Chapter 18: When Will We Make Love?

The veins on Matthew's arms popped as Calliope moved, as he was struck by a strong urge to grab her hair and push her down hard.

But he wanted to savor Calliope's initiative; interrupting her would be a bummer.

Just then, Calliope's head brushed past his private area. Was she about to kowtow?

Realizing what she was up to, Matthew quickly grabbed the back of her neck and lifted her up. Their faces were inches apart, their breaths mingling.

Calliope looked confused and asked, "What's wrong, Mr. Moore?"

Matthew chuckled in frustration. Calliope was still blinking at him innocently. Didn't she get how easily her actions could be misunderstood?

At that moment, Matthew could almost hear his conscience nagging him for messing with an orphaned girl like this.

"Calliope, have you never begged anyone before?" he asked.

Matthew wondered how she even got into Ascend Global Group with such low emotional intelligence.

"So what will it take for you to agree?" Calliope asked.

"The answer's simple, it's always been there, you just don't want to do it," Matthew replied.

Calliope thought, 'So, from the beginning, all Matthew wants is my body? If that's the case, then I would agree.'

She never thought of herself as noble. If survival was on the line, morality wouldn't be her top priority.

She thought to herself, 'Sorry, Mrs Moore. I hate to do this but it seems to me that I don't have a choice. You can get retaliated against me all you want.'

"I agree," Calliope said.

When she said those words, Matthew almost thought he misheard.

A wave of satisfaction washed over him. He pressed Calliope onto the bed, watching her wavy hair spread out on the white sheets.

Matthew picked up a strand and sniffed it lightly, murmuring, "Calliope, are you sure? Once you agree, there's no turning back. I'll give you one last chance."

"I won't regret it. It's just sex, right? You're so handsome, I won't lose out," Calliope said.

Despite her words, Matthew could feel her trembling slightly beneath him. It wasn't fear, but nervousness. Just once, and she was already nervous?

Besides, once Calliope was in his bed, the number of times wouldn't be up to her. Calliope didn't care anymore. She reached out to unbutton Matthew's shirt, quickly undoing two buttons, revealing his muscular chest.

Matthew smirked, grabbing her small hand and squeezing it lightly. "Are you sure you want to do this in the hospital?"

Matthew was really bad when it came to tantalizing her.

Calliope knew she couldn't outplay him, so she just pleaded for fewer unnecessary steps.

"Can't we?" she asked.

"I don't mind, but you probably can't," Matthew said.

He stopped teasing her, tucked her back into the blanket, and gave her a hard kiss on the lips to ease the tension.

"You're still not fully recovered, and you're malnourished. The doctor told me to be gentle with you. I won't make a move on you at a time like this," Matthew cooed. Calliope's face turned beet red!

Even though Matthew didn't name names, she immediately thought of Gerald. It sounded like something he'd say!

So, was this how people saw her relationship with Matthew? It sure seemed like it.

Otherwise, why would Matthew keep indulging her?

Calliope pulled the blanket up to her forehead, only leaving a tuft of hair exposed.

Matthew yanked the blanket down, saying, "Sleeping with your head covered is bad for you!"

As soon as he said it, he realized how naggy he sounded. If Gerald found out, he'd never let him live it down.

Maybe it was because Calliope finally agreed. Even though she said just once, Matthew didn't mind. As long as he could crack her icy exterior, the rest would follow.

Matthew, like a predator eyeing its prey, was waiting for her to recover so he could fully enjoy her. But Calliope couldn't wait!

It wasn't that she was eager to sleep with him, but Bianca couldn't wait. The next day, she called directly.

"Why haven't I heard anything yet? Did you do it or not?" Bianca asked.

"Sorry, I was hospitalized yesterday," Calliope replied.

"Medical fees cost a lot. If it's something you can treat yourself, don't waste money. Save it for Sophia. Get it done quickly; seeing Sophia so down really breaks my heart," Bianca said.

"I understand," Calliope said.

After hanging up, Calliope felt bitter and frustrated.

The Brown Family might be ruined, but Sophia still had someone who cared for her. Calliope was really envious.

Calliope forced herself to be discharged. When she returned to the secretary's office, Ella immediately came over.

"Are you okay? How are you feeling?" Ella asked.

"I'm ready to work," Calliope said.

"Mr. Moore is really lucky to have an employee like you," Ella said, giving her a discreet thumbs up.

Calliope sighed, not knowing how to explain. Everthing had turned more complicated between her and Matthew since last night, and after hehad taken her to the hospital in person, she had already been in a situation where she couldn't explain anything away.

Since it couldn't be explained, she didn't want to waste her breath.

"I'll go deliver these documents," Calliope said.

She picked up the documents and went to Matthew's office door, knocking.

"Come in." Robert was reporting to Matthew. Seeing her, he closed the folder, turned around, and left, closing the door behind him without wasting a second.

Calliope pointed at the door, a bit confused, saying, "I'm sorry for my interruption. Shall I call Mr. Davis back?"

Matthew smiled, "No need. What do you need to report?"

"These are the reports I finished. I didn't have time to give them to you before I went to the hospital," Calliope said.

Matthew reviewed them, found no issues, and accepted them, telling Calliope to continue with her other work.

But Calliope stood in front of the desk, not leaving.

"What's the matter? Is there something else?" Matthew asked.

After a long internal struggle, Calliope blurted out, "When are we going to have sex?"
