Chapter 262 Queen or Not, I Choose You
Chapter 262 Queen or Not, I Choose You
The private car hummed quietly as we left the Bear Clan territory behind. I sat next to Kane in the back seat, my mind still reeling from everything that had happened. In just a few days, I'd gone from being a Luna candidate to somehow becoming the Queen of the Bear Clan. It felt surreal.
Kane shifted beside me, his hand finding mine in the darkness. His touch sent familiar electricity through my skin. For a moment, we just sat in comfortable silence, the moonlight filtering through the tinted windows casting shadows across his sharp features.
"Elena," Kane finally broke the silence, his voice uncharacteristically hesitant. "Now that you're not just a Luna candidate but also the Queen of the Bear Clan, helping them rebuild..." He paused, swallowing hard. "Do you still want to be with me?"
I jerked my head toward him, eyes wide with shock. "What? How can you even ask that?"
The question hit me like a physical blow. After everything we'd been through, how could he doubt my feelings?
"Why would my change in status affect how I feel about you?" I asked, my voice rising with emotion. "You're my mate, Kane. My soul mate. You're who I truly care about."
Kane's eyes, those mesmerizing gold-green orbs, searched mine in the dim light. "You now have responsibilities to two different clans," he explained quietly. "You're carrying a burden I never anticipated. You have more choices now, Elena. You're not just a contestant anymore."
His thumb traced circles on my palm as he continued, "I worry that with your new position, you might have different expectations. Maybe you'll meet someone more suitable for your new role."
I couldn't believe what I was hearing. My free hand cupped his face, forcing him to look directly at me.
"Listen to me," I said firmly. "I don't care about any of these changes. None of this affects how I feel about you. Everything I've done—all of it—was so I could be with you. These titles, these responsibilities... they don't change what's in my heart."
The tension in Kane's shoulders visibly eased, a relieved smile spreading across his face. "I just needed to be sure, Elena. Whatever happens, I'll be by your side."
His hand slid to the back of my neck, drawing me closer. Our lips met tentatively at first, a gentle question. When I responded, pressing closer, the kiss deepened. All the uncertainty and fear melted away as his mouth moved against mine, hungry and desperate.
"My mate," I whispered against his lips, testing the words. Inside me, Nora howled with joy, recognizing her mate. Kane's eyes flashed gold-green in response, his inner wolf answering the call.
Kane pulled me closer, his fingers threading through my brown hair. The atmosphere in the car grew heated, windows slowly fogging with our breath in the night air. His hands traced down my sides, sending shivers across my skin.
Suddenly, he pulled back, breathing heavily. "We shouldn't—not here," he murmured, his voice rough with desire. "I don't have protection."
I looked up at him, my heart so full it might burst. In that moment, I knew with absolute certainty what I wanted. "A child with you would be a blessing," I said softly, meaning every word.
His eyes darkened at my words. "I love you," he whispered, the admission hanging between us like something precious and fragile.
I felt Nora stirring restlessly inside me, eager to be closer to Kane's wolf. The connection between us felt stronger than ever before.
"Your bond with Nora is stronger now," Kane observed, gently stroking my cheek. "And now you have the Bear Clan bloodline power too."
I smiled up at him. "All these changes only make me more certain about what I want. And that's you, Kane."
Once we stepped into our room at Silver Moon Estate, the air between us crackled with unspoken need.
The door clicked shut, sealing us away from the outside world, and Kane’s gaze, burning with a gold-green fire, pinned me in place. He closed the distance in an instant, his hands cupping my face as he kissed me with a hunger that set my soul ablaze. Our wolves howled within us, their primal energy weaving together, urging us closer.
His hands slid down my neck, over my shoulders, and beneath the fabric of my shirt, his touch igniting every inch of my skin. I gasped as his fingers deftly worked to undo the barriers between us, my own hands fumbling with his shirt, desperate to feel the warmth of his bare chest against mine. Clothes fell away in a frantic rush, pooling on the floor until there was nothing left but the raw heat of our bodies pressed together.
Kane guided me toward the bed, his strength both commanding and tender as he lowered me onto the soft sheets. His lips trailed a searing path down my jaw, lingering at the sensitive hollow of my throat before dipping lower, exploring every curve with reverent intensity.
My breath hitched as his hands roamed, teasing and worshipping, stoking a fire that threatened to consume me. “Elena,” he murmured against my skin, his voice a low growl of desire, “you’re everything.”
I arched into him, my fingers digging into his shoulders, craving more. “Kane, please,” I whispered, my voice trembling with need.
That plea seemed to unravel him. His touch grew bolder, more insistent, as he positioned himself above me, his eyes searching mine for any hesitation. Finding none, he moved with me, a slow, deliberate rhythm at first, each motion a testament to the bond we shared.
The world narrowed to the sensation of him, the heat, the connection, building into an overwhelming crescendo.
Our movements became urgent, desperate, as tension coiled tighter within me. My cries mingled with his ragged breaths, our wolves singing in unison, until the wave finally broke. I called out his name, clinging to him as pleasure surged through me, relentless and all-consuming. Moments later, Kane followed, a deep, shuddering groan escaping him as he held me close, my name on his lips like a sacred vow.
Afterward, as we lay tangled together, sweat-slicked and breathless in the moonlight filtering through the window, Kane pressed his lips to my forehead. "No matter what happens, I'll protect you and Elva," he promised, his voice soft but resolute.
"You've already done so much for us," I whispered back, my fingers tracing the contours of his face.
Looking into his eyes, I poured out my heart. "I love you, Kane. More than words can ever express. I want to build a life with you, to wake up every day knowing we’re in this together, forever."
Kane’s gaze softened, a tender smile curving his lips as he brushed a strand of hair from my face. "I love you too, Elena. I dream of a future where we’re surrounded by laughter, maybe even the sound of little feet running through these halls. A family, a pack, a home—built on this bond we share."
In that moment, regardless of what titles we held or what responsibilities awaited us, we were simply two souls who had found their way back to each other. And with that vision of a beautiful tomorrow, that was more than enough.
