CHAPTER FORTY SEVEN

CHAPTER FORTY SEVEN

Aria's POV

“My boyfriend? As in Ethan?” I looked closely at it again.

Ethan had no business or dealings with Allen. I knew Allen had a lot of terrible dealings on his hands, but definitely not Ethan.

“Yes. He is also a part of the people we suspect who worked with Allen to commit these crimes.”

“What are you even talking about? Look, I know you people have the wrong information about me and my company, but what you won't be allowed to do today is to blame the people I love. Just leave them out of this because there's nothing implicating about this picture, and that's not Ethan's face. I will recognize him with my eyes closed.” I insisted firmly.

They looked at themselves and smiled at me.

“The rules are very different in here. The earlier you know, the better for all of us. Do you understand?” Lawrence said to me. His look was stern, and I was beginning to get frightened but I didn't let it show on my face.

“You've asked me a simple question and I've answered. I don't get how this matters to anything we are trying to get at here.” I snapped.

“It will be very good for you to remain calm through this session. It would do you more good than affect us in any way.” Valerie said to me.

Her gait was more boastful as she spoke this time around. I wondered what level of mess I had gotten myself into.

Valerie took out a pen torch and pointed it at the picture. “Do you still insist that this isn't your boyfriend.”

I didn't look at it. I was just certain at heart, so I said, “Yes, he is not my boyfriend. My boyfriend doesn't look nothing like that. That's a slap on his face.”

They looked at themselves and removed their gaze from me.

“Alright.” Valerie took the picture away from my front, placing it at another end of the table, before she removed a file that was underneath and placed it on top.

“Can you explain these transactions? They were done in your name. From your company to an untraceable account, why? Your board of trustees and stakeholders claimed not to be aware of this large amount of money being transferred out of the company's account.”

I thought for a while about what Rose had said. I couldn't trust these Investigators.

“I'd like to have my lawyer present before I continue this discussion,” I said in a bold voice.

Valerie looked disappointed. I didn't know if she and Lawrence expected that I wasn't going to request my lawyer's presence.

“I've said it many times today. It would be more favourable if you worked closely with us. Just come clean, and we will find you a good deal in front of the judge.” Valerie said, standing up, with her hands folded as she walked to the back of Lawrence.

“What you say doesn't matter to me as much as the amount of trouble you're willing to get me into with your questions. I'd respond to you when my lawyer is present.” I said curtly and remained silent.

They knew the session I had with them was now over, and they packed up their things and left the room.

I didn't know what could kill more. The silence and uncertainty that filled the air as I sat in and was forced to think of everything that could probably be going wrong, and investors backing out of the company.

I must have brought so much shame on Kael.

I don't know how I can ever look him in the face with all this that I've done and not informed him about.

My phone and all my things were taken from me. I was just sitting blankly.

I rested my head on the table and remained still.

I heard a little movement like some people were approaching the door where I was in so I raised my head.

The door was unlocked, and two other sets of unknown individuals walked in with two policemen

“You're to come with us.” They said.

I didn't even know which one of them did because the policemen walked over to me and immediately uncuffed my legs and cuffed my hands that were let loose, to the back.

“Where am I being taken to? What's going on?” I asked as I realized I was being taken out of the station.

“You've been transferred to somewhere else.” One police officer responded to me, holding me tight and walking with me to the car.

“Why? What about my lawyer? Why am I not getting a lawyer to be with me? Is something going on that I'm not aware of?”

My concerns grew because I didn't want to be taken to a place where no one would know where I was or what was being done to me.

I knew the system could be so rigged, and I might be forced to take full responsibility for all the allegations made against me.

“Just get into the car, ma'am.” The police said as we got to the car. And I was forced to enter.

The drive was longer than I ever thought, and I was concerned.

I tried to think of whether there was anyone who might want me dead who was maybe pulling a string against me to ensure I don't survive.

I feared for my life.

We get to a large building, very late at night.

The men who stood by the gate were armed forces men. They wore their uniforms, and they looked like they were ready for combat at any time.

I wondered why I was transferred to somewhere that looked more serious for my case.

“Please, what's this place?” I asked the policeman who drove the car.

“It's a private military station.”

“What's that supposed to mean? I'm not safe here.”

“Nothing will happen to you here.” He didn't try to assure me about it. He just said, blankly.

We get out of the vehicle, and I see someone I didn't expect to meet, standing ahead of me.
