Chapter 17 Awkward Wedding
After discussing the terms and conditions, the day, carrying his most profound desires and inexplicable exhilaration, William came to her place to finalize their marriage.
Wearing a black waistcoat with a dark pattern along with a white shirt, looking enchanting.
Two buttons opened with perfectly rolled sleeves accompanied by an expensive brooch, and black pants.
“Here, I have signed-”
Clearing his throat, when his eyes joined hers, in a short length white dress, hairs styled beautifully with minimum makeup.
For him, her scant effort to look pretty, at least, for the so-called wedding, pumped his heart beats rapidly. The perception she dressed for him, was enough to float his soul with endless euphoria.
“Are you sure you are willing to let them hate you? About the consequences and marry me?”
He took a step closer, “Yes,”
Drowned in her entirely, he got lost senselessly and stopped right before her.
“Oh, you have not the slightest imagination of what ache I had gone through,”
She held back her breath when he hovered over her.
“How lonely and hard it was to the point I couldn’t handle it anymore,”
Losing his breath, stopped right at her face so she could witness the veneration glistening in his eyes and whispered sincerely.
“And now, I willing to place everything I own at stake to take two steps with you,”
Moving back instinctively at the vicinity, she cleared her throat, face turning crimson when he decided to unshackle his emotions.
“Since when you began to feel this way for me, William? For how long have you held these feelings?”
He didn’t reply. Only stared, deeply.
Disheartened for having nothing to provide him, a tear pricked in the corner.
“I am sorry I am incapable of returning the same feelings,”
He merely continued to smile. Hands in his pocket, staring as if it was his deepest longing, lost somewhere in her eyes.
“However all I could do for you for always being there for me is to respect your feelings and give you a chance,”
Lifting her gaze finally but stopping it at his chest, she confessed, “That is all I can provide you,”
“I see,”
“I can’t even promise that I will be a good wife, is that acceptable for you?”
“That is more than enough for me,”
And with her mind turning hazy, sensations no longer in her grasp, swaying along with the depth of the moment, she signed the marriage papers with her trembling hands.
‘Oh my God, I am going to marry him… What am I doing? Is that the right choice?’
Slowly, all her life began to rush in her mind, the past ten years where she grew up with him, all of it stiff her.
She looked at him, ‘Him? Again?... I guess there is no chance to escape my silent fate,’
To which her mind mocked her that silenced her- ‘As if Luke was the best option too,’
Not trusting herself anymore, she decided to do what she considered right.
Uncaring of the consequences of the devastation it could drag along.
She signed the papers.
The second they both signed the marriage license papers, he could feel the pounding heartbeats signalling towards his endless glee for having what he yearned for.
He finally had what he wished for.
Being thankful towards the destiny that finally latched their heart together.
“I will get them registered. Also, Umm, Listen,”
“Yes,”
His heart skipped a beat, lips drying with an anticipation, mind no longer holding the capability to function all because a label of ‘her lawfully wedded husband,’ was attached.
He was stuck in incredulity.
“That pendant I gave you… it was my mother’s… it meant a lot to me,”
Faking a cough, he attempted to forge a sentence straight.
“And.. I.. uh.. I never imagined I would marry you one day… else I thought about keeping it as a wedding gift, for my bride… still gave it to you,”
She gasped inaudibly when it made sense, “That explains why Luke was so angry about it. Why did you give it to me?”
“I thought watching my precious wear my precious will soothe me and it undoubtedly did.”
A blush rose to her cheeks, her heart skipped a beat. Moving back quickly, not allowing herself to sway along his beats, she tugged her hair behind.
“W-Would you like to have lunch together?” She offered softly.
“Sure,”
He nodded as they ordered food and ate in a comfortable silence.
Arabella’s mind had shut down, staring into nothingness while cleaning the dishes after eating.
‘When did he start feeling this way for me? When did this all happen? And me, what was I thinking? How could I do this? Didn’t I promise myself? I said I won’t do it then why did I?’
When she was surrounded by her stressful thoughts, William stood beside her and began to wash his dish as well.
“You don’t have to, William, I can-”
“It’s alright,” He smiled faintly.
Stopping, she shifted her head, noticing the difference in their height when he was beside her, his muscular body compared to hers, looking intimidating without a doubt.
Immobilized, she couldn’t move when he took the dish from her hand and washed hers as well since she stood motionless.
“Bella,”
After being done, he wiped his hands. The second he caught a glimpse of her gaze, she looked away- too much to his disappointment.
Taking a deep breath, he scanned her angelic form, never failing to not attract him as he offered his hand.
“You have not the slightest imagination of the felicity you have granted me. I feel like today all my longings have come to an end,”
Slowly, very slowly taking his hand as he kissed her knuckles.
“And I will try my best to become a better man for you, to give you a better life, to not let any grief reach you again, I will do everything for you,”
Giving his hand a soft squeeze, she forced a weak smile, trusting her fate and decisions.
“Thank you, William,”
‘Ah, this will take my life,’
Considering it a savory moment, an unforgettable day where his darkest desire had been fulfilled after years craving.
Handling his scattering feelings, he abruptly pulled away from her.
“I uh.. I should leave now,”
“Take care,”
“You too,”
Thinking in mesmerization, he continued to smile, grabbing his phone and car keys from the table and waving his hand before leaving, starting their married life…
