Chapter 14
Enzo walked into the office with a stoney face and met his boss waiting for him.
" You called for me?" He bowed slightly.
" Reports?" Davis said ignoring his questions.
" According to my findings, Samantha made a call to her through an anonymous sim card, her voice was dictated but that of her father's was difficult to dictate. And according to her plan, child services will be visiting you guys soon. She did it so that you can give her a place and the house for her to stay" Enzo explained dropping some documents on his table.
" Ruin all their plans, and find who her father is" He said as he walked away from the office.
★★★★ UNKNOWN PLACE ★★★★
The man sat alone in the dark room, the only light coming from the small lamp on the desk in front of him. On the desk was a single photograph, the only decoration in the otherwise bare room. The photograph was of a woman ....... Jessica Winters, and the man stared at it intently, his eyes never leaving the image. His face was hidden in shadows, but his eyes were the only part of him that was visible. They were cold and hard, like chips of ice. But as he looked at the photograph, there was something else in them - something that couldn't be named.
The man continued to stare at the photograph, lost in his own thoughts. He had found the photograph by chance, and it had sparked something inside him. He didn't know what it was, but it was a feeling he had never experienced before. He had become obsessed with the woman in the photograph, trying to learn everything he could about her. He had tracked down her family, her friends, anyone who knew anything about her. But still, he felt like there was something missing. Something he couldn't quite put his finger on.
The man was broken out of his reverie by the sound of the door opening. He looked up, and saw one of his subordinates standing in the doorway. The man was tall and imposing, and he held himself with an air of authority.
"Sir, there's something you need to see," he said, his voice grave. The man in the chair nodded, and the subordinate handed him a file. He opened it, and his eyes widened as he saw the contents. The file was full of photographs, and they all showed the same thing- Jessica is still missing.
The man in the dark room stared at the photograph once again. He had followed her case closely, and he knew that she had disappeared on the day of her wedding. There had been no sign of her since then, and no clues as to her whereabouts. But the man had a feeling, a gut instinct, that she was still alive. And he was determined to find her, no matter what it took. He was not going to let her slip through his fingers again. He was going to make sure she paid for stealing his heart.
"I want you to find her," the man said, with low and dangerous voice. "And when you do, I want you to bring her to me. Alive."
The subordinate nodded, his expression unreadable. "I'll do whatever it takes. You have my word" the subordinate replied.
The man smiled, and for a moment, it was almost a pleasant expression. But then it turned into something much darker.
"Good, because if you fail, I'll make you suffer like you've never imagined" he threatened. His subordinate bowed and walked out of the room in fear then he turned to the portrait as if it could hear him.
"You have no idea what you've done to me, you took my heart, and you just threw it away like it was nothing. I've never felt this way about anyone before, and I don't know what to do with these feelings" he said with his voice shaking with emotions. He looked at the portrait, as if he was expecting a response.
"I was going to give you everything," he continued, his voice growing hoarse. "I would have given you the world, if you had just asked. But you didn't. You just left without getting to know me, first was your fiancee and now you're no where to be found. Please come back to me" he muttered, kissing the portrait imagining it to be Jessica.
★★★★ SAMANTHA'S APARTMENT ★★★★
Samantha has been patiently waiting for a call from her father to give her a Go-Ahead order to visit Davis. She was still pestering around untill her phone rang.
" Hello Dad" She answered with a smile, waiting for the good news.
" It seems like Davis is not an easy man to bully. He ruined my plans before it could begin, so I advise you to quit looking for him and find someone else who will look after you and cherish you for who you are" her father advised. Her face turned pale and red with anger. How dare he?
" Okay Dad. I will do it" she said and ended the call before he could speak further. Her anger skyrocked, How dare he? How can he know what she's about to do? Is he spying on her? She gasped at her own thoughts.
★★★★ DAVIS'S MANSION ★★★★
Jessica stood at the window, gazing out into the darkness. She had been waiting for hours, but there was still no sign of Davis. She knew it was late, but she couldn't bring herself to go to bed. Not without knowing if he was okay. She had put Robin to bed hours ago, but she couldn't sleep herself. She had to know what had happened to him and why he ran out in a rush.
As the minutes ticked by, Jessica's worry began to turn to fear. What if something had happened to Davis? What if he was in trouble, and she couldn't help him? Her mind raced with possibilities, and she couldn't stand the not knowing any longer. She pulled out her phone to make a call when a call came in. Her mind relaxed when she saw the caller id................ Davis.
