Chapter 12 Just Watch
“-At least not anymore.”
He deliberately taunted so it could break her heart which worked perfectly. Those words struck her like thunder. Leaving her stunned to fathom how far he intended to go for her.
Cursing to find her dismayed, he pushed his hair behind making them messy, losing his breaths, his mind.
Questioning where he intend to lead this path but one thing was clear-
“Arabella, listen, I have come after blazing all boats of returning,”
Shifting to his knees, shaking slightly, he held armrest and rested to lean and get a clearer glimpse of her puffy face.
He converted his ache into wrath, confessing the path of destruction he had chosen.
“I don’t fucking care what I have to bargain, what I will lose, what I will confront, I will make you realize that no one and I fucking swear, No one can adore you as much as I do,”
To his most heartfelt, wretched confession, she whispered sorrowfully.
“If you cared that much about me then why didn’t you confess before? Where were you all this time, William? When I-”
She realized what she was about to say and closed her mouth.
“When you?” William paused.
She looked away sorrowfully, “It doesn’t matter. There is no point of it anymore,”
“The past doesn’t matter anymore. I am before you, with an open heart, sincere feelings and pure intentions only,”
Sniffling, she rubbed her eyes to halt the tears and whispered in her gentlest resonance, praying in a corner that he would listen.
“Please, William, you are frightening me, stop it, don’t do this, for my sake, stop,”
For his solace, in a struggle to halt his unstoppable obsession, she almost placed her hand over his heart, begging with him.
“That’s the problem, I can't stop anymore!”
Shutting his eyes, refusing her touch, he lowered her head, voice breaking into hopelessness as well.
“And I will show you that Luke is only feeding you lies, Arabella.”
Inhaling sharply so his composure won’t shatter, he rose from the ground.
“And then you will realize, no soul in this world had desired you as much as I do,”
“Please, William, don’t-”
Unbothered with the whispering going outside about what he was doing, he pointed his finger at Arabella austerely.
“I will show you with proof that Luke went on his own not my order, that he left to avoid you, that he had grown weary of you,”
With determination overflowing, he enunciated and left after pushing her into an endless point of doubts.
“Just watch,”
… William left, left with a resolve to prove his worth and Luke’s insincerity.
Arabella was pushed to her limits, her mind barely functioning.
Although William didn’t appear before her after that confrontation. A fright began to linger in her all the time.
His words began to knock fear on her hollow chest.
What if he returned with actual proof?
Leading her to the edge, ‘If he likes me- wait a second, did he leave… because of me and Luke that day? For us? And if that is the case, he… he wouldn’t want the worst for us.’
She shivered at her thought, shaking her head, losing her breaths at the slightest perception of returning because-
‘What if he is right..?’
Washing her face, she quickly got out of the bathroom. Her head throbbing from stress, eyes falling at Luke who was humming to himself while waiting for her.
It was Sunday, they both were indulging in their holiday, being on call.
She wanted to talk about announcing their relationship but to not ruin his mood, she remained silent.
Noticing her daze, Luke asked sweetly, “What happened? Where are you lost?”
“Luke…”
“Hmm?”
She averted her gaze nervously, praying William was lying and decided to ask.
“What exactly are you doing there that you are so stressed about nowadays?”
“I am seeing how William handles work and it’s extremely hard, I wonder how he manages it but then again, they don’t call him a workaholic for naught.”
He flashed his usual grin, explaining the list of his duties that made her roll her eyes.
“Hmm.”
“What happened?”
“Uh.. William came today to meet me alone,” She added to see his reaction and as expected, it wiped his grin.
Sighed loudly, barely controlling his composure. “Okay, And?” He asked rudely.
“He said you won’t marry me and wants to get rid of me,”
He snickered, “Did he say this or are you making things up?”
“Why would I make this shit up, Luke? Or do you seriously have zero trust in me?”
“Bella, in terms of trust, I think I trust my brother more than you.”
Her heart skipped a beat when he didn’t bother to pay attention to her words and glared. Frowning, her mouth gaped in disbelief.
“William said you are not sincere with me and will leave me. Do you not trust me, Luke?” She repeated.
‘My everything will depend on his response. If he believed that, I will tell him everything,’
“I do, but I also know my brother who is like a second father to me. He sacrificed his happiness, his life, his everything to give me and Helena a better life.” he growled.
“So stop blaming him if you are not ready to marry me,”
Holding his forehead to display frustration, she could feel his wrath through the call as he repeated what she already knew.
“I am not lying, Luke, you have to trust me,”
“Stop it, this isn’t funny. He can’t possibly fathom about doing what could break my heart,” Luke unwaveringly declared.
“Luke-”
“And if you are done with your horrible prank just to see my reaction and repeat everything again then I am not in the mood,”
Forming her lips in a thin line, she looked down sadly, gripping the sheets sadly when he continued glaring, pricking her chest terribly.
“I seriously don’t get it what is wrong with you nowadays, say it straight if you don’t want to talk,”
Gasping, she shook her head in denial, by all means, not preferring his wrath when she was already going through a turmoil.
“No, no, Luke, I didn’t mean to, I am sorry-”
“I am already having a headache and a terrible time here. Please don’t increase it. I am going to have lunch. Goodbye,”
But, not listening to her further, Luke cut the call.
