Chapter 75

Chapter 75
Lauren

Lauren had always felt something was different about herself. She had grown up with no interest at all in boys.                                                                           It was not until she had gone to college and met Clare that something had overwhelmed her, from the very moment she set eyes on the beautiful girl with the blonde curls.

Lauren’s stomach had churned the first time they smiled at each other, when they found themselves in the same business class. She had sat down next to Clare and smiled. “Hi I’m Lauren.” Clare smiled back and introduced herself.

It did not take Lauren long before she had asked Clare’s roommate at the time, if she would mind swapping dorms so that she could be closer to her. Clare loved their late nights watching endless old black and white movies, snuggled under the duvet with bowls of popcorn, their feet entwined or resting her head on Lauren’s shoulder.

She never paid much attention to the times they had gone out for drinks or to clubs and Lauren had drunkenly kissed her. It was all part of them growing up and as far as she could tell, it was all harmless fun and girls just being girls.

“I love you!” Lauren had once exclaimed after a night out and far too many drinks for either of them to care. “I love you to. You’re my absolute best friend in the world!” Exclaimed a flushed faced and rather drunk Clare.

“No, I really love you, Clare. I don’t think you understand.” Continued Lauren, as she sidled up further to Clare in the bed. Her hand resting on her best friend’s flat, soft stomach.

The girls had fallen asleep. Lauren wanting more but realising even though she was drunk, that it would take more time for Clare to realise that her love was deep seated.

What she had not banked on was that Clare would meet Jonathan. That changed everything for Lauren.
