Chapter 13

★★★ SAMANTHA APARTMENT★★★

Samantha stood inside her house, fuming. She couldn't believe he had thrown her out! She knew she couldn't just leave things like this. She had to come up with a plan to get back into his good graces. She started pacing, thinking hard. Suddenly, she had an idea. She pulled out her phone and dialed a number.

"Hello, Dad? I need your help with something." She said.

Samantha's father, answered the phone, his voice heavy with sleep.

"What's going on?" he asked, sounding concerned. Samantha launched into her story, telling her father everything that had happened. She explained how Davis had thrown her out, and how much she needed to make things right. He listened intently, then said,

"I'm going to come over there right now and help you sort this out." Samantha felt a wave of relief wash over her. She knew her father would know what to do. But on a second thought she declined.

"Dad, don't come, He's married now. I don't want you to get in the middle of this. Please, just trust me. I can handle this with a little help from you" She said.

Her father hesitated, then said, "All right, I'll trust you. But I'm here if you need me. Just tell me what you want me to do?"

Samantha nodded, even though he couldn't see her.

" I need you to call child support. Threaten to take his son away from him if he doesn't let me stay with them" She smirked, knowing that her father can't refuse her.

" Consider it done" he said.

"Thank you, Dad. I love you." Then she hung up the phone and set her mind to her next task.

" Await my arrival Davis" She giggles, running into her room.

★★★ DAVIS'S MANSION★★★

Davis was hunched over his desk, his eyes focused on the computer screen in front of him. He was so absorbed in his work that he didn't hear the door open. But then he smelled the aroma of freshly brewed coffee, and he looked up, blinking in surprise. Jessica stood in the doorway, a steaming cup of coffee in her hand.

"I thought you could use a break," she said, with a smile. Davis's expression softened, and he smiled back.

"You're a lifesaver," he said, taking the cup from her.

Davis took a sip of the coffee, savoring the rich, bold flavor. He leaned back in his chair, letting the warmth of the cup seep into his hands.

"Thank you," he said again, his voice sincere. Jessica leaned against the doorframe, her eyes on him.

"It's no problem, I know how much you love your work, but you have to take breaks, too" she said. Davis looked up at her, his eyes meeting hers.

"You're right, I appreciate you reminding me" he said.

Jessica was almost out the door when something occurred to her. She turned back to face Davis, a determined look on her face.

"I've been thinking," she started. "I'm tired of just being a stay-at-home mom. I want to do something with my life, something more than taking care of the house and the kid." Davis's eyebrows shot up, and he looked at her in surprise.

"What do you have in mind?" he asked.

Jessica looked Davis in the eye, her was expression serious. "I've decided that I want to go back to work," she announced. "I'm not happy just being a stay-at-home mom anymore. I need to do something more, something that will challenge me and make me feel like I'm making a difference in the world." Davis took a deep breath, trying to process what she was saying.

"I understand how you feel. But are you sure this is what you want? Are you prepared for the sacrifices it will take?" He asked.

Jessica nodded, her eyes shining with determination. "I know it won't be easy. I know I'll have to make some sacrifices. But I'm willing to do that if it means I can have a career that I'm passionate about." She paused, taking a breath. "I know this will be a big change for our family, and I want to make sure you're okay with it. I know it means you'll have to take on more responsibilities at home."

Davis's face softened, and he reached out to take her hand.

"I'm with you," he said.

Davis looked into Jessica's eyes, his hand still holding hers.

"If you're serious about this, I want to support you. But I need to understand what kind of career you're looking for. What's your dream job?" Jessica thought for a moment, then spoke.

"I want to work in the medical field, I've always been interested in medicine, and I think it's something I'd be good at. I want to be a nurse." She said while Davis nodded, considering her words.

"Nursing is a great profession," he said.

Just as Jessica and Davis were finishing their conversation, his phone rang. He glanced at the screen and saw that it was his assistant.

"I need to take this," he said, stepping away from Jessica to answer the call.

"Hello?" he answered, listening as his assistant told him about a potential threat to his company. He listened intently, his brow furrowing as he absorbed the news. He hung up the phone and turned back to Jessica, his expression was grim.

"I'm sorry, but I have to go. I'll be back as soon as I can" he said. Davis hurried out the door, his mind was racing as he tried to process what his assistant had told him. He knew he had to get to the office as soon as possible, to deal with the situation before it got out of control. He quickly started his car and pulled out of the driveway, not even noticing that Jessica was watching him from the window. As he drove away, she felt a pang of worry. She hoped that everything would be okay.

Back at the office, Davis strode through the front door, his expression stern. He walked past the receptionist and headed straight for his office, his mind racing. He sat down at his desk, his hands shaking slightly as he reached for the phone. He dialed a number and waited, trying to stay calm.

"Hello?" said a voice on the other end of the line.

"I need you to meet me in my office right away. It's urgent" he said and hung up.
