Chapter 47 I miss this

Chapter 47 I miss this

KAITLYN

My body stirs when he presses his lips against mine.

My heartbeats increase, and without thinking twice, I fling my hands around his neck and part his lips with my tongue, kissing him softly.

He pushes me back gently, and my back slams on the door behind me. My hands move around his chest, caressing his skin with my fingertips.

I miss this so much…the taste of his lips, the feeling I always get when he has his lips against mine, the raspy breathing between us, and the soft, gentle grip he always has on me, something Nikolai could never do.

After what seems like a blissful eternity, Jesse breaks the kiss and stares at me, his eyes narrowing over my body with so much passion in them.

“He didn't hurt you, did he?” He asks, while catching his breath.

I sigh loudly and shake my head.

“I thought he was going to hurt you. It's so good to see you alive,” I mutter.

The smile on Jesse's face falls. He sighs again and turns around, his eyes traveling to the bed.

I follow his gaze and finally catch sight of the man lying on the bed with several bandages on his body.

“His boss died,” Jesse says, and my gaze returns to his face.

He turns to look at me again, anger flashing across his eyes.

“He was supposed to be the new director. I'm sure Nikolai did it,” he spits out.

I stiffen and look down, filled with guilt and anger.

“Hey…” Jesse calls, sweeping his hand over my hair.

“You don't have to feel guilty for him. He doesn't deserve any atom of pity from you,” Jesse says.

I gulp hard, trying so hard to suppress the pain and stop the tears from flowing into my eyes.

“I know Jesse, but…”

“But what?” He asks.

The smile on his face is gone, and worry is settling into his eyes, replacing the passion that was once in them.

“About us,” I blurt out.

"I don't care," He snaps, and a shiver runs down my spine at his words.

“I don't care if he's married to you or not…” Jesse grips my wrist and pulls me closer.

“You belong to me, and he's never going to stop what we share for each other. Never,” Jesse smiles, his voice softening.

The fear of Nikolai hurting Jesse fills my heart. I can't let him do anything rash now. If Nikolai finds out about this, he's definitely going to kill him for sure.

If he can cruelly kill a director who has done nothing to him, then he's likely to kill Jessie, too, if he finds out about our meeting.

I glance at the wall clock in the room and feel my chest tighten.

I need to get going before he gets informed.

“Jessie–”

I’ll get you a cup of coffee,” Jessie interrupts.

I part my lips to protest, but he raises his hand and places his finger on my lips, shaking his head with a smile.

“Don't say anything because I won't listen,” He says, and my shoulders drop in defeat.

“Come sit. You look like a mess,” He mutters, and my belly flutters.

Jessie chuckles loudly and wraps his arm around me, then leads me to a chair in the room.

He pulls out his phone and dials his manager's number, then requests a coffee to be brought to the room before sitting down beside me.

“Jesse, you should be careful. Nikolai is dangerous," I mutter.

Jesse stares into my eyes as he rubs his thumb against my fist.

“I know my brother can be a monster, but he won't hurt me. I'm just worried about you living with him.”

“Don't worry about me,” I reply and place my hand on his cheek.

“You should worry more about yourself, Jesse. I'm scared for you,” I whisper.

Jesse sighs and leans back.

“Don't worry about me. He won't hurt me, not when my father is still alive,” he continues to protest.

I groan loudly and throw my head back at his stubborn behavior.

Why won't he just listen to me and stay clear of him?

"You need to understand that he cannot be trusted. He can hurt you without thinking twice. He told me he would kill you!” I scream out, ruffling my hair in anger.

Jesse's eyes go wide in shock at my outburst.

“He said that?”

“Yes, he did, and I know he can carry out that threat. I've seen him kill people, Jesse. I've seen him do horrible things. He kills them and displays their body like some prize he won. He's a monster!” I cry out.

Jesse sighs and rubs his hands over his face.

My eyes dim in confusion as I stare at him. He didn't seem to be surprised.

“Do you know about this?” I ask.

“I've always known. That's why my family has always hidden his identity from the public, and now that people already know about it, my father's business is crumbling,” he mutters, and I feel my heart clench at his words.

Jesse takes a sharp breath, anger and pain bouncing in his eyes.

"And now that the upcoming director is dead, I doubt if there's anything left for us to do.”

I gulp and sink my teeth into my lips, anger burning in me.

“Mr. Gonzalez was one of the people holding the company in place, and with his murder over the place, a lot of the shareholders are already pulling out. The stocks are plummeting, and if time is not taken, the company might go bankrupt,” he adds and drops his head in despair.

“I'm sorry, Jesse. This is all my fault,” I whisper in a quivering voice. I am at the edge of breaking into tears, and I doubt if I'll be able to hold it in any longer.

“No, don't be. I blame myself for dragging you into this mess anyway. If he hadn't existed, no one would have stopped our wedding, you would have been the happiest bride alive,” he whispers.

“Jesse, it's all my fault. If I had stopped that witch in time–” I pause and burst into tears.

Jesse growls in anger, then draws closer and wraps his hands around me.

“Shh, don't cry, princess. Don't cry,” he whispers and kisses my forehead, then begins to rock me gently.

“He hasn't touched me yet,” I blurt out when I relax.

I feel Jesse stiffen when those words left my lips.

“I hope he never does until I'm able to expose him and get you out of there,” he blurts out.

“What if he does?” I blurt out before I can stop myself.

Jesse lets go of me, then draws back.

My heart skips a beat, and regret begins to slip in.

Why the fuck did I have to say that now?

“I'll kill him and still take you back, “ Jesse replies.

My heart warms at his response, and my lips stretch into a smile. I pull close to him and clasp my hands around his neck, then claim his lips in a fierce kiss.

Jesse grabs my waist and pulls me so close that there is no space left between us.

“I want you,” he breaks the kiss and whispers.

I take a sharp breath and lean in again, smashing my lips on his. The kiss is enough to give him an answer.

He responds immediately and sticks his tongue into my mouth, flicking it around the corners of my mouth while sucking on my lower lip like his life depends on it.

His hand slips into my nightwear and tugs on the straps of my lingerie. My hands reach for the belt strapped around his waist, and I begin to unbuckle it.

My heart is beating so loud and fast that I fear it will burst.

I can't stop my hands from seeking places that I'm not supposed to seek at the moment. This is crazy, but I don't care.

Fuck Nikolai, fuck his rules, fuck that fake marriage, all I want is Jesse.

My body gets hotter as we explore each other's mouths, letting the taste of our mouths mingle together.

I moan into his mouth and raise my legs, giving him access to explore the flesh between my thighs.

Just when he is about to slip his finger into my thighs, a push at the door stops us.

We break the intense kiss and draw away, panting for breath.

I'm sure it's the manager with the coffee Jesse asked for earlier.

“Did I interrupt?” A cold voice pierces through the room, and my throat knots.

The smile on Jesse’s face fades as he spins around.

I dart my gaze to the door, and a gasp escapes my lips.

“Oh, Jesse, are you having fun with my wife?”

It isn't the manager. It is Nikolai. Nikolai fucking Rider!

Horror crushes me and causes beads of sweat to b

reak out on my back as the smirk on his face fades and his blazing eyes lock with mine.

He lets go of the door handle, and steps fully into the room.

“You really have a death wish, don't you, Jesse Rider?” He mutters, and I feel life leave my body.
