Chapter 114: Isabella Is Pregnant

When Jasper's call came through, Noah was brewing coffee in the kitchen.

He stared at the name flashing on the screen, tapped his fingers twice on the countertop, and then picked up.

"Noah, what's your decision?" Jasper cut straight to the point.

Noah fell silent for a few seconds.

"I'll divorce Emma," he murmured.

"Then hurry up," Jasper said. "Go do it tomorrow."

"I can't make it tomorrow, Jasper. There's a waiting period for divorces."

"Noah, you should be the one who is in a hurry. Once the Garcia family is destroyed, you'll be next," Jasper said before hanging up.

After the call ended, Noah stood in place, clenching the phone tightly.

Fine.

He tossed his phone onto the sofa, slumped back, and stared blankly at the ceiling.

——

The entire Davis family was gathered at the dinner table.

Noah set down his fork, stood up, and looked toward the head of the table.

"Grandpa," he said. "I have something to announce."

"Go ahead." John lifted his eyelids to glance at him, his hand still slicing steak.

"Emma and I—" Noah paused and turned to look at Emma beside him. "We're getting divorced."

John froze as he furrowed his brow.

Theodore and Luna exchanged a glance.

The others kept their heads down, their ears pricking up.

"What do you think marriage is, Noah?" John asked, setting down his knife and fork.

He lowered his eyelids, picked up his wine glass, and took a sip.

Everyone turned toward Noah.

Noah stood there, his palms sweaty.

Just as he was about to speak, Emma spoke up.

She lifted her head and met John's gaze.

"Grandfather, it's me who wanted the divorce," she said calmly. "I don't love Noah anymore."

Noah stood rooted to the spot, tilting his head to look at her.

John set down his wine glass and glanced at her.

"Dad," Ava finally spoke.

She set down her knife and fork and leaned forward.

"Since they've both made up their minds, why not let them be? You can't bear to see Noah unhappy, can you?" she asked.

Ignoring her, John looked at Noah.

"Do as you please," he said coldly.

Noah stood there, clenching his fingers.

He knew John was even more disappointed in him now.

I don't want it to be this way, but I have no choice.

The Garcia family is pressuring me too much.

"Thanks, Grandpa," he said.

John ignored him, pushed back his chair, and walked out.

Mary set down her napkin and followed.

Everyone dispersed, and only Noah and his family remained in the dining room.

Ava lifted her water glass and took a sip.

"Noah," she said lightly, setting down her glass. "When are you planning to go through with it?"

"Tomorrow," Noah said. "We're filing at the courthouse."

Emma glanced at him sideways.

He seems rather eager about it.

"Mhm." Ava nodded, her smile growing more pronounced.

"Dad, Mom," Noah spoke up. "I have something to tell you."

James and Ava both turned to look at him, a sudden sense of foreboding rising in their hearts.

Noah took a deep breath and said, "Isabella is pregnant."

"What?"

Everyone froze.

Isabella is pregnant?!

"Is it yours?" Ava asked.

"Yes, it was our first time." Noah nodded.

Emma's eyes instantly reddened.

Ava and James's expressions darkened.

They had planned to find Noah a wife from a family with comparable status who could support his career after the divorce.

"The Garcias are forcing me to marry Isabella," Noah added. "If I refuse, they'll tell Grandfather and Theodore that Isabella and I teamed up against Luna."

James and Ava remained silent.

"You can't marry Isabella," Ava said, breaking the silence.

"If you marry her now, your grandfather and Theodore would definitely see that something's off."

"Once they start digging, the things you and Isabella have done will be exposed," she added.

"I don't want to marry her either." Noah frowned. "But the Garcias are forcing me."

"Can't money solve this?" James asked, frowning.

"Doubtful." Noah shook his head. "If it came down to money, the Garcias would demand an astronomical sum."

"But if you marry Isabella, your grandfather—" Ava's brow knitted tightly. "The Garcias did something unforgivable to your uncle, yet you're marrying into their family..."

Noah remained silent.

"If only the entire Garcia family were dead." James's face was grim, and his voice was hushed.

The others froze, staring at him in shock.

"It's too difficult to harm the Garcias," Ava murmured.

"If only we could kill someone from the Garcia family and frame Theodore," James suggested.

Everyone froze.

"Marry Isabella first," James said, then turned to Noah. "What you and Isabella did must never be revealed."

"Let Isabella shoulder all the blame alone," he added, a cold gleam flashing in his eyes.

Noah nodded.

——

Theodore and Luna entered the room.

The door had barely closed when she spoke up. "Why would Noah suddenly want to divorce Emma?"

"What else could it be?" He smiled faintly. "The Garcias forced the marriage by threatening to reveal Isabella's pregnancy."

"Huh?" She froze, staring at him in disbelief.

"You mean... Isabella is marrying Noah?" she asked.

How could that be?

"Yes." He nodded, then scoffed coldly. "Given the Garcia family's current predicament, she has no choice."

"But I won't let them have it so easily," he added.

"You don't want Isabella to marry Noah?" she asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Mhm." He nodded.

"Why? You wouldn't be reluctant, would you?" Luna chuckled.

Theodore glanced at her, arching an eyebrow. "What? You'd like me to be reluctant about Isabella?"

Ignoring his question, she chuckled.

He glanced at her, pulled out his phone, and began tapping the screen.

"What are you doing?" she asked.

"Buying something," he replied without looking up.

"Huh?" She stared at him, utterly confused.
