunfire, an underground prison. What kind of person could do all these strange actions?
"I'm sure he's not an ordinary man, what kind of business does he actually run? Do you guys know anything?" Layla asked. But Kerry, Judy and Mona refused to answer. Layla's wild questions and assumptions made their faces turn pale and worry was clear on their faces.
"You guys don't want to tell me? Why are you silent?"
"We're sorry, Miss Layla. But we were asked not to answer any of your questions about Mr. Lucien' life and work."
"What's wrong with that question?"
"I'm really sorry, but if you want to know, you can ask Mr. Lucien directly."
"Geez, you three can't work together, right? I mean, if you want to help me with information. I will find a way to escape from this place and of course I will definitely take you along too. My husband is very rich and has influence, if you tell me about what happened here and how your master and his crazy brother treated me, he will definitely understand and do something for me."
Layla's words weren't enough to convince them to believe it, they actually felt doubtful that a husband who had the heart to sell his wife to another man would want to help his wife get free like that, it seemed quite impossible for that to happen.
"We're sorry, Miss Layla."
"I know, you must be doubting my story, right? You must think that a husband who has sold his wife to another man, wouldn't possibly want to waste his time picking up what he had sold."
"Miss Layla, it's not like that. We just-"
"It's okay, you don't need to feel guilty about me. I understand, however I will still find out for myself who Lucien Stephenson really is and how influential is he to be able to enslave someone like this?
"How influential am I?"
Layla was shocked when she heard Lucien' voice, who without realizing it, was standing right in front of the iron bars. Her eyes widened in surprise to see Lucien in his black tuxedo standing like a mannequin looking at her with cold and mysterious evil eyes.
"Y-you? S-since when did you-"
"Trying to escape, Layla?"
"N-no, I just-" Layla stammered a reply. Lucien could easily intimidate her just with his eyes and his deep, cold voice. He didn't react too much, but every little action he took made Layla unable to move.
"Come out!" He said as he unlocked the iron bars. Layla hesitated, realizing that Lucien letting her out actually made her feel like this man might be planning something.
"I-I-"
"Why? You don't want to go out and choose to stay here tonight?"
"I-I'll come out if you free them too!"
"What did you say?"
"I-I mean, I'll come out if they're free too. So-"
Without further ado, Lucien immediately closed the iron bars again and left as if he didn't care if Layla remained in this place.
"Hey wait! Where are you going? Don't leave me...!"
"You want to stay here, right? Please spend the night here if you want!"
"No...! Don't do that to me, Lucien Stephenson...! You bastard, get me out of here...!" Layla screamed. Hoping that Lucien will change his mind and release her. But Lucien continued to ignore her and actually left her here.
"Miss Layla, we are sorry. You shouldn't have to worry about us. You could-"
"Come on, just shut up! I really hate that bastard, who does he think he is? I should have slapped him harder yesterday!"
"Miss Layla?"
"It's annoying, those rich men, they're all bastards. They choose and sleep with any woman they want, once they're bored, they'll just dump her. What bastards!" Layla grumbled in annoyance until her voice trembled. She tried to hold back her tears so they wouldn't spill, but all the bitterness she experienced in this place made everything John said to her clearer.
"You're worthless!"
