Chapter 118: We're the Same

Diana watched George walk away, totally mesmerized. "Mr. Windsor really is a gentleman," she sighed.

Orion cleared his throat a couple of times, snapping Diana out of her trance.

"Ms. Percy, Ms. Morris, this way, please," he said, leading them into the CEO's office. He poured them each a glass of water and then left.

Anne settled onto the office sofa, taking in the room. It was huge, almost like a suite, with several other rooms branching off the main workspace. All the doors were closed, making her wonder what was behind them.

Diana's attention was drawn to the floor-to-ceiling window behind the desk. She got up and walked over to it. The window was completely transparent, offering an amazing bird's-eye view of the city. The elevated highways, bustling with traffic, looked like the city's lifeblood, always in flow.

Holding her water cup, Diana imagined George standing there, sipping coffee and looking out at the view. She couldn't help but smile.

Anne noticed Diana standing there, lost in thought, and walked over. "What are you thinking about?" she asked.

Diana was startled and quickly took a sip of water. "Nothing," she said.

George soon finished his meeting and came back. He called in a female secretary from the hallway and had her remove her makeup right there, so Diana could redo it and show off her skills.

The test was simple, and Diana wasn't nervous. She opened her makeup kit and got to work. Her technique was light but skilled, each step done with ease. Watching her was like watching an artist.

In less than an hour, Diana was done. The secretary looked at herself in the mirror, smiled in satisfaction, but said nothing.

Diana smiled back and turned to George. "Mr. Windsor, are you satisfied?" she asked.

"Your skills are indeed impressive. Your studio will handle the models' makeup for the Windsor Group's upcoming promotional event," he said.

"Thank you, Mr. Windsor. I won't let you down," Diana replied, winking at Anne, who was genuinely happy for her. If George was willing to hire her, the industry's blockade against her would soon be over.

Anne smiled at Diana, while George secretly smiled at Anne.

"I think it's about lunchtime. How about I treat you to a meal?" George suggested.

"Sure," Diana quickly accepted before Anne could decline.

Anne smiled and said, "Why don't you two go ahead? I promised Aunt Remy I'd have lunch with her, so I'll head back first." She made an excuse to leave, giving Diana and George some alone time.

Diana gave her a thumbs-up before turning to George, noticing he was still staring after Anne.

Diana waved her hand in front of George's face. "Mr. Windsor, what are you going to treat me to?" she asked.

George snapped out of it, realizing Anne's intention.

He couldn't help but feel a bit annoyed at Diana for messing up his plan, so he grinned mischievously. "How about pineapple pizza?"

"Pineapple pizza?" Diana thought it was odd. Do they even have such a place in this city? And she'd heard that pineapple pizza had a peculiar taste. She didn't expect George to have such an unusual preference.

Anne left the office and was waiting for the elevator when Sable and Ondine approached.

"Anne, I know what you're up to. Do you really think having George hire Diana will lift the industry's blockade against her?" Sable sneered, having had Ondine investigate and find out they were seeking George's help.

"Why wouldn't it?" Anne shot back, giving Sable a cold look.

"The Carter family has more influence in the entertainment industry than you can imagine. If I decide to blacklist someone, I have various ways to do it. You can ask George to protect her once, but can he do that every time?"

Anne's face darkened. "What grudge do you have against Diana that you have to go to such lengths?"

Sable sneered. "I have no grudge against her; it's all because of you!"

"Me?"

"Anyone associated with you, I will target!"

Anne was speechless and didn't want to deal with Sable, this crazy woman. Just then, the elevator doors opened, and Anne was about to step in.

Sable signaled to Ondine, who suddenly stuck out a foot, trying to trip Anne.

Anne laughed coldly, her reflexes quick. Not only did she avoid tripping, but she also stepped hard on Ondine's foot.

Ondine yelped in pain as Anne stepped into the elevator. The doors closed before Ondine could argue.

"Useless! You can't even handle a small task," Sable snapped at Ondine. Then, turning around, she saw Diana and George walking out of the office, chatting and laughing. Jealousy flared in her eyes.

Anne took a car back to Windsor Manor. She hadn't actually promised Remy to have lunch together. Remy was still out shopping with her friends.

Anne had lunch alone and was about to take a nap when she received a call from Diana, who was furiously complaining about George.

"You know, George seems so proper, but why does he like pineapple pizza? And the weirdest part is, he actually took me there. The taste was so strange."

"Sounds like you had a fun meal," Anne smiled, listening and occasionally responding.

"Although the food was a bit odd, Mr. Windsor is still very gentlemanly. I feel my affection for him has increased."

Hearing Diana's laughter over the phone, Anne felt a bit worried and asked, "Diana."

"What?"

"Are you sure you want to pursue George?"

"Of course. Do I ever joke about such things?"

"But I have to remind you, George's love life is not simple. The media has exposed at least ten of his girlfriends, all socialites or actresses. Sometimes he might even be dating two women at once. So you..."

"That makes us a perfect match!"

Diana didn't care at all. "My love life is also messy. I often bring different men home. We're the same."
