Chapter 17: Chapter Seventeen
Everett
“Thank you for dinner.” Aubrey smiles as we head through to the living room with a glass of wine.
“You are welcome. I am glad you came. I honestly believed you would have changed your mind.”
She raises her brow at me. “Like I had a choice. If I didn’t, you would have shown up at my place.”
I could deny it, but what would be the point? We know it is the truth. I smirk and nod. She responds to me with an eye roll. I chuckle, shaking my head. I guide her towards the sofa, letting her sit first before I join her. I sit as close as possible, making her nervous. I always have fun making her nervous.
“Could you get any closer? What is the need for it?” she asks.
I take her glass from her and set it down on the coffee table. I do the same with mine. Aubrey looks at me, confused. I don’t say anything. In one swift movement, I bring her into my lap, causing her to gasp. “There is always room to get closer.”
“What are you doing?” she breathes out.
“Nothing,” I say casually.
She goes to climb off my lap, but I grip her hips before she has a chance to move.
“Why won’t you let me move?” she whines.
I circle my fingers on her hip. “I prefer you right here.”
Aubrey sighs. “Why won’t you just forget about me?”
I reach my hand in and caress her cheek with my thumb. “Because I don’t want to. You don’t want me to.”
She closes her eyes and draws in a breath. She can’t handle being so close to me. I use her closed eyes to my advantage. I cover her lips with mine. I wait for her to pull away, but she doesn’t. She kisses back. Aubrey whimpers into the kiss. I groan, running my hands up the back of her bare thighs since she has shorts on. She shudders under my touch, her skin heating against my fingertips.
I don’t understand why she keeps fighting against it; she clearly needs and wants it. Aubrey snakes her arms around my neck. The kiss quickly becomes heated. My cock throbs in my joggers. The only way my urge for her is going to go away is if I bury my cock inside of her. If that happens, then I will be over it and move on.
I flip her onto her back and take my place above her. I trace my lips down her jawline and onto her neck. She moans and entangles her fingers in my hair. I gently suck on her neck, leaving a small hickey. I grasp her thigh and bring it around my hip, reclaiming her lips in mine. I force my tongue into her mouth, and she doesn’t deny me. She happily moves her tongue in sync with mine. She slips her other leg around me. I am not the only one enjoying it. My cock grows against her more with every second. We are like a pair of horny teenagers.
Aubrey parts from the kiss first. Both of us are breathing heavily. I glance down at her. She opens her eyes, staring up at me with lustful eyes and flushed cheeks.
“Everett, I am not ready to have sex with someone yet. No matter how much my body wants to, my head and heart don’t. I am sorry.”
There is sadness in her voice, and she quickly breaks eye contact with me. I understand people not wanting to rush into sex. It happens, but she seems almost fearful. What happened in her last relationship?
I rest back on my knees. “You don’t need to apologise for it, Aubrey. It is your choice and body. You know when you are for these things. What happened with your ex?”
It is none of my business, but there has to be a reason for it.
“He wasn’t a nice man. He didn’t have gentle hands. It is hard for me to trust another man to touch me. Please don’t ask questions or look at me like I am some broken thing. If you do, I will leave.”
Her voice is firm, but the sadness is still evident in it. I wanted to ask questions, but I won’t.
“Okay, I won’t ask any questions.”
I pull away and sit up. I am trying to ignore my throbbing cock and sexual frustration. I can’t push her. I wouldn’t push her. It will happen eventually. Sooner rather than later would be nice, but it isn’t up to me.
I jump to my feet. “I will be back in a minute.”
I head in the direction of the bathroom. I need a moment to calm down and readjust.
“Everett, I am sorry. I didn’t mean to lead you on.” Aubrey says as I walk away.
I stop in my tracks and turn to face her. “Aubrey, you have nothing to be sorry for. You aren’t ready, and I respect that.” I smile.
She nods, sitting up. I continue my way to the bathroom. Once I arrive, I splash some cold water on my face. If I didn’t have company, I would take a cold shower. I take a few moments to gather myself and readjust. I need to keep it together for the rest of the night. I don’t think she will stay late. I will make a call once she leaves to get what I need. It isn’t like I am lacking in options. I can behave for a few hours.
I make my way back through. Aubrey isn’t where I left her. Where is she? I check around the place, but she has vanished. I check the coat rack and notice her coat and bag are gone. She left! Why the hell would she do that? I didn’t ask like any questions like she asked. I didn’t even hear the front door open and close. I am annoyed she went without a word.
I grab my cell to call her, but it rings out. Did she leave because of what happened? Did she believe I was upset with her? I groan in frustration. There was no need for her to leave. I grab my car keys and rush out. I will arrive at her place not long after her. She will be pissed at me for following her, but that is nothing new. I want answers.
