Chapter 213: Desperate

Daniela POV

Standing under the rain, the cold droplets soaking through my clothes and chilling me to the bone. I was confused, helpless, and lost, with no idea how to process the turmoil of emotions swirling inside me.

I knew Regina could see me, wherever she was. To anyone else, this moment might seem like my most vulnerable and depressing, but the truth was, my lowest point had been when I arrived home to find Regina missing. I had almost lost my mind, consumed by the thought of losing her again after finally having her back.

But right now, I didn't want Regina to feel pity for me. No, I was standing under the rain because I hoped it could wash away the emotional turmoil that had been building up inside me. Every so often I hated myself for not being able to protect her, for not being able to keep her safe.

And then there was the revelation that had left me reeling - Regina had a child for me. The thought sent my mind spinning, and I felt like I was going crazy. I had so many questions, so many emotions, and I didn't know how to process any of it.

The rain continued to pour down on me, but I stood there, frozen in my thoughts, trying to make sense of the chaos that had become my life.

I stood there, frozen in my thoughts, as the rain continued to pour down around me. I was a jumble of emotions, unsure of how to process the revelation that I had a child with Regina. On one hand, the thought filled me with a sense of joy and wonder. But on the other hand, it made me realize just how much I had missed out on in her life over the past year. I had missed the birth of my own child, and that knowledge cut deep, making me feel like a failure.

As I stood there, lost in my thoughts, I became aware of the faint sound of footsteps approaching. The rain fell heavily around me, as if echoing my turbulent emotions. Suddenly, Darryl's voice cut through the din, speaking softly beside me. "Sir, that's enough. We should head back."

I didn't turn to look at him, but instead, I felt a strange sensation, as if the rain was being repelled from me. I looked up to see a black umbrella hovering above me, shielding me from the downpour.

I took one last look at the house, my heart heavy with emotion, before finally turning to face Darryl. He gave me a reassuring nod, his eyes filled with understanding and compassion.

The car ride back to the penthouse was silent, with only the sound of the windshield wipers breaking the stillness. Darryl was equally drenched, but he didn't seem to mind, his expression focused on the road ahead.

As we arrived at the penthouse, I felt a sense of comfort wash over me. This was a place that felt like her, like Regina. The penthouse carried her presence, and the memories of last night were still fresh in my mind.

I took a cold bath, trying to wash away the fatigue and the emotions that had been swirling inside me. I didn't know how long I had been under the rain, but I could tell that it was getting late.

After the bath, I decided to spend the remaining hours in, trying to get some rest. But my sleep was restless, my mind racing with thoughts of Regina and our child.

The next morning, I was jolted awake by the sound of my phone ringing. I groggily picked up the call, and Darryl's urgent voice was on the other end.

"Daniel, there's an emergency," he said, his words spilling out quickly. "We've just tracked Regina heading towards the airport."

I threw off the covers and jumped out of bed, not wasting a single moment. I dressed hastily, my mind racing with the thought of Regina leaving. I couldn't let that happen. I had to stop her.

I rushed out of the penthouse and got into my car, peeling out of the driveway without even checking to hear the full information. My eyes were fixed on the clock, watching as the minutes ticked away. I had to get to the airport before Regina left.

I didn't anticipate this, probably because I never thought she'd try to flee at the next moment. But now, I was faced with the very real possibility of losing her and our child forever.

Panic set in, and my thoughts began to spiral out of control. What if I didn't make it in time? What if I never got to see her again? The questions swirled in my head, making it hard to focus on the road.

"Damn it!" I hit the brakes when the traffic light showed red at the last minute. The car shook due to the abrupt stop. I glanced at the time and panicked more, but out of nowhere, a truck crashed into me, sending my car careening off the road. I felt a jolt of pain as my head hit the steering wheel, and I was aware of a warm liquid dripping down my face and onto my hand.

For a moment, I couldn't process anything. I was disoriented and confused, my mind struggling to catch up with what had just happened. But as the reality of the situation began to sink in, I knew I had to get out of the car and get to the airport. I had to stop Regina from leaving.

I looked down, and my heart sank as I saw the blood dripping from my head onto my hand. My gaze began to blur, and I felt a wave of dizziness wash over me. I panicked, my mind racing with the thought that this might be my last chance to see Regina again.

I struggled to stay conscious, my head pounding in agony. I looked at the time, and my heart sank even further. I was running out of time, and I knew I had to act fast.

With a surge of adrenaline, I tried to reach for my phone, but a searing pain gripped my heart, and I felt my strength failing. I struggled again, but my vision began to blur, and I felt myself being pulled down into the darkness.

"R-Regina..." I muttered Regina's name, my voice barely audible, as I felt myself losing consciousness. I was desperate to hold on, to fight for just one more minute, but it was no use. The darkness closed in around me, and I fell unconscious, my last thought of Regina and our child.
