Chapter 10 Keep Dreaming
At work, due to her boss being uncompromising, she barely had time to feel relaxed.
Waiting impatiently for the break so she could loosen up, the second it arrived, she got herself a sandwich and coffee.
“Ah… finally,”
Groaning, she leaned against the seat, rubbing her shoulders while munching on her sandwich until the peon came.
“Miss Dew,”
“Hmm?”
‘Please don’t tell me he is working even now,’
She thought worriedly but to her surprise, he offered her a bouquet of white roses, her favorite, lifting her spirits instantly.
“Someone left this for you,”
“My, my, I didn’t know you have a boyfriend, Bella,”
Amy commented, she couldn’t help but to blush delightfully, taking the flowers immediately and embracing it firmly.
To her- those must be from Luke after hurting her to apologize for his behavior.
“Oh, there is a card too,” Amy said, handing it to her, thrilled to know who this secret admirer was, only to find her glee vanishing.
‘To My Dearest,’
She immediately recognized his handwriting. William used to tutor her and Helena together long ago, she knew it was from him.
The second this unwanted realization sank in, she threw them on the table angrily.
“No, it’s not for me,”
“It says for you,”
“But it’s not. Throw it away,” She scoffed, picking her coffee and sandwich and walking away coldly.
Amy sighed, “How heartless of you, no wonder you are still single,”
“You can keep it if you want, I have no interest in it,”
After uncaring, throwing the flowers away, not accepting this as a sort of apology or display of affection, she returned with a never ending scowl.
With exasperation reaching its peak, her jaw was clenched, hoping to discard William’s actions from her mind and left for her apartment.
Hoping to eradicate all negative thoughts and not pay heed to his insensible actions only to find things worsening when she found none other than William.
‘Shit, shit, what does he want now?’
Holding no fear of people finding him outside her place, in his white shirt and grey waistcoat and pants, perfectly combed hair completing his dominantly handsome form.
Leaning against the wall by his shoulder with immaculately rolled sleeves and eye-catching posture, making his veins visible.
One hand in his pocket and using the phone with the other and the second he recognized her footsteps, her scent, a sly smirk spread across his lips.
“Threw them away? Well, I expected it,”
“For how long have you been here?” She asked rudely, walking towards the door of her apartment.
“...Two hours.” His smirk converted into a mesmerized smile.
“My sister’s married, my brother's gone for work and I have wrapped up all my work, I have too much free time,”
Tilting his head to the side, observing how a strand got loose, heart pumping uncontrollably at her one glimpse enough to provide a shore to his rampage.
She didn’t reply and began to search for her keys, ignoring him.
He ended in a melodious chuckle, leaning slightly forward, creating a keen eye-contact with her.
“And no offence but real estate isn’t going to cut it out for me. I rather start a restaurant chain,”
Before he could appear before her, she glared at him.
“William, please, if you think you can come here and act fine like nothing happened then you are wrong,”
Putting her hand in the air to stop him from advancing, disliking him attempting to invade her personal space to which he became utterly serious.
Straightening his back, he stood beside her, hovering over her causing her to flinch and avert her gaze.
Noticing her discomfort, he bent slightly towards her, shrinking his eyes from desperation as her failing to greet his gaze pierced him.
“Sorry… I am sincerely sorry, Bella,”
Stopping near her, he whispered sincerely, “But I do not regret confessing. This is the only thing I have no remorse towards,”
A quivering moved down her core when his shadow mixed with her due to proximity to which she opened the door hastily.
“I-I think you should stay away from me,” She stammered to uphold her posture but failed.
“Ah, same words, once again. Have I become that undesirable?” He smirked hollowly, that ridicule halted her whole being.
“Have you begun to resent me this much?”
“William, please… I am afraid of what you are doing to yourself, William,”
Tightening her grip on the knob, her glare converted into a dejected one, almost bringing her hand to hold the lapel of his waistcoat but stopped.
“Look at yourself, what happened? What made you like this?”
‘You,’
Hitching his breaths when she failed to share one gesture, curling it in a fist, purposely hurting him. His jaw clenched, features hardening with dismal.
“I can understand but I have only desired what is best for you and you know it, I would never hurt you on purpose,”
Scoffing, she pretended to not pay heed to him and was about to enter her apartment only to get stopped by his hand in the middle, not permitting her to leave.
Distressed, she whined, holding the door with her both hands, “What do you want?”
“I don’t want your heart to shatter but I swear I will be there for you when he will abandon you.”
Doubling her worry, he whispered breathlessly, desperately as if it had become a need which must be fulfilled else he won’t be himself.
“You must be out of your mind- Oh, right, you are.” She scoffed.
Rolling her eyes, stepping her heel on his foot before hitting his chest to push him away.
“Leave, dammit,”
Lowering his head in gloom, pressing his hand over where she touched, shutting his eyes to maintain his composure, he breathed out.
“Luke won’t marry you, Arabella, why don’t you get it? He is toying with you, please, you have to believe in me,”
“Shut up, dammit!”
“If I wanted, I would have meddled, I am here now because I only desire the best for you, you have to trust me me,”
Yet being shameless, he curled his lips upward agonizingly, breaking into a painful chuckle that deepened her grimace.
“And honestly speaking, I will accept you sincerely with open arms. At least, listen-”
He extended his hand towards her but he had already ravaged her mood and day entirely due to him following her trails.
“Keep dreaming,”
Snarling, she slammed the door on his face, not wanting to bother herself with this fatuous man anymore.
