Chapter 126

It had been two days. It had only taken two, fleeting days of pure blissful abandon with Avril for Thomas to be ready to revisit the discussion on the direction of their relationship. Proceeding with caution since they’d reconnected had been nothing short of torture. And he was a man that knew a thing or two of torture, having his fair share inflicted on him numerous times. None of it compared to the staggering anxiety showering his thoughts whenever he was reminded that his relationship with Avril was yet to be official. Filling her with every drop of him in the past two days, having her dozing off in him arms from exhaustion countless times was not enough to secure his emotions. Not when they were operating on an unofficial status. She was his. His alone. It was not enough for him to know that, acknowledgment was his desire and he was itching to hear the confirmation pass her lips.

His ears filled with hush of water as he splashed his face in the adjoining bathroom. Avril had fallen asleep and he’d taken the opportunity to shave, he’d been neglecting his appearance lately. He also thought that she’d be surprised or excited to see him cleaned up. Pat drying his face and hands he dropped the towel into the basket at his feet and ventured back into the bedroom. A rush of indiscernible sound surrounded his ears and momentarily disabling his senses. Looking to the bed, Avril was no longer curled up, knees to chest as he’d left her.

Instead, she was lying on her stomach, her claves bending back at the knees, her ankles hooked on each other as if magnetically attracted as they dangled over her bare ass. A perfectly raised mound leading upwards to a dip in her back. His eyes moved along the shape of her as she giggled. Her elbows pressed into the mattress, her fingers gripping her phone. Perfectly oblivious to him admiring the view she crafted with her naked body.

Lightly, he closed the distance, “What are you watching?” he dipped down on the bed, sitting close to her upper body, leaning down simultaneously to shift her hair off her shoulders, pressing a kiss into her. The phone dropped from her hands, forgotten. Leaning into his touch, Avril rotated until she lay on her side, her hand immediately going to touch his face, her eyes alight with unbidden fascination.

“Is this why I woke up alone?” She ran her fingers along his jaw. Thomas was a man that no woman could dare overlook and while she had no complaints about his appearance, something about him leaning over her clean shaven was…gratifying. “Was this an attempt to impress me?”

“It depends,” he sucked her thumb into his mouth as her finger traced his lip. The sensation creating a direct pathway to her stomach where heat pooled. “did it work?” he reached out to tug lightly at her nipples. She was on full display for him and despite enjoying her countless times since they reconnected, he was still hungry for her. He was insatiable and she was to blame. Avril incited this primal hungry that was in curable, but Thomas had no need to complain. There were worst illnesses to be afflicted by.

Avril cocked her head to side and let out a low grumble as if she were truly considering his question. “I secretly followed you to another country for a getaway, do you really think I need further impressing?” she teased, remembering that she hadn’t thought twice, now that her exams were over, whether to accept his invitation for a mini getaway. Just the two of them and Avril had told no one except her best friend. He’d taken her to a neighbouring Caribbean island. It was all sand, sun and fun. Two days in and the only fun they had was with each other. Now that she thought of it, they hadn’t left their room for more than an hour today.

“I don’t consider you quite impressed by me at all,” Avril had subconsciously rolled to her back, her body reacting to Thomas’ slightest touch, making room for him to pay attention to all of her. As if on cue, his other hand hooked on her hip, rubbing circles into the crease of her hips.

“What’s the root of your uncertainty?’ she cleared her throat, forcing her brain to focus on what he was trying to say to her.

“your hesitance to be mine.” He answered, his eyes fixated on her ample breasts perking up for him, her back arching almost unnoticeably.

A wide smile indented her lips, “Isn’t it obvious that there is absolutely no hesitance?” she motioned at him twirling the bud of her breast between his fingers with her eyes. “you’ve been the only man to ever claim me, I don’t understand the confusion. I was yours the moment you barged into that room at the Lynne House two years ago,” she chuckled, wondering how time had gone by so quickly and she couldn’t be more grateful. There were times she’d lie in bed wondering if she’d ever lay eyes on Thomas again. Her heart rate would sometimes slow, putting her in a state of complete self-awareness. Not having him had been torture, well, as close to it that she’d ever come.

He listened to sound of her voice soothing him, her words adding power and reassurance and yet, he couldn’t move on without saying, “Then are we ready to be private but not secret?” his eyes met hers and she furrowed her brows.

“I hadn’t known we were a secret.” She responded casually, although now that she thought about it no one knew about them. No one other than their inner circle and for Avril, her inner circle consisted of one person. As if reading her mind, Thomas smirked.

“Do I have to wait longer?” he prompted her and she inhaled.

“No,” she answered honestly. She was ready for everyone to know that she was taken. Hell, she’d denied an advance days ago by saying she was seeing someone. There wasn’t anyone else she wanted and she didn’t plan on looking. No one had caught her eye or attention since Thomas weaselled his way into her mind and heart.

Her concerns about communication and how it would fare was being addressed. Thomas had grown a lot and she wasn’t blind to it. There was nothing holding them back. Her past wounds had healed and all that remained was bristling love and adoration. “Not a second longer.” She breathed, cupping either sides of his face and he lowered himself to attach his lips to hers in a soft, lingering kiss.

“Those words were the second best sound to be coated with your voice,” he whispered against her lips and she gave him a quizzical laugh, “I’m about to draw the first best sound out by fucking you into your next nap,” he buried his face in her neck, his hand at her hips trailing to her moist centre and he plunged his fingers in. Avril bit down on her lower lip, anchoring her head back to allow him more access. Her legs inching open with every plunge his fingers made.

“Fuck me,” Thomas growled in unison to Avril gasping at the noise of his cell phone buzzing a top the bedside table. He reached for it, still working on her, his intention to switch off his cell phone but the caller ID caught both him and Avril’s attention.

“You should answer it,” she sat up in bed, it was Catherine calling at 10pm. Thomas didn’t consider whether to heed Avril, he answered the call, praying that everyone was safe. He was still a bit shaken after the attempt on Skylar and the loss of what would have been his niece or nephew.

He listened to Catherine’s voice on the phone. She’d spoke for fifteen minutes, asking him questions about things he hadn’t even considered. Once the call was over he brought the cell phone slowly off his ear. Avril draped her arms around his neck, her breasts pressed against his back.

“Is there an emergency?” She’d been pretending to be preoccupied the entire time by scrolling through her cell phone, giving him a semblance of privacy despite him sitting in the edge of the bed and her lying down in the centre of it. But her mind was buzzing with curiosity the moment his tone turned sombre and strict.

Grabbed hold of her arms dangling over his chest with one of his hands, he dropped the cell phone on the bed beside him.

“Skylar apparently left home and the suspicion is that she and Austin had a disagreement. Catherine wondered if I had any information since Skylar may confide in her if anything were to happen.” He shook his head, attempting to wrap his head around the information.

Avril removed her arms from around him, jumping off the bed and presented herself before him. “We should go back home,” she said to him.

Thomas rubbed at his face, missing his beard for the first time since he shaved it off. “We came here to focus on us, I don’t want to disappoint you.” He responded.

Avril smiled, “Two days in and we are officially in a relationship. I’d call that a success for our mini getaway. Mission accomplished. Besides, the two people you care the most about are going through some stuff. I know you want to get involved.” She stroked his hair, the look in his eyes confirming she was right.
