Chapter 140 Blind For Him
Mr. Harrison spun around. Luke Grayson stood in the doorway, his silhouette framed by the morning light accompanied by a lethal smirk.
"Get out," Mr. Harrison hissed at his assistant, who vanished instantly. He turned his glare back to Luke.
"Where is my daughter? If you have done something to-"
"I haven't done anything she didn't beg me to do," Luke interrupted, his voice smooth and lethal, indulging in the sight.
He walked into the center of the office, his impish aura was felt by the very walls as his hands were resting in his pockets.
"She is at home. Asleep. I suggested she take the day off. Or the week. Maybe the month." He shrugged, the sly smirk playing along.
"You arrogant brat," Mr. Harrison stepped forward, glaring at the man he knew would change the daughter he spent years creating.
"You don't understand the responsibility she carries. She is the successor of this empire. Acting like a wife is nothing but a waste."
"Is that what you tell her?" Luke’s eyes flashed with a dark, knowing fire. He stopped inches from the older man.
"Or is it just the script you use to make sure she never gets too close to me?” Luke hissed, gaze narrowing with discontent.
“The 'urgent' calls. The 'emergency' meetings. You aren't protecting an empire. You are trying to sabotage a marriage."
Harrison didn't deny it. He straightened his tie, his expression hardening into a mask of corporate coldness.
"She is a Harrison. She belongs to the Chain. She doesn't have room in her life for 'love' or 'attachment.' It makes a leader weak."
"Took years to teach her this yet she didn’t listen," Luke let out a short, ridiculing laugh, “Pathetic,”
Showing off his asshole nature he suppressed to follow William’s footsteps, he leaned against the table.
"Because she didn't choose the Chain today. She chose me. She knelt on the floor, very desperate, I almost wanted to torture her," He snickered,
"You damn brat!" Mr. Harrison’s jaw clenched, slamming his hand on the table.
"She will come back. She always does. The work is in her blood."
"Is it?" Luke continued to smirk, “That’s not what I heard when she pleaded with me last night.”
“You damn brat, what are you doing to my daughter? Are you taking revenge?”
“I am not the one who was after your daughter. She came to me, she offered. I merely took advantage. Every deal has pros and cons. I thought you knew that.”
“I won’t let you-”
“Too late,” Waving his hand to dismiss the discussion, Luke shook Mr. Harrison with an indirect threat that could cost him his whole empire.
"She is my wife now, Mr. Harrison. If you try to interfere with her 'duties' as my wife again,”
Luke turned toward the door, pausing only to throw one last, crushing statement over his shoulder.
“I won't just take her away from this office- I will take this office away from you. Try me.”
Openly challenging him, he left, leaving Mr. Harrison was completely powerless before his daughter’s wishes.
He knew Luke was the charmer of times, his whole university was crazy for him, including his daughter.
Luke left, Mr. Harrison stood in the silence of his glass cage. For the first time that he hadn't just lost his daughter- he had lost his grip on the empire's future.
“Fuck!”
Cursing, he brought his hand to call Peach once again but even if he told her the truth, she won’t believe him.
One wrong move and he would lose Peach forever.
Exactly an hour later, Luke returned.
Peach had settled everything in their home theater, the movie, snacks, adjusted the seats, waiting for his arrival.
“Welcome home.” She beamed, greeting him while twirling her phone around her fingers.
“Thanks for the set up. Give me a moment, I’ll change,”
“Sure.” She paused, glancing at the blank screen again.
Luke noticed and raised his brows, “What?”
“Papa… stopped calling. Usually, he would call over and over again until I answer but now-”
"No phones, Peach," he whispered, snatching the phone from her hands and shaking it before her playfully, "No Papa. No empire. Just us and our movie. Understand?"
“Uh-huh,” She grinned, pecking his cheeks before going back to their home theatre, waiting for her husband so they could spend a pleasant time together.
Creating memories she was going to cherish for the rest of her life.
The next day, Mr. Harrison was working hard, resenting the helpless feeling in his daughter’s matters. His knee shaking, dying to call her and check up on her.
‘Is she okay? What lies is he feeding her? What if she won’t return-”
When the elevator finally dinged, he whirled around, leaving his stack of work and rushing to her side, panicking.
"Peach! Do you have any idea what you've-"
He stopped.
It wasn't just Peach. She walked in, looking calm and radiant, but she was anchored by Luke Grayson.
Luke was beside her, arm draped possessively over her shoulders, his thumb tracing her neck as an indication of his ‘claim.’
"You… you missed the merger meeting," Mr. Harrison hissed, ignoring Luke and pointing a trembling finger at his daughter.
"The investors are panicking. You threw away months of work for... for what? A day in bed?"
Peach opened her mouth to speak, a flicker of the old guilt rising in her eyes, but Luke’s grip tightened, forcing her to stare at him.
"Did you throw it away, Peach," Luke questioned, his voice a low, dangerous rumble.
She breathed out, “No, I did not, Papa.”
Mr. Harrison’s jaw clenched, glaring at Luke who was controlling her, "This is business, Grayson.”
“Something you've clearly forgotten while playing house with my successor. Move aside. Peach, get your things." He called but Peach being Peach, giggled.
“No, Papa.” She winked, glancing at him, and waved her hand playfully.
“We are leaving for your honeymoon. You can handle this measly amount of work. You are used to it. This is nothing.”
“You cannot leave for your honeymoon when we have-”
“Yes. I can. I am Peach Har- Grayson. What I say goes. I say I am going on a honeymoon. I am.” She enunciated, her fingers gracefully in the air, solely attentive towards her husband.
“Are you seriously going to play house?”
“Yes. Who is here to stop me?”
“You will drown the company-”
“I will not. I have you as my shore and I know how exactly I should utilise my assets.”
“Are you calling me an asset?” His mouth gaped, resenting the way Luke tilted his chin up victoriously.
“Everything in business is an asset- You taught me, remember?” She declared, turning her back on him, leading her husband away with a delightful announcement.
“Let’s go, Luke. It’s time to go for our honeymoon and enjoy~”
