Chapter 27
★★★ 2 WEEKS LATER★★★
Everything has been going smoothly and roughly for the past Weeks. Jessica has been working hard at her new job, and she's actually starting to enjoy it. She's helping people and making a difference, and it's giving her a sense of purpose. However, the tension at home is still weighing on her mind. Meanwhile, Samantha has been enjoying the attention from Davis, and she's starting to feel hopeful that she might be able to win him back.
Over the past few days, things start to get even more complicated. Samantha and Davis are spending more and more time together, and Jessica is starting to feel even more isolated and alone. Meanwhile, Samantha's plan in motion, things are about to get even more complicated. She starts to act more and more hostile towards Jessica, making it clear that she's not welcome in the house. Jessica is feeling more and more trapped, and she's starting to feel like she has no way out. At the same time, Davis is starting to notice the tension between the two women, and he's feeling torn. He doesn't want to choose sides, but he also doesn't know how to handle the situation.
During that time, Davis offered to take Jessica to work a million times but will always reject his offer, saying that she can manage herself well.
Jessica is determined to make her own way to work. She doesn't want to be indebted to Davis, and she's still feeling a bit bitter about the way he's been treating Samantha. As she's getting ready, she hears a knock at the door. When she opens it, she sees Davis standing there. He looks a little sheepish, and he said,
"I know you said you didn't want me to drive you to work, but I wanted to make sure you were okay".
" Am fine" she replied, As she heads out of the room, she does indeed run into Samantha. Samantha gives her a look of pure disdain, but Jessica refuses to let it get to her. She grabs her things and heads out the front door. But just as she's about to step onto the sidewalk, she hears a voice behind her.
"Hey, wait a minute!" It's Davis, and he looks like he's about to say something important.
"I know we've had our differences, but I just want to say that I'm sorry for the way I've been acting. I know I've been unfair to you, and I want to make it right" He said.
Jessica is taken aback by his apology, and she's not sure how to respond. But then Davis continues,
"I know this is probably not the best way to ask, but would you consider giving me another chance? I promise I'll do better this time". She glance at Samantha who was standing up stairs, Samantha glares at her, Jessica gives her a small smile. It's not a kind smile, but it's not a mean one either. It's a smile that says,
'I'm not going to let you get to me'. Then she turns and rushes out the door. She's relieved to be out of the house and away from all the drama. As she's walking down the street, she feels a sense of freedom. She knows that she's finally in control of her own destiny.
As She is waiting on the corner for a cab, a car slowly pulls up next to her. The window rolls down, and a man's voice said,
"Excuse me, miss, can you help me with directions?" Before Jessica can answer, the door opens and two men grab her and force her into the car. She tries to fight them off, but she's no match for their strength. The next thing she knows, she's tied up in the back of the car, and they're driving away from the city. The car eventually comes to a stop, and Jessica is dragged out of the car and into a building. She's brought into a place.
The men remove the blindfold, and Jessica blinks a few times as her eyes adjust to the light. She looks around the room and sees that it's a very plain room, with nothing in it except for a chair and a table. The men leave the room, and a few minutes later, another man walks in. He's tall and well-dressed but he had a black mask on making it impossible to see his face, and he exudes an air of power.
" My love is finally here with me" he said, Jessica can't quite place the man's voice, but it's definitely familiar. She feels a chill run down her spine, as she tries to remember where she's heard it before. The man is silent for a moment, and then he said something crazy that made Jessica's face turn pale.
"I have loved you for so long, but I had to wait until you were ready to be mine," the man said. "I knew that you and Carlos were never meant to be. He was only a distraction, and you were meant for me. But now that he's out of the way, we can finally be together". Jessica is horrified by the man's words. He's clearly delusional, and she has no idea what to do. She's starting to panic, and she's wondering if she'll ever be able to escape from this nightmare.
"So, tell me, why did you marry Davis after Carlos cheated on you with Veronica?" the man asked.
"Did you think that Davis was a better man than Carlos? Or was it simply a matter of convenience?" He's looking at her expectantly, and she can tell that he really wants to hear her answer. But she's not sure what to say. She's still in a state of shock, and she can't seem to think straight.
The man studies her face carefully, trying to gauge her reaction.
"You seem unsure of what to say, I can see that you're still trying to process all of this information. But I need an answer, so please try to focus and give me one" he said impatiently. He's being very patient with her, but she can tell that his patience is wearing thin.
"Who are you?" she asked, with a shakey voice as tears clouded her eyes.
"And how do you know so much about my personal life? I've never seen you before" The man simply smiled.
"All in good time, my dear. Right now, I just want you to answer my question. Why did you marry Davis after Carlos cheated on you?" He's obviously not going to reveal his identity until she answers him.
"I love Davis!" she said more like a whisper. The man's face instantly turns red with rage, and he slaps her across the face.
"How dare you say that!" he yelled.
"You were meant to love only me! You don't get to love anyone else!" Tears are streaming down her face, and she's trying to pull away from him, but he's holding her tightly.
"Please, please stop crying," he said pleading to her now.
"I don't want to see you cry"
"Please let me go," she said, breakingly.
"I just want to go home. Please, I'll do anything you want, just let me go." But the man doesn't seem to hear her.
"Why are you crying?" he asked, his voice full of anguish.
"Please, you have to stop. I don't want to see you like this." He's clearly in a state of emotional turmoil, and he doesn't seem to know what to do.
" I just want to go home please" she pleaded crying heavier.
The man's eyes narrow, and his voice low and menacing.
"You're not going anywhere," he said. "You belong to me now, and you're never leaving this place. Do you understand?" She nods, too terrified to speak. The man studies her face for a moment, then seems to realize that he's gone too far. He takes a deep breath and steps back, releasing his grip on her.
"I'm sorry," he apologized
"I didn't mean to frighten you. I just... I just want you to understand that you're not going anywhere" saying that he walked out the room.
She collapses onto the floor, sobbing uncontrollably. As she looks at her hands, she sees the imprint of his fingers on her skin. It's a reminder of how trapped she is, and it only makes her cry harder. She feels hopeless and alone, with no way to escape. After what feels like an eternity, the door opens again. The man walks back into the room, carrying a tray with food and water on it.
"I brought you something to eat and drink, I know you must be hungry" he said and dropped the tray on the floor. She can't bring herself to look at him, so she keeps her eyes downcast.
"Please eat. You need your strength" The sound of his voice was domineering and scary, and she slowly picks up the food and takes a bite.
★★★ MERCYLAND HOTEL★★★
Davis has been on system every since he walked into his office in the morning. As he was working, he got a call in his cell phone. It's from Andy.
" What's up buddy?" He asked as soon as he picked up.
" Fine. Just called to know the reason why Sister-in-law isn't at work today?" Andy asked. Davis stopped working as soon as he hears that.
" What do you mean by that? She left this morning fully dressed" he said looking horrified.
" Well she isn't in the office today" Andy as further, Davis ended the call before Andy could talk further.
What the hell? How is possible that she isn't in the office? In other to confirm his suspicion, he ran out of the office, ignoring everything his workers were whispering about him.
As Davis arrives home, he enters the front door and calls out her name
"Jessica? Are you here?" There's no answer. He walks through the house, searching for any sign of her. But she's nowhere to be found. Samantha came out of her room, hearing the noise.
" What happened?" She asked trying to play cool as always.
" Jessica is missing" he said pulling out his phone. A smile flashed her face for a second but covered with sadness. Though her face is sad but her heart is very happy.
" I hope you find her soon" she said, sneering in her heart.
Davis picked up his phone and dialed Sam's number. Sam has private investigator for a long time now. When he answered, Davis blurted out,
"I need your help! Jessica's gone missing and I can't find her anywhere." There was a pause on the other end of the line, then Sam said,
"What do you mean, she's missing? Did something happen? Are you sure she didn't just go out for a while?"
Davis took a deep breath. "I'm sure. She left for work since morning and hasn't returned home but still she didn't report at the office, and she never left without telling me" he explained walking out of the house to his car.
Back at the house, Samantha was giddy with excitement. She had been planning this moment for a long time, and now it was finally happening. She couldn't help but smile as she looked around the house, imagining what it would be like when it was all hers.
