Chapter 142: Kill Isabella
Caleb shot a look and said, "You're on your own now."
The guy in black pressed down on Clayton's hand and, with a quick flick, sliced off his pinky. Blood sprayed everywhere.
Clayton stared at his missing finger, let out a scream, and passed out cold.
"Mr. Spencer, should I take another one?" the man in black asked.
George took a long drag from his cigarette, blowing out the smoke slowly. "Wake him up first."
"Got it, boss."
Three buckets of water later, Clayton came to, groggy and soaked. The moment he saw George, he started pleading, completely ignoring his missing pinky. "Mr. Spencer, please, I won't do it again. Spare me."
George finished his cigarette, looking at him with cold eyes. "Do you know what you did wrong?"
"I was wrong, I swear. Please, no more fingers. I get it, I'm sorry."
George stayed silent, and Clayton's panic grew. "Mr. Spencer," he begged, crawling over to George. "Please, have mercy."
Caleb stepped in, pulling Clayton aside. "Clayton, Mr. Spencer can be generous. But it all depends on you."
Clayton's mind went blank for a second, but his survival instinct kicked in. "About the shares, I'll help Mrs. Spencer and get it done ASAP."
"We're not forcing you, right?" Caleb asked.
"No, no, it's my responsibility. I'll handle it. Mr. Spencer, you'll see."
George seemed pleased. He stood up, giving Clayton a look that nearly made him wet himself.
George and Caleb walked out, and Caleb chuckled. "Man, Clayton's such a wimp."
George said, "Keep an eye on him. I've seen his type before. Don't let his fear fool you; he could turn on you in a heartbeat."
Caleb stopped laughing and nodded. "Got it, Mr. Spencer."
Two days later, Isabella got another call from Clayton. She didn't want to pick up, but he kept calling. "Hello?"
Clayton's voice came through, "Mrs. Spencer, you finally answered. Can you come to the Jones Group? I'll hand over the shares Lucas left to you."
Isabella was suspicious, thinking it might be a trap. "Weren't you against it?"
"The shares aren't mine. I was just talking nonsense. If you can't come, I can bring the documents to you."
Isabella thought it over. "Alright, I'll bring a lawyer with me."
"Okay, I'll be waiting."
After hanging up, Isabella still couldn't figure out what Clayton was up to. But with a lawyer, she felt safer.
The Jones Group was a ghost town, half the staff gone since her last visit. When she saw Clayton, the first thing she noticed was the thick bandage on his left hand. She thought, 'Did Clayton hurt himself?'
"Mrs. Spencer, this way, please." Clayton was still as fake as ever.
Isabella glanced at the lawyer, who gave a nod. They followed Clayton into the office.
Everything was ready. Signing and stamping took less than half an hour, and the shares were officially transferred to Isabella.
Clayton put all the documents and certificates into a paper bag and handed it to her. "You're now the biggest shareholder of the Jones Group. Whether you want to restructure or keep things running is up to you."
"Got it." She took the bag and handed it to the lawyer.
The lawyer tucked it away, and they left the Jones Group.
After Isabella left, Clayton trashed his office. The pain from his missing pinky still throbbed. He dialed Donna's number.
When Donna arrived, she was fuming. "What the hell are you doing? How could you just hand over the shares?"
Clayton sighed, "You think I wanted to? If I didn't agree, I might not have made it out alive."
Donna then noticed the thick bandage. "What happened to your hand?"
"I lost a finger."
Donna shook her head. "George is ruthless."
"I need to get revenge."
"How? Can you even take on George? We can't even handle Isabella." Donna was seething with anger.
"If we can't beat them, then..." Clayton's eyes darkened with murderous intent, matching Donna's thoughts.
Originally, she didn't want to commit murder. But Isabella was digging into Hazel's fall from years ago and had already found a witness. If this continued, Donna might end up in jail.
Killing Isabella seemed like the best solution. But Donna didn't know how to do it. "She's George's wife. We might..."
Clayton slammed the table. "I have a plan. Just wait and see."
Donna wrapped her arms around Clayton's neck, poking his chest with her finger. "Don't be mad. I know you're capable. Sometimes you have to endure to rise above."
Clayton grabbed Donna's waist and gave it a hard squeeze. "You want it again?"
"We haven't been together for a while. Clara isn't home today. My place?"
Clayton gave Donna a deep kiss. "I'll wear you out tonight."
Donna didn't know what Clayton had planned. She was more focused on how to clear her name in this murder plot. She thought Clayton was the perfect scapegoat. Both had their own agendas.
Isabella handed the Jones Group matters to the lawyer, and George had Caleb help her out.
Everything was going smoothly. But with Caleb busy at the Jones Group, he couldn't help George as much.
It was clear that George had been very tired lately. Isabella walked up behind him and started massaging his shoulders. "You look exhausted. How about taking a break?"
"The group is facing some challenges in the Euralis market. I've been in constant communication. It's wearing me out." George closed his eyes and let his body relax.
Isabella thought of Joshua. "Joshua knows the Euralis market well. Should we ask him to come back and help you?"
