Chapter 164 Getting Married
Chapter 164 Getting Married
Samantha's Point Of view
Cassandra’s gaze locked with Noah quietly. It was a harmless gaze, it shouldn't worry me but something about it didn't make me comfortable. This woman was mentally unstable and I didn't like the way she was looking at me.
“I'm sorry for being bad to you Noah.” The boy muttered. “I will never do it again.”
“You will never bully any other kid right?” Noah asked.
“Do you promise?”
“I promise.”
A smile graced Noah's lips, his eyes twinkling with joy. He unexpectedly hugged the boy tightly. Relief washed over me so suddenly that my eyes burned with tears. I couldn't believe my son was this sensible, I thought he was going to slap him too–I allowed my emotions to get the best of me but he brought me back to my senses. He was just a child after all, he didn't understand how cruel this world was and he deserved to be a child and not deal with the matters of the world like a grown up.
“I'm impressed, Miss Ross. You are raising a good human being.” The principal’s words pulled me out of my daze. “We need more good men and I have no doubt that your son is one of them.”
I snapped my attention to her. “I hope this won't happen again.” I muttered. “The next time my son is bullied in this school, I will not spare anyone.”
I thought of changing his school but it will keep on confusing my son. He recently changed schools which made him fall back from his school work and now I can't no matter how much I wanted…
“I will personally make sure no one bullies this sweet boy.” The principal smiled, her gaze on Noah.
“Come on, my boy. Let's go.” I announced. There was no need to linger here any longer. I had no interest in being close to Cassandra, let alone being in the same room as her.
Sam didn't seem pleased with how everything ended. I wasn't pleased either, but I was glad that my son made his own decision–he made his own choice which was a good one.
“Bye, Sean. See you tomorrow.” Noah moved out of the embrace, waving at Cassandra's son, he walked to his uncle who carried him and we made our way out leaving Cassandra and the principal in the office along with the boy or should I say a bully.
As we reached outside, Sam placed Noah in the back seat and closed the door.
I leaned against the car, my attention on him. “Thank you for coming, I really appreciate it.”
His gaze averted mine. “Don't mention it. I was just fulfilling my duty.”
“What's going on, Sam?” I couldn't stop myself from asking. I thought I was overthinking but it was clear that I wasn't.
“I should probably leave.. I have a lot of work.”
He was trying to avoid me again but today I wasn't going to allow him to get away.
“Did I do anything wrong to you?”
“Why would you think like that?”
“You are avoiding me?”
He shrugged.. “What makes you think I'm avoiding you?” He finally lifted his gaze and stared into my eyes. Emotions I had no name to describe flashed in his eyes before he looked away again before I could get a chance to name them.
“Are you not?”I retorted.
“Noah must be tired. Why don't you take him home?”
“There, you are trying to push me away.” I glared at him. “Tell me if I did something wrong to you, I will apologize if it's gonna remove the awkwardness between us.” I crossed my arms over my chest.
“Are you getting married?” Sam’s gaze locked on the sparkling ring in my finger. I didn't even realise that I was wearing it. Nicholas must have made me wear it while I was sleeping but I don't understand why Sam is avoiding my question and asking me about my marriage.
“Nicholas proposed, we haven't decided on the date yet.”
Sam swallowed, his gaze still lingering on my ring.. “Umm.. Congrats.”
“Thank you..” I muttered. “Can we go back to what we were talking about? You haven't answered my question yet?”
He opened his mouth to speak but he didn't utter a word before he closed it again.. “I need to go..” He didn't give me a chance to respond before rushing toward his car.. He flung the door and stepped inside the car, he pulled the door closed with a loud thud. In less than a minute, he was already driving away.
My brows furrowed as I stared at his car driving away. I don't understand what was happening with Sam, I honestly tried my best to figure it out but I couldn't understand why Sam was avoiding me. Maybe it was better to give him the space he clearly wanted... Maybe I should leave him alone and stay out of his way. He knew why he was avoiding me and maybe one day when he's more comfortable he'd talk about it.
Before I could get inside the car, Cassandra stepped out of the building. I locked my gaze with her as she walked towards me, each step carrying grace. I finally gave myself time to take a good look at her. She was wearing a black blazer, wide-legged trousers with a white top. Her hair was tied into a bun.. Even if coincidences exist–this didn't feel like one to me.. But also I couldn't blame her for copying my style–maybe it was indeed a coincidence.
“You are still here?” Her eyes narrowed as she stared at me.
“Why, do you have a problem with my presence here?”
She chuckled.. “Of course not. I was just wondering why you are still here?”
“Thank you for your concern.”
I wasn't her friend and I won't fake my dislike of her.
“You are welcome.” Her voice was filled with contempt.. “Is Nicholas home? There's something I need to discuss with him.”
“That's a pity.” He pulled the strand off my hair behind my head, showing off the ring in my finger. “He left for some important work. You can tell me, I will pass the massage.”
Her gaze darkened as they locked on my ring, her face flushing red. But she managed to force a smile.“It's okay. I will wait.”
“Okay..” I whispered. “See you.” I waved my hair at her. I flung the door to my car open and stepped inside.
Seeing her like that brought satisfaction in me. I swear I've never hated anyone the way I hated her , she was just a pain in my neck.
