Chapter 73 Don't tell him

Chapter 73 Don't tell him
“You look exhausted,” Zara observed as the words on the book in front of me blurred. My ability to focus on learning was slipping through my fingers. She was right. I was positively drained even after spending the morning soaking up the sunlight. This was all because of Idris, even after finding me in the bathroom last night, he still didn’t keep his hands to himself.

In the early morning, I walked out of his room, made myself tea in the kitchen, then looked for Zara until I found her in the pack library. I tried to read some stories about werewolves, but they seriously bored the hell out of me. “What happened to your mother and father?” That question blurted out of my mouth after recalling everything that happened the last time Brian was here.

“They were saved by the moon goddess and they are far away from here,” she responded with her eyes still in the book.

“Huh! I get you,” I nodded my head though I didn’t understand her point. “I told you that the moon goddess might bless you with more powers,” she raised her head and looked at me.

“Do you know it that every time you talk about that, I lose interest in whatever I’m doing?” The bitter truth escaped out of my mouth, but I was chuckling.

“I know, but I always want to tell you even though you don’t pay me any mind,” she laughed. “As a Luna, you’re gonna start to go on different ceremonies with Idris,” she went on.

“Your conversations make me feel like sleeping,” I laughed, shutting the book. “I know, it all seems surreal to you, but soon it will become real,” she smiled. “Brian befriended the witches and he now possesses dark powers,” her next words made my mouth fall open.

“So…” I began but paused, finding no words to say.

“He might put all his attention on you. Since Idris killed his mate, all he wants is to kill you too,” she murmured the last words in a low voice.

“I want to have a nap,” I nearly choked on the words as tears brimmed in my eyes.

“Raelynn, wait, you’re the only one who is going to save our pack.” Just as I was standing up to leave, she walked quickly toward me, but I didn’t want to hear anymore.

I didn’t want her stories. I was a normal human being, and here I was in a strange environment where I had the ability to heal people. I couldn’t even think about escaping again because I wasn’t only marked as a mate to a beast but also carried its baby. For now, I didn’t want to think about the fact that I was pregnant, and I didn’t want to tell Idris about it. Everything that was happening in this strange world was a nightmare to me.

“Raelynn…”

“Don’t say anything, I want to be alone,” I instantly cut Zara off mid-sentence then walked out of the library.

“I understand the situation you’re passing through, and I’m not going to leave your side ever,” she was behind me, walking quickly toward me. “Raelynn, you do have to listen to me,” she kept on talking.

Totally frustrated, I didn’t go into Idris’s room; I went straight to my room, but then before I could slam the door in Zara’s face, she entered quickly.

“Zara, leave me alone for a while,” I said calmly before sitting down on the edge of my unused bed.

“I get your point, but I wanna stay here with you,” she protested.

“Go on and do whatever…” Just as I was removing the blankets to slip into the bed, something long and black immediately struck out from underneath the blankets. In a blink of an eye, something like silver flew in front of my eyes and the hissing creature dropped to the floor with a thud.

My heart instantly hammered, and I stumbled away from the bed only to see a massive black snake hanging off the bed with its head severed away from its body. The image of sharp fangs glistening with venom ingrained into my eyes. Bile immediately rose into the back of my throat and my already uneasy stomach pushed me to vomit.

Blood seeped from the snake’s head, and Zara stepped steadily toward the silver dagger on the floor. She looked back just in time to see me throwing up the breakfast and lunch I had in the corner of the room.

“It’s a whispering death,” she mumbled under her breath, and I felt her hands on my shoulder attempting to soothe me. Tears just brimmed in my eyes as I puked everything. Life in this strange world was becoming unbearable to me. I didn’t even know what whispering death meant.

“Why me?” Tears began to fall down my eyes as I shook terribly.

“Someone might have left it there in the bed for you,” she spoke while walking me away from the corner of the room. “It’s nothing serious, don’t stress yourself over it,” she spoke while pulling me more toward her.

“I told you, Raelynn, everything in our place is real. Someone is perhaps after your life,” as soon as I heard her say that, I quickly ran to the corner of the room and spilled the rest of my lunch.

“It’s alright, Raelynn,” she ran her hands on my back in a soothing motion, but I just continued to heave. “Miscarriages, it’s all I’m destined to,” I trembled. “They are going to kill me. Every time I become pregnant, something bad happens to me and I end up having a miscarriage,” I cried out in the crook of her neck.

“Don’t worry, that isn’t going to happen this time. I’m not going to let anything happen to the heir of this pack,” I instantly raised my head from the crook of her neck as soon as I heard her say that.

“Don’t tell Idris about the pregnancy,” I huffed as I wiped away the tears from my face.

“I won’t,” she replied.

“Don’t tell him about the snake too,” I croaked out while gathering myself together.

“I won’t,” she reassured.

“Okay, I want to have a nap, but in Idris’s room,” I said.

“Okay, let me go work on your dress, I will check on you later.”
