Chapter 173: Want Her
Sam’s Point of view
Everything about her was addictive. Her confidence, bravery and how she carried herself–every move she made was well thought and accomplished properly. I hated how I couldn't see her as the woman my brother loved. I tried to push the feeling out of my chest but it was painfully impossible.. I wanted no other woman–it's not like I didn't try to have another woman but my imagination was only filled with her and the fact that she knew what was happening in my chest made it worse..
I gulped the wine in the glass and placed the glass on the table with a loud thud.
“Uncle, is everything alright with you?” Noah asked, pulling me out of my thoughts.
I chuckled as I ruffled his hair. “Everything is alright.” I lied. Nothing was alright, seeing Samantha laughing and smiling with my brother awaked something within me–envy. I wanted to have what he had despite knowing that I can't have it.
Samantha shifted her gaze towards me briefly and looked away but I couldn't bring myself to move my gaze.. Even though I couldn't get closer, I could at least look at her from afar–I don't mind loving her from afar.
“You don't look okay..” Noah pressed.
“Are you a little doctor, now huh?” I tickled him, causing him to burst into laughter.
“Noah is right, you know. You don't look okay.” Nicholas shifted his attention to me but I couldn't see his gaze, especially after having such emotions towards the woman he was going to marry.
“I'm exhausted.. You know work.” I muttered. “I will be fine after getting some rest.”
“Take it easy, Sam.” Concern flicked In Nicholas’s eyes. “You don't want to fall sick because of work.”
I swallowed the lump forming in my throat. What am I doing–he didn't deserve all this, especially after everything he went through because of me but how can I tell my heart to stop having these feelings?
“Maybe you should consider getting married, don't you think?” Samantha's gaze found mine again. “I'd also love to have a sister in law.”
My lungs constricted, restricting my breath. I didn't want anyone else–I can't see myself with anyone else except for her. She knew it and that's why she was pushing me into this marriage.
“That's a fantastic idea. You should consider settling down now.” Nicholas said, his voice laced with excitement.
“Umm.. I don't think I'd be settling down anytime soon.” I told them honestly.
“But why?”Nicholas asked.
“I haven't found the right woman yet.” I lied—I found the right woman but I could never have her. I could dream about having her but that was it–it was a fairy tale with no beginning or ending.
“Maybe you should look harder.” Samantha said, her eyes not leaving me. “You will find the right one for you. Don't chase after things you can't have.”
I let out a sigh.. “Our hearts want what they want and unfortunately, there's nothing I can do about it.” I retorted.
“But sometimes your heart isn't always right.. Maybe you should use your mind for a change.”
“Did you use your mind when you decided to spend the rest of your life with my brother?”
“That's different..”
“Can you elaborate the difference?”
“Wooh, what's wrong with the two of you?” Nicholas chimed in. “It's no pressure. If you aren't ready to settle down then it's totally fine. You don't have to force yourself to marry the person you don't love for the sake of it.”
“Finally, someone finally understands my point.” I said. I pushed the chair behind me ready to rise off the chair but a strong and delicious perfume filled my nostrils, a sweet vanilla and Lilly.
“This perfume..” Nicholas whispered. But before anyone could utter a word, the sound of footsteps filled the room as Cassandra strode into the house.
She was wearing a black dress which looked exactly like Samantha's and the same perfume we could smell before she entered the house.
Samantha rose off the chair as soon as she spotted Cassandra walking in. I couldn't believe she'd go to the extreme of dying her hair and put on the same hairstyle as Samantha and dared to come in this house.
She sure has the nerve and I don't know where she got the audacity to do such a thing without having any shame.
Samantha crossed her arms over her chest as she shot a glare at Cassandra who stood In the same posture, a smirk tugging the corner of her lips.
“Hey, Catty. How are you sweetheart?” Samantha's voice was filled with sarcasm.
“Cassandra is my name.” She retorted.
“But catty suits you better because you are a copycat.” Samantha said.
Noah bursted into laughter at his mom's words. “Auntie, do you know that copying other people is bad. My teacher said copying was wrong and you could get punished.”
“Don't worry my boy, aunt misses primary school so much, that's why she's playing this childish game.”
Cassandra smiled.. “Anyways, I came here especially to invite you all to my birthday party.”She slips her hand in her handbag and fishes out a card there. She placed it on the table next to Nicholas. “Please come, your presence will be highly appreciated.”.
Nicholas rose from the chair and he wrapped his arms around Samantha. “Unfortunately, we have plans. We can't make it.” His voice held no emotions. “If that's all, please excuse us. We have better things to do..” Nicholas held Samantha's hand, ready to leave but he stopped mid way. “This dress looks horrible on you. Not everyone is as curved as my fiance and it won't suit everyone.”
Cassandra’s face flushed red, without a word. She stormed out of the house. Before I could stop myself, I rushed after her.
“Stop!” I shouted. She stopped in her tracks and turned to me.
“What do you want, coward?” She taunted.
“What are you trying to do huh?”
“What you can't obviously do.” She retorted. “You should be joining me in this mission. You will have her again and I get what I want but you are obviously stupid to do anything.”
I walked closer to her and grabbed her chins, forcing her to look at me. “You better stay away from them or else you are going to regret it.” My voice dropped into a whisper. “Do you understand?”
I won't sit and allow her to ruin my brother's life. She had no fucking right to do all this nonsense.
