Chapter 176: Mine Alone

Nicholas’s Point Of view

Her insecurity is valid. The way she's feeling is understandable. She was reasonable. But I don't know how to deal with this–I wanted to get rid of Cassandra but she allowed her to stay–removing her from the red house was the only way he could get rid of her but even that didn't work and now she's angry at me too.

We stayed in the car in silence. She didn't start the engine nor did she utter a word–her silence was suffocating because she wasn't just silent, she was livid and I don't think she was going to calm down any time soon. But I won't sit quietly and allow rage to consume her.

I gently took her hand into mine and placed a soft kiss on the back of it.. “I'm sorry.” I whispered. “You are angry because of me. I allowed another woman to come between us. I shouldn't have recognized your perfume on her.”

Samantha didn't say anything nor did she push me away. But I wasn't going to give up. As long as she was listening to me, that's all that mattered.

“But she can't do anything more than that. I belong to you. Only you have the right to be this close to me. No other woman is even allowed to breathe the same air as me in the same space. Don't let her question your ownership of me or my love for you. She's no one but we are everything together. Please forgive me my love.”

Samantha sucked in a sharp breath. My eyes widened as tears rolled down her cheeks landing on my arm. “Hey.. Are you crying?” I moved my hand to her face, cupping her cheek. I placed a soft kiss on her forehead and pulled her into a tight embrace.

“I grew up without knowing what love is.” Samantha sobbed in my chest. “I was all alone. I had nothing or anyone to turn to. I fought for everything I have, why does she want to take it all away.” Her voice cracked with each word.

My chest tightened. This was affecting her more than I thought, she was just wearing a facade but this was slowly eating her. How dare Cassandra do this to her, what she thinks of herself. It was time I took the matter in my own hands and dealt with it properly.

“Hey, look at me.” I pulled her out of my embrace and made her look at me. Her eyes were red, face now puffy. “No one will ruin what we have. I won't allow anyone to do this to you or us. I promise you, please trust me.”

“I trust you but I don't trust her.” She sniffed.. “I don't want to lose you. I really can't live without you.”

I rubbed my thumb against her skin, wiping away her tears. “Let's leave everything and leave the city then. We can start afresh somewhere far away from here and no one will bother us.”

It was probably a rushed decision but for her happiness I was ready to lose it all.

Samantha shook her head in denial. “We can't leave everything behind because of her.” Her voice was barely above a whisper. “But I need you to promise me something.” She locked her gaze with mine.

“I will do anything to see a smile on your face again.”

“You will never leave me for another woman, right.”

“Cheating on you is a sin and the only way I will repent is to end my life because I won't be able to live with myself anymore.” I meant each word, I'd rather die than to hurt the woman I loved.

A smile tugged at the corner of her lips and I felt like I'd won in life. Her smile was priceless, nothing can be compared to it. “I love you, Nicholas Lewis. You belong only to me alone.”

I chuckled. “I love you, Samantha Ross. You belong only to me alone.” I pulled her into a tight embrace again. “Don't let anyone make you doubt the place you have in my heart. It exclusively belongs to you and no one else.”

“I will never doubt you..” She whispered, her voice barely above a whisper. “I'm just scared. I don't want to be alone and become that old Samantha again. I want to be with you because you are the only home I know of.”

“I will deal with Cassandra.” I muttered my voice dropping into a whisper. “She has no right to make you cry. Her days alive are numbered.”

“Don't kill her.” Samantha said, trying to pull herself together. “I will deal with her. I will show everyone what happens when they mess with me or my family.”

“Are you sure?”

“Yeah.. Just stay by my side.” She moved closer to my arms, burying her head in my chest. “I will fight my battles alone.”

“You won't hesitate to tell me when you need help right?”

“I will run to you when I need help.”

“Good.” I pulled her out of my embrace and stared at her. “You are beautiful.” It didn't matter if she had hair or not. She was still the woman I loved with everything I had in my veins..

Samantha rolled her eyes. “Are you trying to mock me?”

I shrugged.. “I'm just being honest.” I said calmly. “You won't believe me because you don't see yourself in my eyes.”

Her cheeks flushed but she forced herself to lock gaze with me. “Next time please tell me what you are feeling. I don't like seeing you worried and distressed. I want to share everything with you. Good things and bad things too.”

Samantha nodded. “I'm sorry.” She rested her head on my shoulder. “I was angry. I wasn't thinking.”

“I understand. Next time don't do it.”

And once again silence fell inside the car. I wasn't foolish enough not to know what was happening In her head, she was playing someone's downfall and that could be only Cassandra. I honestly hoped she'd kill that woman. I've had enough of her.
