Chapter 25: Conspicuous

Alex's PoV

Even though I try to remember the past, nothing really enters my mind. And every time I try to remember him, my head suddenly hurts. I left the hospital because I didn't want to stay there longer, I knew that Tar's sister was crying earlier so I stood up suddenly and informed her. I got home in my car, then went straight and slept even though I hadn't eaten yet.

A N O T H E R - D A Y

I woke up early because I also slept early last night, I first cooked what I could eat and then ate after leaving the house. When I arrived, Tar's car was still in the parking lot. I went to my classroom and everyone was so quiet, no one tried to break the silence until our teacher came.

"Mr. Alex, the principal is asking you to go to his office," she said so I stood up and left with my bag. When I arrived, I knocked before I entered his office.

"Yes sir?" I ask in a manner tone.

"This is about the case of Tareon Cyan.. the police only have a few questions for you. Soon they will come here to ask for your part," he said and I went inside.

"Sit there first," he added and I followed what he said. I waited a few more minutes and there was a knock on the door and it opened. I saw these policemen so I stood up and paid my respects to them both.

"Are you Mr. Alex?" he ask when he saw me.

"Yes," was my only answer.

"We only have a few questions about you bringing Mr. Tareon Cyan," he said and something took his bag.

"Sit down," he added and I sat down. He took the empty seat and faced me.

"Before the incident happened, where were you at that time?" his first question, I cleared my throat before answering his question.

"I was inside the campus, I came from the canteen and then I followed Tar and he went near the room where the vacant seat was. We talked politely and then he left me," my answer.

"What's the reason he left you? Did you tell him something he didn't like?" he asked seriously as if it had too much depth which means non.

"Nothing.. I just asked for a banana lumpia from him and he stacked the food on my mouth. After that he left," I replied.

"After that, what did you do?" he asked.

"I waited for him to disappear from my sight, then I followed him," my voice went slowly to hear as I answered that.

"What happened?" he asked and wrote on his paper.

"That's it.. I saw a man in a black jacket running away from Tar's body on the ground," I replied and just looked into his eyes.

"Then you took him to the hospital? Here?" he asked.

"Yes," I replied and he hadn't spoken yet and instead he was writing something. He stood up then took a second sip.

"Thank you so much for your cooperation Mr. Alex, we will contact this school as soon as we find out who did this to your boyfriend," he said and I was even more surprised by it.

"W-what? Boyfriend? He's not my boyfriend.. he's just my schoolmate," I explained and he laughed.

"Is that so? I'm sorry," he said and put the paper he had taken earlier in his bag.

"Mr. Cruz," he called to the principal.

"Thank you for your cooperation, expect us to call you as soon as we find any evidence," he said and they left.

"Mr. Alex you may leave now. Thank you so much for your cooperation," he said and patted my shoulder.

"All right sir, I'll be going now," I said and left the office. When I got to the classroom my teacher just nodded which meant she was letting me in. I didn't speak anymore and just went in and sat in my chair. I just listened to her discussion until the next teacher came, everyone was very quiet and even the teacher made me feel awkward. He just taught but nothing seemed to enter my brain because it was so busy.

"Boyfriend?!" I asked in my mind.

"Hayst," I sighed softly and forced my attention to focus on the instructor now.

"Your mom? Do you remember her?"

"Then you must remembered about me too?" my head suddenly ached when I remembered what she said. I tried to calm myself, I took a deep breath until my breathing slowly going back to normal. The class ended without any noise then I went to the canteen to eat lunch.

"Your mom? Do you remember her?"

"Then you must remembered about me too?" I was still very close to the iron pole because I felt dizzy.

"Can I ask mama?" I asked in my mind so I quickly took my cellphone from my pocket and called her number but no one answered. She was still at work these hours, I put my cellphone back in my pocket and then went straight to the line. I just bought what I found and then looked for a seat. I didn't feel like eating so I didn't finish what I was eating, I took my cellphone and called my mom again. The second time she answered it.

"Hello son? How are you? Why did you called?" she asked.

"Mom..," I interrupted what I was about to say.

"Oh what is it?" she asked worriedly.

"Do you know the name Melody Cyan?" I asked and it was a while before she spoke.

"Ha? Melody Cyan? I don't know such a name," she hesitantly replied. I don't quite believe my Mom now but I just didn't show it.

"Why son? Did something happen?" she added.

"N-no, that's no it. Nothing happened," I said and gulped down a spoonful of food.

"I'm going to off it dear, okay? I'm still doing something," she said and I swallowed what I was eating before I answered.

"All right Mom.. be careful there. I love you Mom," I just said and she didn't speak anymore but she off it right away.

"It's weird and that's how she behaves?" I just asked, I just ate what I was eating and then left that place. I just went back inside the classroom because I had nothing else to do.

"What can I do to help with the investigation?" I just mentioned. I also bowed my head and blocked my arm to serve as a pillow.

"Hey Alex," someone called my name so I lifted my head.

"Hmm?" I asked when I saw it was Harold.

"You alright?" he asked worriedly.

"Of course.. is there .. something wrong with me?" I suddenly asked.

"Nothing.. we're just worried about you because you might be the one to blame for beating Tar," he said really worried.

"Huh? How can you say that?" I still wonder the question.

"Because your part is unbelievable," he said and I thought about it.

"Hmmm, okay. Don't worry too much.. we believe what you're saying is true," he said and left in front of me. I just resumed the nap I had interrupted earlier.
