Chapter 106 Dispelling Fears
Back to Arabella who was miserable while Luke decided to move forward and she was still where she was years ago.
William changed too, she knew there was nothing left. Yet to convince her heart was hard, one way or another she ended up on his shore.
William was working on a file at home, Arabella was glaring at him from afar, clutching the pillow rigidly, cursing him in her heart.
‘What did I gain by loving him? I left everything for him. Why can't he just be mine properly?!’
William smirked, “You look absolutely adorable glaring like this,”
His eyes were glued to the screen, typing rapidly, engrossed entirely in his work still managed to notice her glaring.
“Why bother with the compliment when you just don’t care?”
“Hmm?” To her scoffing, he paused momentarily, “What makes you think I don’t care?”
His gaze slowly lifted, “Who else is left for me too? If I won’t care for you then for whom I will?”
“Then why do I feel incomplete with you?” She questioned back.
He rolled his eyes, going back to work, searching the file he placed behind his laptop.
“That’s just a matter of perspective. Ask me, I think my life, my room, my desires have been completed now,”
“I wish I could feel the same,” Mumbling, she rose from her seat and walked towards the man and handed him the file.
“Thanks,” He smiled feebly, working but becoming his biggest distraction, she parted his legs and sat on his laps.
William frowned, “Bella, you know I can’t-”
“I don’t care,”
Curling in his arms, placing her head on his chest, she remained stubborn, gripping him firmly.
No matter how angry she got, how disheartened or heartbroken she became– In the end, he was all she longed for.
For once she wanted him to notice her feelings which he never did.
“Fine,”
Sighing, William helped her to sit comfortably, to rest all her weight on him after placing a kiss on her hand.
He was going through the file with one hand as his other hand was on her shoulder, rubbing circles gently, leading them down.
“William,” She called, pressing her lips against his ear, sending a shiver down his spine.
“Hmm?”
“What do you exactly want from me, William? Okay, you have captured me- What now?”
“I…” He chuckled nervously, linking his eyes with hers, “I haven’t thought that far.”
Arabella was staring intensely at the man, her gaze narrowing. He was so close to the point his heartbeats were hers.
But, so far that even if she screams, her voice won’t reach him.
‘Where did my William go?’
Thinking sorrowfully, she instinctively intertwined her fingers with his.
Remembering how she used to do in old times whenever she was frightened and he used to reassure her.
Noticing the firm grip, he stopped all his work, “What? Are you scared?”
“No, just wanted to,”
She shook her head in denial, remembering old times, how entwining fingers started…
When Arabella was twenty, she was stressed about her career. Her internship was awful too, her career path was going terrible.
“You should have told me that you are on a date with Hayden, Helena, I am going back,”
“I will be home soon, Bella, stay for a few minutes, we will discuss things then,” She suggested softly.
“What am I supposed to do-”
Hissing, she walked down to leave but bumped into William who just returned from work.
Her heart skipped a beat, staring at the devilishly bewitching man who arched an eyebrow handsomely at her.
“We are leaving, I will see you soon, okay?” With this, Helena cut the call.
Unaware her friend had frozen when her body collided into his. His feelings were blooming, she swore to not sway anymore.
Yet when he was this close, control was impossible. One eye-contact was enough to vanquish her determination.
Her throat dried as she moved back, “Sorry,”
“Why are you in such a hurry, Bella?” He asked, gesturing to her to follow him.
She mindlessly did.
“I was waiting for Helena, she said to come over but she is not here,”
“I can see but what happened to you? Why do you look stressed?”
Showing his bright smile, he leaned against the railing, enhancing his features.
“Uh… you know it’s about my career.”
Since she was used to sharing her problems with him, she told him without hesitation.
And he loved it.
He failed to notice but after he did, ignoring was no longer possible.
“I see. I will help you, let me just freshen up, okay?”
“Okay,”
Studying the pretty woman before him, inducing strange sensations he never experienced before, he smiled beautifully.
An unbreakable attraction pumped his beats, he began to melt in desires, believing she might have interest in him as well.
But, it was late, she had started her ‘moving on’ phase.
After William came, she was waiting innocently.
“So pretty,” He whispered under his breath.
His blood pumped rapidly in response, failing to part his eyes from the coolness of his eyes.
“So, what is it?”
Taking a seat beside her as she turned to face him completely.
His hand moved to the headrest, shifting forward, closing their gap which Arabella hadn’t paid heed to yet and continued.
“I don’t know what to do, William, I thought management would be easy but it’s not. And the environment at my internship is so toxic,” She whined.
“I see.”
“And now I am applying to work anywhere part time so I could pay for college but it’s so expensive. I-I don’t know what to do, “
“It’s alright. You can try employment center,”
“I don’t have enough money,”
“Then take advantage of your surroundings. That’s how the world works,” He suggested calmly.
“Advantage? What do you mean?”
“Work for me or Luke, we have a lot of associates, arranging a job for you isn’t an ordeal for us. It’s not a big deal.”
She made a perturbed face, “But- But, that’s wrong, I-I don’t want people to talk,”
Disliking how her voice was breaking, distress taking over. He frowned and extended his hand out to her.
“Hold my hand, Arabella,”
She blushed, her heart skipped a beat when William demanded something she merely imagined in her dreams.
Her body trembled yet for the sake of sharing his warmth and knowing ‘how it feels’- she intertwined her fingers with him, providing her instant comfort.
“William,”
“I will always help you out whenever you need me, if there is anything I could do to help, I will,” He whispered sincerely, giving her hand a comforting squeeze, disappearing all her worries.
“What will people say?”
“If you are stuck on this, you will never be able to grow. This world is selfish, you need to learn how to use your available resources,”
“But-”
“That is how the world works, Bella, so calm down and give me a chance to help you,” He spoke in his gentlest tone, placing their locked hand over his heart.
They both shivered, impotent to unshackle the chain on their eyes, increasing their heartbeats madly with magnifying longings.
“I am scared,” ‘that I will fall more for you,’ Was silent.
She knew if she took his help, her heart wouldn't be able to stop. She would never be able to move on.
His smile grew wider, leaning dangerously closer, leaving barely recognizable distances between them, whispering wholeheartedly.
“If you are scared again, then hold my hand like this, and I will listen to your every fear, every sorrow, okay?”
Her eyes twinkled, grinning radiantly at the heartwarming offer because in that, she found all her reasons to drown.
“Okay!”
Although later Helena knew she must keep her friend away from her brother so she could move on properly and arranged a job for her.
But, since then, whenever she was frightened or something gobbled her, she held his hand to share her perturbation with him.
Whenever their fingers intertwined, all her fears dispelled.
And she WILL regain this feeling again.
