Will you marry me? Cont...Pt7
“Do we have a visitor?”
Puzzled, Resena concluded her aunt, and uncle must have a guest over. Finally, she made it to the front door. As she entered the home, Resena saw that her aunt, uncle, and an unknown gentleman were standing in the foyer. In unison, they all turned around and looked at Resena. Her aunt Larna, ever so calm, smiled at her niece as if she was a package that had finally been delivered.
That Saturday morning, Julius found himself looking up various restaurant locations in the areas close to the Bungalow. He figured it would be better to eat first and then pick up the dry cleaning. After that Wednesday with Resena, Julius decided to do a little more digging into the Lansters as well as the Blackwells. He’d assigned one of his closest friends, Raymon Pascal, with the task of finding out more information. Raymon was one of the best private investigators in all of Lenoria.
“Why the sudden interest in the Lansters?”
“I’m thinking about doing some business with them since Lanster Corp specializes in software technology.”
“Oh, that makes sense especially for you! Okay, I find out everything I can, and the Blackwells?”
“No reason in particular, I’m just wondering where I know that name from.”
Raymon looked at his friend with a puzzling look, nevertheless, he would find out everything he could regarding the two families.
As it grew closer to 2:30pm, Julius decided to settle on a barbeque spot. The restaurant’s specialty was various meats and vegetables cooked on flame broiled stoves. He figured both he and Resena might enjoy cooking their own meats and veggies while further getting to know each other. Since that day, Julius found he wanted to know more and more about this interesting young lady. He had played that day over and over, especially that smile. That smile on her face as she said goodbye, that was what he wanted to see again more than anything. Finally, he would have the chance! As 2pm grew near, Julius decided it was time to head out. Today would be a good day. That was the least he could do for her, or so he thought.
Julius pulled up across the street from the entrance of the estate at 2:21pm, He’d parked his car far enough so that the cameras would not detect him. For an estate this big, the Lansters had top of the line security cameras all over and he didn’t want to risk Resena getting into trouble. At exactly 2:30pm, Resena arrived outside of the gates of the estate. As she drew closer, Julius noticed something different about the woman. She looked… Nice. Her hair was pinned up into a bun style ponytail, her dress, much fancier than the one she wore Wednesday, was a pretty violet color with white ruffles underneath. For shoes, she wore black boots with lace and heels. Julius could not help but be admire how pretty the young woman was. He had thought there was an attraction to her back then, but it was difficult to appreciate under ragged clothing and frizzled hair. Before him now walked a lovely young woman; however, there was something else different about Resena today. As she walked up to the car, Julius noticed that although she wore better clothing and her hair was done, Resena herself looked different. Her face looked gloomy and sad, “Has something happened?” Julius thought. The last time he saw her she’d dawned such a beautiful smile, but today, today she looked as if she’d lost something dear. Though he was concerned, he wasn’t sure if he should pry. Opening her door, Julius grabbed her hand to help her get into the car.
“Good afternoon Resena; you look lovely today. (I wonder if she… no that couldn’t be it)”
Startled at being called pretty, Resena began to blush, it had been so long since someone referred to her as such words like pretty or beautiful. To top it off, she felt a tinge of guilt, for he was no longer the reason she was to wear such attire. Thinking back on that evening, Resena’s stomach began to ache, how had everything gone so horribly wrong?
“Resena?”
“Oh, yes! Thank you very much for the compliment.”
“(Something is wrong). Well, let’s be on our way, I figured we’d grab a bite to eat before picking up the laundry. Would that be, okay?”
At that moment, Resena decided she would not fret about what is to come, today she was spending time with Julius, and she wasn’t going to let the ruins of her future spoil this time. So, she pushed all of her worries and fears into the pits of her stomach and decided to be cheerful.
