Chapter 177: LET'S GO AWAY

Samantha's Point Of view

I could barely recognize the woman I'm becoming. The thought of losing him felt like I was on the verge or losing my own sanity.. I loved him, I was obsessed with him and I didn't want to lose him but Cassandra was pushing my limits, she was pushing me and I can't control myself any more.. I will destroy her and show her what happens if she tries to take what belongs to me.. I don't care if she was my fellow woman.. At this point I don't mind admitting that I was fighting for a man but that's the issue—he wasn't just any man.. He was my man.

“Can we go home now?” Nicholas’s voice pulled me out of my thoughts.

I lifted my gaze and stared at him. “Can't we stay here a little bit longer?”

“Anything you want, sweetheart. Just tell me when you are ready to go.”

“Thank you.” I whispered.

His brow lifted.. “Why are you thanking me?”

“to understand me.” I told him. “You could have gotten angry and told me I was overreacting but you didn't and I appreciate that.”

“ how you feel isn't overreacting.” Nicholas said calmly. “You were expressing your feelings and I'm glad you didn't because I'd know how you feel and how I should react going forward.”

A smile tugged the corner of my lips. How can Cassandra think I was going to give him up? He's the only man who can love me this much and I will never give him up no matter what I had to do.

Nicholas and I sat in silence but it wasn't uncomfortable or tense… It was rather a smooth silence that calmed the storm raging within me.. Only he was capable of that.

A week had passed and Cassandra was too quiet. I don't understand what she was planning but I was planning everything to destroy her in her own gaze.. Nicholas took a day off from his office and took it upon himself to drop me and take me from work after we dropped Noah.

He was doing everything in his power to reassure me–it is not that I don't trust him but I don't trust the woman who had their eyes on him. I had no choice but to play dirt in order to keep them away and send a strong message to Cassandra.. One of Nicholas’s assistants tried to flirt with him but I made sure to regret it without even hiding it..

Nicholas squeezed my hand, pulling me out of my thoughts. We were taking a walk under the street light, hand in hand after having a romantic dinner he planned.. I suggest we take a walk instead of going home.

“Where are you lost?” He asked softly.

I smiled.. “Nothing much..” I muttered. “I love this.. Us together.”

“And I love you.” Nicholas stopped walking. He turned to look at me. I wrapped my arms around his neck and he pulled me closer.

“Aren't you being a little too romantic these days?”

“Am I?” He leaned closer and placed a soft peck on my lips. “Do you like it?”

“I love every moment I spend with you.” I kissed him back but he didn't let me go. He captured my lips, deepening the kiss.

“Maybe we should go home.” I panted against his lips as he pulled me even closer..

“No..”He broke the kiss. “I don't want to ruin this moment for us.” He placed one last peck on my lips and took my hand into his again, sending his warmth rushing through me.

We continued walking alongside the room.. “You know.. I meant what I said that day?”

I narrowed my eyes.. “What?”

“Let's go somewhere far away and start afresh. We can leave this life of wealth and underworld behind.. I've saved enough money that can keep us going for decades.. We can raise our son, have many babies and a peaceful life.”

My heart skipped a beat at his suggestion. I wasn't ready to leave this life behind. This life has given me an identity, something I didn't have.

I wasn't ready to give up everything just like that. I wanted to stay here, continue with this life because that's who I am.. Without it, I was the old weak Samantha who couldn't fight for herself.. I didn't want to be that person again.

Heavy silence filled the air. I didn't know what to say or how to reply without hurting his feelings. He was right in his point of view but I didn't know who I was without this life.

“You don't have to reply now.” Nicholas broke the silence. “Take your time and think about it. And remember you are a changed woman. You can never become that Samantha again.” He added as if he was reading my mind.

“I will think about it..” I muttered. I needed to think properly and make a wise decision that's gonna benefit us. I don't want to say no to him. He was right, maybe if we go away from here, I won't have to deal with a woman like Cassandra. We will lead a good and a peaceful life with no issues.

“Thank you for considering it. I hope you will make a good decision that will benefit all of us.” Nicholas said.

My chest tightened. Was I going to be selfish if I chose to stay behind? I didn't want to hurt his feelings but I also didn't want to lose myself again. Which was the right decision for everyone?

I forced a smile as I nodded silently. I didn't want to make a promise I didn't know I'd be able to keep or not..

Before I could get to utter a word. The sound of my phone ringing from my pocket filled the air. I slipped my hand in and pulled my phone out.

My brows furrowed to see a call from Mister Smith Martin. I answered the call and brought it to my ears.

“Mister Martin.. How can I help you?” I asked.

“You need to watch the news and explain to me what the heck is happening..” He didn't give me another chance to utter a word and he hung up.
