Chapter 113
Chapter 113
The way Sophia looked calmer than she had expected, really unsettled her. Slowly, Jessica’s eyes widened. Then suddenly, she understood the present situation.
Her face changed, making her look like a cold witch.
“You.” She pointed at Sophia with a deep frown on her face.
People looked between them while Jessica stared at Sophia only. Sophia then walked forward calmly with so much confidence that Jessica laughed in disbelief.
“You did this?” She questioned Sophia.
Sophia stopped a few steps away and sighed like a graceful woman.
“When we met at the restaurant, I was already recording our conversation.” Sophia said, proud of her brains.
The office became completely silent and Jessica’s face drained completely of its color as she realized what that meant.
“You admitted everything, remember? You explained how you got close to me, admitted trying to destroy my marriage and admitted making that post.” Sophia said and took a pause as she tried to manage the anger rising inside of her.
“And you even admitted you wanted to turn everything to your advantage because of jealousy and bitterness.”
Sophia let out a small breath like that breath was what she needed to peacefully ooze out of every anger she was trying to contain.
“I needed people to hear it from you since there was no way they would believe me. They needed to know that you manipulated and took advantage of my kindness.”
“No! This isn’t over!” Jessica laughed angrily and shook her head, unable to take the fact that she had lost even before she was able to get her next step done.
“You think this means you won?” Her voice rose. “It’s not over yet!” She voiced out.
The officers then stepped in to curb the situation.
“Miss Jessica, come with us.”
Jessica tried pulling away. Her eyes stayed fixed on Sophia but Sophia didn’t flinch one bit. Eventually, the officers escorted Jessica out while she kept throwing angry looks back.
The office stayed quiet until she disappeared. A few moments later, the H.O.D walked towards Sophia, then smiled slightly.
“I’m happy for you. You were able to clear your name as fast as possible.” She said to her genuinely.
“Thank you.” Sophia responded, smiling.
“Now start work before I change my mind.” The HOD said jokingly.
Sophia laughed softly and nodded.
Soon, the office gradually returned to normal. As Sophia sat back at her desk, she realized something and that was the fact that she faced a trouble as disturbing as this, herself.
She didn’t include Damien and fought back to make things right. And somehow, that felt good.

By evening, Sophia packed up and headed home. She sat quietly in the backseat while the driver drove.
She felt unusually peaceful, then suddenly, the driver’s phone rang.
He answered the call and ensured his eyes were still fixed on the road. After the call ended, his expression changed slightly.
He slowed down and Sophia looked up, wondering why the sudden slow down when she hadn’t asked for one.
“What happened?” She questioned him.
The driver then glanced into the mirror.
“Mr. Sterling asked me to take you somewhere.”
Sophia frowned. “What location?”
The driver smiled politely. “I’m not permitted to say, ma’am.”
Sophia’s eyelids fluttered as she looked inwardly.
“What?”
Before she could ask again, her phone vibrated. She picked it up and saw it was a text from Damien.
“The driver will be taking you somewhere. I’ll be waiting, my love.”
Sophia found it difficult to take her eyes off the message, because she was so curious, thinking about what was Damien’s plan at this moment, then slowly, she looked outside the window.
Sophia kept looking outside the window as the car continued moving. At first, she assumed Damien probably wanted to have dinner somewhere or maybe surprise her after everything that happened.
But after several more minutes, she realized she didn’t recognize the route.
Her curiosity slowly increased.
Eventually, the driver slowed down and pulled over.
“We’re here, ma’am.” He informed her respectfully.
Sophia looked up and outside. Her brows slowly pulled together. It was a restaurant, indeed. But something felt strange immediately.
The place looked closed. There was barely any visible activity and hanging clearly near the entrance was a CLOSED sign.
The lights inside looked dim too. Sophia looked around and her confusion deepened.
She glanced back at the driver. “Are you sure?”
The driver smiled politely. “Yes, ma’am.”
Sophia slowly reached for her phone and dialed Damien in which he picked up quickly.
“Hello.”
Sophia looked at the building again before speaking.
“Are you sure this is the place?”
“Yes babe. As long as you’re standing in front of Royal Dine.”
Sophia frowned. “It looks closed.”
“Just go in.”
“What?” Sophia exclaimed in confusion.
“It’s open.”
Her confusion increased, then she looked at the entrance again.
“This feels suspicious.”
Damien laughed softly. “Trust me.”
Sophia narrowed her eyes slightly. After everything today, she honestly didn’t have energy for strange surprises.
She sighed. “Okay.”
Sophia ended the call and stepped out of the car. The evening air brushed against her skin as she walked towards the entrance.
She got to the door and for a second, she hesitated. Then she pushed, and the door opened.
Sophia blinked. Inside looked even darker than she expected.
She stepped in slowly and the door closed quietly behind her.
The place looked empty, and she didn’t like the feeling of that.
“Damien?” She called out to him softly.
But she didn’t get an answer. Her heartbeat picked up slightly. Then she reached into her bag for her phone.
“Why does this feel like a horror movie?”
She unlocked her screen and started turning on her flashlight, but before she could, the lights suddenly came on.
Sophia jumped slightly.
Her eyes widened, and then she froze.
The entire restaurant had been transformed. Soft lights glowed warmly across the room, fresh flowers decorated the tables, candles flickered gently and beautiful decorations stretched across the space.
At this point, she was just too overwhelmed to speak.
