Chapter 13 Master Chadron
My Lady," Damon said as he kneeled before Angela on one knee, his face looking at the ground, as he handed her the rose and black card.
Angela looked at him at a loss of what to do: she had never seen anyone kneel down for her. Her cheeks wore a reddish hue and Zander did not fail to notice Angela's reaction to Damon's chivalry. He grabbed the card from the golden tray where it lay and was about to tear it open when in a flash Damon took it from him.
"It is meant for the lady," Damon said in an icy tone.
Angela's heart was beating fast as she witnessed the hostility between the two men, she felt torn between them and could not decide whether she should intervene or let decide whether she should intervene or let them be. Damon's reverence of Angela softened her heart towards him and caused her to resent Zander's possessive behavior. Zander was not the only one showing possessiveness, behind Angela Mizpah's snout almost touched Angela's back as he pushed himself to stand by her side. She turned towards Mizpah and absentmindedly caressed his chin placating him as he purred just like a huge kitten.
Zander had no such luck because she shot him a furious glance and then turned to Damon with a very sweet smile and accepted the rose, which he was holding out for her. He then asked her for permission to hand her the message sent to her by his master Chadron.
"My lady, may I have the honor of to her by his master Chadron.
"My lady, may I have the honor of delivering a message from my master? He insisted that I should only deliver to you by hand and to no one else," he said laying his charisma on thickly. He was encouraged by Angela's blush and shy smile, he could also hear the fast beat of her heart, and the angelic smell of her pure blood almost drove him crazy. His fangs almost descended when he touched her hand by mistake, as he handed her the card containing Chadron's message and felt how warm she was.
"Thank you," she said as she picked up the card smiling.
"It was an honor to make your acquaintance my lady," Damon said as he bowed before her.
"Oh come on: please don't bow down for
"Oh come on; please don't bow down for me. Just tell your master I received the message, " she said shyly.
"Please my lady; my master would have my head if I were to disrespect you,"
"Why would he do that?" she asked shocked to learn that the person who sent this charming man to her was capable of killing for something so petty.
Damon smiled at her, "You should not worry yourself about that, my apologies."
"Let's go inside," Zander said to her as he pushed her inside.
Natalia, who was standing with the other maids and Greta helped Zander by taking Angela's hand and tugging it trying to pull her inside but she pulled herself from their grip and went to Damon, "tell me, who is your master?" went to Damon, "tell me, who is your master?"
"He is a king and a benevolent man. You will be glad to know him personally," he smiled as he said that, bowed and left.
"I doubt that!" Greta scoffed.
Even though she said that in a low tone Damon's vampire hearing caught her words and turned back to look at her menacingly with his fangs protruding. His reputation as a slayer made him the most feared vampire aside from Chadron. He was known to annihilate a whole town and still not quench his blood thirst. There were stories told of how at one time Chadron had drained a whole city of blood in two days. Chadron had found him drenched in the blood of humans, fairies, werewolves, were cats and sirens and he was still thirsting for more. They had to fight until Chadron for a century trained him how to reign in his blood thirst, subdued him.
Whenever Chadron wanted to take over a territory, he would unleash Damon on its citizens until they submitted to him. He would then turn all the humans into vampires, training them as his loyal soldiers. His army of vampires was known as the fiercest in all the seven realms, they did not spare anyone who went against them. It was known that Chadron allowed Casper the emperor to rule over the supernatural but it was he who were in charge.
"You don't need to read that message you know, actually I would suggest you ignore it for the sake of your well-being, " Zander said to Angela as she went inside turning the black card this way and that way admiring the insignia and the beauty of the card.
"What is it with you? Mind your own business, " she turned to face Zander.
"I'm sorry but I will meddle in on this one; you have no idea who Chadron is. His hands are tainted with the blood they have shed of innocent victims just like you," he tried to convince her of his concern for her.
"Humph, nice try. I am not some frightened girl you want to keep in check. Again I'll say it to you for the last time; mind your own business. she said as she poked his chest with her index finger.
Zane was pushing to come out because of Angela's disrespect but Zander pushed him back He was growling and pacing around, asking to be let out to teach the human girl her place but Zander who had spent years training how to practice patience, pushed him back and practice patience, pushed him back and blocked him. His eyes had turned bloody red, the only outward visible sign of the struggle he had within him. Greta who understood Zander and was afraid for Angela pushed herself between them to break them apart.
Angela was already moving away from Zander, his red eyes scared her so much that she wanted to run but her pride would not allow her to let Zander see her in panic. He could smell her fear and saw it in her eyes. He started to walk towards her to give her an apology for scaring her but she thought he was coming towards her with an intent of harming her.
Without waiting for him to get near her, she ran from him holding her long gown to the side and the card from Chadron on the other. She missed the turn that would take her to her chambers and ran towards the North wing where Casper's chambers were located.
Greta and Zander looked at each other and started running towards Angela but halfway they stopped in their tracks. She had realized she was lost and was turning back to come towards where stay were. Greta pushed Zander signaling him to leave to give her space, even though his whole being refused to move an inch, he pushed himself and left. When he reached the perimeter of the wall that divided the palace from the forest, he ripped his clothes from off of him and shifted midair into a fierce looking beast: a lycan. He disappeared in a flash as he ran deep into the forest.
In the palace Greta had managed to calm Angela down, assuring her that Zander meant no harm. She told her he was a bit overprotective but she should not worry about it because he but she should not worry about it because he only wanted the best for her, which actually meant that they should start her training if she was to survive against Casper.
"He frustrates me so much," Angela said as she walked with Greta towards her chambers. When they arrived, the first thing she did was to tear open the black envelope that held the card Chadron sent for her.
My beloved,
You are the moon that shines bright & gives my life meaning.
Forever would be void if I didn't have you by my side.
To cherish and love you with all that I am my beloved angel, come to me.
I await you.
Your training is prepared for; you only need to come train with the best before
The challenge!
Sending you my most sincere love, Chadron your beloved!
"What does it say if you don't mind me asking?" Greta asked her.
Without a word she handed her the black card and left to go stand outside at the balcony looking for Mizpah. She found her faithful familiar waiting as though he knew she would need him. She went to him and started patting him on his neck as she talked to him.
I don’t understand these people, neither do I understand what is needed from me yet I feel a weight on my shoulders that cannot be explained, What is this challenge they keep explain talking about?" she asked Mizpah thinking the were alone but someone else was watching and listening behind the shadows. Angela continued to talk to Mizpah, the only friend she felt she could trust fully but unfortunately, he could understand a word she said, or so she thought.
"I hear you, I understand you and you can ask me anything you want,” Mizpah spoke to Angela.
"You can speak? She asked
"Yes, you can hear me because we are bonded”
What the hell…”- Angela swore
"It is impolite to use such word my queen but you were never one to be known for decorum," the beast answered her.
*What do you mean? You are also becoming one of them always talking about becoming one of them always talking about things I know nothing about," she said starting to feel frustrated that she kept missing what everybody was talking about and what they meant.
"You need to remember but you can only do that if the Bennett witch Carita does the unbinding spell which she used to suppress your magic and your other parts," Mizpah said to Angela.
"She is dead," she said in a gloomy tone.
"No, she is alive"
"What? That can't be, that white haired man killed my grandmother and told me so himself, how come you say she is alive? She asked afraid to hope.
"I can sense her magic, it is very strong, and she is not too far from where we are," Mizpah told Angela.
