Joseph shifted his lips slightly, addressing Harper, "I should hang up now."
With that, he walked over to Olivia, asking, "What's amiss? Let me take a look."
"I'm not sure," Olivia replied in confusion, stepping aside to let him in.
Approaching the bed, Joseph lifted the sheets to inspect but found nothing wrong.
Setting the sheets back down, he stood up and looked at Olivia, remarking, "I couldn't find any issues. It's too late, so you have to bear with it for tonight. I'll have the guest room service assist you with a change tomorrow."
With that, he prepared to leave.
Seeing Joseph's movement, Olivia realized he intended to return to the outer room. Anxious, she hastily called out, "Joseph."
Joseph halted, awaiting her next words.
"You should sleep here," Olivia suggested as she approached him.
She gently reached out, encircling Joseph's waist without much hesitation, leaning against his shoulder. "Don't you know? Bagores holds countless memories for me. It's different."
Olivia was wearing a set of silk pajamas and her arms were wrapped right around Joseph's waist. The distance between them was too intimate
She raised her head slowly. "I know it's the same for you too. You haven't forgotten, have you?"
Joseph stood still, offering no verbal response.
Yet to Olivia, it seemed like a significant encouragement.
Gazing at his contemplative face, she leaned in gradually.
However, just as their lips were about to touch, Joseph slightly turned his head, evading her advance. He spoke in a voice as calm as still water, "Rest early. Tomorrow, I'll take you to a special place."
With those words, he gently removed Olivia's hand from his waist and headed back to the living room.
Observing his back retreat, Olivia felt a mix of disappointment followed by uncontrollable happiness.
Taking her to a special place tomorrow? Could it be a surprise?
Back in the outer room, Joseph got into bed directly.
His phone screen was still illuminated, showing a call with Harper that lasted less than two minutes.
Distracted, he stared at the screen, picturing Harper's face in his mind.
Meanwhile, Harper tossed and turned in her bed.
Letting out a sigh, she realized she might have a sleepless night ahead of her.
Unable to control her thoughts, she wondered about Joseph's business trip.
Was he sharing a hotel room with Olivia?
Were they...?
The thought pricked at Harper's heart, causing her to close her eyes in pain.
Harper clenched her fist beneath the covers.
She consoled herself that she and Joseph were on the brink of divorce anyway.
If Joseph had gone to court as planned, they wouldn't be in this entanglement.
She couldn't dwell on who Joseph was sharing a bed with tonight.
Even if the divorce proceedings were temporarily halted, and they had been intimate just twenty-four hours ago, it didn't matter.
Olivia was the one Joseph had always deeply loved.
Though she understood these truths, Harper still couldn't help the bitter sting in her eyes.
The next morning, Harper woke up a bit late. She quickly got ready and joined Patrick downstairs.
Patrick, dressed casually with a backpack, looking handsome and clean.
Noticing Harper, he furrowed his brow slightly. "Didn't sleep well last night? You seem a bit off."
Harper reached up to touch her face. Was it that obvious?
Sleep had eluded her, and her head felt heavy. But it wasn't too severe.
Shaking her head, she replied, "It's nothing. Let's go."
They walked along as Patrick tilted his head. "Let's grab breakfast first. The place isn't far from here, and it's a short ride of about ten minutes."
"Okay."
The two went to the hotel restaurant, grabbed a quick bite, and then headed out.
Meanwhile, upstairs in the hotel, Olivia finished dressing and left her room.
Joseph, already dressed and seated on the couch, was organizing the materials for the upcoming conference on his laptop.
"Joseph."
Approaching him, Olivia intertwined her slender fingers with a shy hint in her demeanor. "Shall we go out this morning? I'd like you to accompany me to a place."
This was the first time she saw her beloved man as soon as she opened her eyes. The feeling was naturally different.
If they could have days like this in the future...
With these thoughts, Olivia's face brightened even more, her anticipation for what would happen in the suite these next couple of days growing stronger.
Joseph paused his typing, his face appearing colder in the light from the screen.
After a silent pause, he turned to look at Olivia. "Alright."
In this city, there was only one place with shared memories between them.
So, what Olivia proposed must align with his original plan.
Struggling to contain her joy, Olivia suggested, "Let's prepare and head out right now!"
Turning back toward her room, a smile played on her lips and in her eyes, and her heart brimming with excitement.
Everything had been unfolding as she anticipated.
When they visited that place and revisited old memories, their relationship was bound to return to that day, right?
