Chapter 61
Will's POV
For the last two week I have made the effort to get to know Nico and come to find out he's exactly what I didn't want around her. He's wild and untamed with no sense of boundaries toward anyone. The elves have stayed way from him only answering when he speaks to them. They spoke in there own language and I knew some of what they were saying, but I kept that part to myself. Kai was love struck by this guy and he used every opportunity he could to keep her that way. I haven't had a moment alone with her and its driving me crazy.
She was my mate first and I understand that his family saved her, but that doesn't mean he get to monopolize all her time. He steps in to close when Anya and her are discussing something as if his voice matters right now. Kai at some point today I need to speak with you alone with out your shadow present, please. I mind linked her hoping she would understand. She turned to me and nodded then fell into step with me reaching for my hand.
I'm sorry I haven't talked with you. Or spent time with you, but we'll go for a walk together tonight yes? She smiled at me as she responded. Yes I would like that. I said feeling more secure with her next to me. Hunter settled down as well having our mate close and holding on to us. Nico was on the other side of her simply walking in animal form which he preferred. He was very alert for some reason which then set me on edge. Kai gripped my arm sensing the tension build up in the air.
Someones tracking us. Who? Is this one of the problems dad mentioned? Kai asked me while staying in character. She looked about the area as the others did, but her eyes were glowing as she searched for the source. Letting the power the goddess gave me out a bit my senses picked up the scent of spell cast. The waves in the air were colorful and bright, but a stronger thread lead to the source. There, to the East almost back the direction we came. What is that? I asked her trying to figure out what could be causing it.
The witches that had me may be trying to confuse us. They liked having me as there personal assassin, but I ran away breaking a spell that not just anyone could break. They have to be desperate to find me if they cast something this big and over a great distance. I responded to him confused and concerned that they would cause more problems then good. The others stopped just on top of the mountain ridge that gave a breathtaking view of the Royal City. While a gorgeous view we seen smoke trailing up from two parts of town one right in front to the mansion.
We shifted seeing this running full on down the mountain trying to get back faster then we ever had before. The foot steps of the others faded as we moved faster and faster toward the mansion. Leaping over boulders then running down the streets of the city seeing the damage that had been done. What the f*ck happened? I thought to myself as we slowed own getting closer to the gate. Warriors were guarding the front as if it was to be invaded, Will and I shifted back clothing ourselves as changed.
“What happened here? Who attacked us?” Will asked his Gamma Thia who was in front of everyone. “My King and Queen thank the goddess for your return. We have been facing untold enemies for the last two weeks, your highness. We have a high ranking witch in custody too and you won't believe who it is. Also your sister Lysa has been found as she came storming in like she always does. You'll have to talk with her she won't talk with anyone else,” Thia explained. “No wonder father wanted us back. Thank you for the report we'll be heading up to the house. A group of elves and a jaguarman are on there way here, please see that they are taken care of. The elves will probably need provisions and an appointment time, and the jaguarman, he'll probably stay in Kai's observatory most of the time so have a room close to it aired out for him.” I said to Thia who took care of my orders right away.
Kai walked up to me reaching for my hand saying, “There's more to this then we know lets go talk to mom and dad. Hopefully its not as bad as we think.” I nodded as we walked up the drive to the front door letting ourselves in then making our way to fathers office. My beta Jace caught site of us and run up to us before we could enter his office, “We need to talk now” he said sternly pushing us toward his office first.
Closing the door then locking it he turns around saying, “There's a lot happening. Some of the business's that have been in contract with us are pulling out and paying the penalty fees. Also almost ever Clan in the world is sending in marriage offers for the queen . I'm telling you this now so when you walk in there your father doesn't lie to you,” he said in a very rushed sentences. “Why would he lie about any of that?” Kai asked him.
“He knows you have a lot to deal with and he doesn't see this as a serious threat, but a vamp just stormed the gate trying to kidnap your sister and her best friend who by the way is a WITCH!” He said exasperated. The shock of the events just told is so staggering I find myself needing to sit down. “6 months with you gone and this is what happens? F*ck! How did everyone find out about the queen? How the hell was a witch able to keep herself hidden under such supposed tight security? And who is this vampire trying to steal citizens out of my city?”
“That's what I was going to tell you before this one took you into his office before I could speak with you,” father said at the door a key hanging in the lock.
